One of the weirdest point & click games I've ever played. Loved the story and Game Design which was made by one person. Being Sigmund Freud and having his twisted mind and saving/condemning his patients was a great experience as a person who finds Pshychoanalysis as an interesting topic. I definitely recommend this to people who loves point & click games with a unique story.
Lets get it straight out of the way. the first poem, MY GOD I literally had to look up a video on what exact words i had to choose. the hand writing as beautiful as it is, its sometimes unreadable. at least to me, who english is not his primary language. But other than that, its a short game and in no means an easy game. I myself am affected by what I've learned from a mere game about psychology. but gameplay-wise. your gonna have your brain working like a machine to learn all there is about psychology (or at least the notes there is in-game) again, in no way it's an easy game but it was enjoyable and most of all, eye opening. i wish to learn more about myself thanks to this game. i recommend it since it felt like a lesson or a reminder to me, and maybe it will to you too.
Ambitious, but not very fun to play.
Alright, that game is just an head scratcher. It's almost like the game expects you to have a psychology degree to actually enjoy it, or just follow a step-by-step guide. I felt like I had no idea what was I supposed to be doing most of the time. It's well done, so for sure someone out there will enjoy it, although it's quite short. It has potential, but it's a game that only a niche could truly enjoy.
CONTAINS LITTLE SPOILER. Kickstarter supporter here. I would recommend this game with many IFs and BUTs The idea is brilliant, as a psychology student the Kickstarter campaign instantly drived me to pay for this project the artwork is cool and the whole concept is majestic. This is an amazing representation of the psychoanalytical method that manages to sum up HUNDREDS of pages and classes on the topic in a fun artistic view specially the whole therapy mechanic and the role the ego super ego and I'd operates against the therapeutic comments. Having said all that this game has ISSUES that were obviously known and purposely ignored. The game has graphical crashes when you save and load mid session, for example the partitioned mind head will not appear with only the bone appearing but no the other things. Or sometimes the wall before session start will appear thus not letting you see some options and the "transference" moon. The game also never states where or when you should go and buy stuff or Publish the books which I must say also don't impact at all on your gameplay. You just come to that via pure coincidence. The game also sends you on a fake feeling of longer play style which in the end is very short thus making every other of those mechanics fake or just useless (books, cigars, your daughter and Salomé, the patrons etc) Now for some other stuff and this is just me beeing exaggerated so don't take me that seriously here: I must say some cases are on point with the readings like Dora but at the same time some of the "correct" options just don't go accord with the real case making into some blind clicking or bad endings that is just frustrating. Same with the "Schreber case" I thought it was going in accordingly to the original case and in the end it was an obsessive instead of a psychotic. I don't see how someone can get the good endings without knowing the cases which as said before doesn't even guarantee it it just doesn't seem to work not even with a lot of reading of the given information in gameplay, it's just too obscure or insufficient. This game could just have more tips and info or more sessions spread along the game but instead it pushes you to blindly go across tons of information and in a second time just straight up disgnose the patient. If it was near impossible to me it's totally imposible to a random person that has no contact with psychoanalysis. Having said all that. I recommend this game I recommend playing it blindly enjoying the occasional success and the many screwups you will have and then going again with the guide that's on steam with the correct answers. It's a cool narration that leaves you desiring more sessions more gameplay and more reading because this woman clearly has a passion for writing similar to our game's protagonist. Have fun and stay away from the white powder.
This game is made specifically for psychology lovers. To fully engage and appreciate it, you should be familiar with Freud's work and key concepts in psychoanalysis. If you're new to these ideas or need to refresh your memory, the game includes a book with detailed instructions to guide you, though it may take some time to read all the information. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this game if you enjoy standard point-and-click adventures that involve exploring various locations, collecting items, and solving puzzles. Instead, this game focuses on dialogue and the exploration of patient's traumas, helping you understand their neuroses through their behaviors, stories, and dreams.
