Pretty good chess game, GUI takes a bit of getting used to. It works perfectly with my DGT board and the training functions are pretty cool.

it's mindless
Tags: Boards & Cards Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Does not cleanly install, adding multiple additional unknown programs in multiple path destinations over the course of multiple install wizards that look very dated themselves. Not worth the time, HDD space or money. Do not need or appreciate the cryptic and serious features this has in its odd user interface. Ugly game window. Stop taking chess seriously people its a game. The machines will always beat us at it. Why bother even getting competitive about it anymore Utility type program moreso than a chess game. This drm-laden game did not install cleanly, and installed several separate programs with no description of what they do or why you are required to install them. With highly confidence inspiring names such as Lubomir Ftacnik 1000x Checkmate or Books 2012. Those seem to have rather sizable files and the whole client weights over 2 gigs. Installers look extremely dated themselves and the whole thing feels rickety as all heck. Once it is installed you must manually input your cd key block by block and enter a captcha. So what do you get for all your trouble? A program that has the same look, feel and behavior as some outdated word program, with all the ribbons about fonts and paragraphs having been replaced with options to export movelists, place handicaps and other strange such so called features. Apparently there is a scalable AI, but despite the voice acting suggesting otherwise he is not turned out by default and I was stuck playing for the enemy. Starting a new game offers to pick a database or book and then tries to get me to browse disk files? Also wants me to export files sometimes which is weird as this really does feel like word. The engine itself for the game looks like an outdated chess game the type you'd find sometimes bundled in with a bunch of games in old windows editions. I am sure that for the right person, with a profesionnal chess mind might potentially care, as this is obviously whom this is aimed to based on the DLC video chess tutorials with presumably famous chess players in it?
Chessboard is way too small on 4k, and couldn't find a fix.
This isn't the best review because i only played it a little to see the basics of this program, but i was impressed with what i saw. This is truly a great chess program, with a smart opponent AI that adapts to your playstyle and an extensive database with plenty of games analysed. The interface is clean but takes a little bit to get used to. And there's also checkmate challenges. In sum, this is a collection of tools designed to help everyone get better at chess in an intuitive way.
