Yeaaahhh I had to give this game a thumbs down. But first, look. The graphics look great, the sound effects and the music sound good too. But EVERYTHING ELSE about this game is pretty bad. The voice acting is cringe level 9000 The storline is bland and unoriginal. The gameplay is too repetetive and boring. The camera control is super bad and confusing its an active detriment to your gameplay. And for 25 dollars the game just isn't worth all those negatives just cuz it looks real pretty. I'd pass on this one and look for something else. But if that curiosity and that drive to check it out for yourself is still there then maybe check out the video on my youtube channel (link below). It has actual gameplay, examples of the bad camera and the bad voice acting and you'll get a good look at what you'd be jumping into. If not then I at least hope I was able to help you spend your money wisely. Thanks for reading. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOKhtnB-HtM
Wait a bit on this one. It looks great, and combat is pretty nice but the camera is just awful. The dialogue isn't great either, but if I was like 12, and was thrown into a mech and informed to survive, I'd probably be just as, if not more annoying. Camera isn't forgivable, however.
I was excited to get my hands on this game after seeing the trailer. I'm all for hack and slashers and dont mind the lower budget feeling at all, yet the sound effects in this game are a major turn off. I feel bad too cause its an indie studio, but man the sound design is just poor, especially when executing enemies. When you impale an enemy with its own limb you expect a gory splash, but instead the sound feedback is closer to squishing yogurt out of a cup. Seeing how executions are a central combat feature its a big issue. I like to think I have a high jank tolerance when it comes to games, doubly so for indies, but this is the first time a game's audio turned me off even wanting to play. Normally I wouldnt ask for a refund, even if I dont a like game, but this year has so many hits and I only have so much money. I took a chance on this game and it unfortunately let me down.
Voice acting (and this is where I quit): I can't. I literally can't. The voice acting is absolute cringe. Give me an option to mute the damn kid. It ruins everything. "WoOoAaAhH, tHaT's sO cOoL!!!!!!11!1". I have no idea how different people playtest this game and are like "Yep. This kid commenting LITERALLY EVERYTHING is fine." Everything else is pretty good, mech sounds mechy, monsters sound like monsters, music is pretty good. Gameplay: Upgrading system is a mess in itself. You have a "Skill tree" with different areas, namely "General", "Combat" and "Special". Barely any customisability in there, only a couple nodes to spend points on. Your Dash ability is in two of them. Once in General for more distance or something and once in Combat for damaging enemies. Just put both things into one area instead of artificially blowing up your lame skill tree. You also have a melee attack with left click for light attacks and MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON (WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK) for heavy attacks. Who the hell thought putting a more commonly used action in a game on the middle mouse button by default is okay? Aiming is horrible. Your mouse curson can be directly on top of an enemy / a destroyable object and the mech still misses. Graphics: Seems okay. Nothing too special but also not that bad that I have to add this to my list. Sometimes the mech glitches through walls on kill-animations. Going to add the absolutely atrocious camera angles here. It's bad. Period. Could've been a good game. But weird camera angles and especially the damn kid ruined it for me.
I just finished it, the camera issues are fixed and the game is fun. I had a lot of fun. Thank you for making it. I woudl suggest a bit of variations in the finishing kills animations otherwise it was a lot of fun thanks.
Great game !! Forget the negative reviews, the fact that the game on day one has some bugs (already solved) is normal. It happens to AAA games with nasty bugs and they charge you triple for it. I'm sure in the course that the developers will do everything to fix them, as they did with the latest update. So rest assured and play it which is an excellent game.
I love this game, it's so straightforward and brutal, simply put it's like the God of War of mecha robots (vs aliens). I love the idea, the design, the execution, the models look great, I love mostly everything about this game. And yes, I know the camera view is not perfect, but it's not so off-putting as people are saying. I have played games with much worse cameras. This for me is a great find, a hidden gem!! I would never find it if I wouldn't browse the GOG store. That's right, I found it there first. Because it's hard to find hidden gems on steam, because they are usually buried under mountains of trash. Absolutely recommended for the fans of the genre :)
This game is not a perfect masterpiece but I'm not sure it deserves the bad reviews that I have seen. You might label it as a bit of a twinstick shooter and that is partially correct. While in your mech (and using the drone) there are some aspects of twinstick shooting in it, but there is also a bit of (admittedly wonky) platforming to do in spots. The melee combat is simple enough, using light and heavy attacks to allow for simple combo strings and you can buy upgrades to add finishers for a bigger impact at the end. By the end of things, I found it was far easier to use the gun and hose down enemies from a distance than it was to engage in a lot of melee combat, but your mileage may vary. People complain of the voice acting and it is all over the map. I thought some characters sounded better than others and some definitely are a bit grating to hear, but it's not enough to take off much in a review. The environments look great and the music is rather fun and fits the mood. There are collectible skins to change into and upgrades to your health and power meter, which help quite a bit and plenty of powers to use for that power meter depending on your play style. You could grind to level up those powers you want to, but it's definitely not necessary (or feasible) to try to max all levels (nor is there an achievement for doing so). I ran into a few glitches over my 12 hours playing, some minor, some a bit more concerning. Several times, I effectively ran too fast for the game to catch up (the dash upgrades help a lot in covering terrain for looking for those skins) and arrived at a door that showed "open" but refuses to let me through until I went back, let it "close" and then re-open again. More alarming is in the last level... several times (and I was able to capture a small video of it happening), I would do a finishing move on a wounded enemy near a wall and the animation would put me outside of the wall. When the animation was finished, I fell out of bounds endlessly. I had to reload a save (which luckily was right near where this happened, so very little was lost). Much earlier, I had one instance outside where the camera got too close and wouldn't zoom out at all, so I had to use the mini map and navigate using that to the nearest save point and once I reloaded the area, everything was normal. All in all, 12 hours total for getting everything (skin scouring too longer than I hoped and I thought I grabbed the one in the forest earlier, but the game didn't give me credit for it or I forgot to save). Definitely a fun game that doesn't complicate itself unnecessarily. It might not have dozens of options for configuring the "perfect" build for you, but it gives you enough to mess around with and still feel like you have room to grow if something you upgraded isn't as amazing as you initially thought. Recommended.
This game is definitely GREAT! Cool gameplay and graphics, you can go around destroying everything, smashing enemies and there are a lots of power ups you can use in order to develop your own play style. 100% reccomended :D
It's a good game, top notch graphics for an indie studio. The camera had some problems but the new update has fixed most of them! So far so good.
