Frog Bard

Frog game!! It's pretty much what it says on the tin, and it's good at what it does imo. First of all, I LOVE the title screen. I'm a sucker for well done title screens, and this one is so nice with flavorful details to check out for context and lore. There's no options menu now that I think about it, but I didn't even notice. It's a simple game. I'm... not great with controls, so I thought driving around would be a bit annoying. It was actually fun and very forgiving tho! You can drive straight up nearly vertical hills weeeeeee I also appreciate that we casually get to drive through a late winter/early spring forest instead of a generic vaguely summery or maybe gloomy autumn landscape as in most other games. Even if it was a decision based on it being easier to do cos it's more minimal - it's smart and adds some character. Some of the inspiration prompts made me literally LOL. The resulting songs don't always match the vibe of the inspiration, but they're very poetic. This game is a tiny bit of joy, but I wish there was a bit more to it tbh. More inspiration points with different choices (or some help for the RNG) so they don't get repetitive so soon. More interesting things to discover. Oh, and the ability to pan around and have a better look at the surroundings and the cute frog and their... whatever it is they're driving lol. Still, nice as an artsy little game snack. This game made me smile, For a short while. And even though my driving skills are lacking, I simply took my sweet time, And after all the strings had been played, I did not regret spending a dime.

drive a little buggy with rubber bands for suspension all over a charmingly drear wood, gathering inspiration for a song at the inn. you're a bard, you're a frog; it's cute, cheap, and good.

Came for the cozy poetry experience, stayed for launching myself up into the woods in the little frog vehicle.

Really lovely stuff. You can indeed finish it in about 5 minutes, or you can keep playing and keep following that strange, lonely path through the woods, and keep writing new songs and keep finding inns to rest the night at, over and over. I've played it three times through, and there's a gentle kind of futility to it. It's not about making money, or reaching the inn, or writing the best song. It's a meditative game about finding your own meaning in the words. Thumbs up from me.

It's exactly what it says on the tin. You get to wander the dreary woods a bit and come up with something new. There's not much to it, but I've yet to have a duplicate song, so there's a bit more for next time

I really enjoyed this little adventure! Really nice to step away from life and be a travelling froggy searching for inspiration, performing little ditties in exchange for some minestrone and butter! Loved the sound direction, and LOVED driving around the cart (the springiness of it brings so much joy!) An experience I'd recommend to anyone, especially at this price point!

Frog Bard is adorable, both the game and the character. He toots around the gloomy woods in his bouncy cart in search of song inspiration. Luckily, little fireflies guide him to points of interest using a navigation system inspired by Ghost of Tsushima’s guiding-wind (or Crazy Taxi’s giant red arrow, you pick). The artistic amphibian then chooses what nugget of inspo to take away from these natural landmarks. Whenever he feels prepared for his show, the slime-y singer vroom-vrooms to the local inn and dishes out some ribbiting bars. While not the most polished project ever, Frog Bard is a lightweight delight with a modest price-tag to boot. Frog enthusiasts, what are you waiting for?
