About
The Franchise Hockey Manager series returns for its 12th version in 2025-26, with new additions that will further expand on the most authentic hockey strategy gaming experience you can find.
Choose one of dozens of leagues around the world and select a team to guide to glory, including a chance at the ultimate prize: FHM12 is licensed by the NHL®, allowing you to take the reins of your favorite franchise to capture the Stanley Cup®. Or, take control of a national team and try for international supremacy.
You can also choose a historical game, where you can begin in any year in NHL® history, play in one of several historical minor leagues, or play in a legendary international tournament, including (new for this year) the World Championships as far back as 1929.
If you'd like to create your own customized league, you can do that, including allowing international play in the world you design.
If you've been playing FHM11 and can't bear to part with your team, import that save into FHM12 and carry on with the addition of FHM11's new features.
However you choose to play, you have control of your team and can oversee finances, select strategies, hire your staff, make trades, sign free agents, and draft the newest generation of stars as you try to build a championship team - and then make it into a dynasty!
All new for Franchise Hockey Manager 12:
Preseason training programs can be selected and directed to help your players make big improvements before the season starts
Targeted training during the season can help direct your players into the exact improvements you want to see
An improved Draft Day Experience, including ongoing deal-making and news coverage as the draft is underway
Trade news has been significantly enhanced, including observations about the reasons the trade was made
We've continued to modify and improve the AI's roster handling and player management, and cleaned up a large number of small issues that were detracting from performance and realism
Historical mode has added the World Championships: all the historical World Championship tournaments back to 1929 are now included
Better tactics management: sets of tactics can now be saved and re-loaded
Player generation has had further improvements, making superstars rarer but adding the long-shot possibility of a generational-level talent appearing that will eventually (if all goes well) stand with the best of the best in hockey history
A new in-game help system so the information you need is there when you need it
The big flow of good major junior players into college hockey has been implemented, and the college transfer portal activity has been ramped up
New league reports: staff ratings and alumni rankings, so you can compare your carefully assembled staff to those around the league, and discover which teams in the league have been producing players that go on to bigger and better things
As always, complete team and player updates for the new 2025-26 season, as well as smaller changes

Probably the best release so far in the series. Changes to Historical mode recently have been great with adding minor leagues and more national team detail. I'm not really sure what else changed over the last few additions, but something about this one feels better, maybe better UI? It took me a bit to find all the screens that I wanted to keep track of, but nothing felt hard to find necessarily and then once I was used to it everything flowed very smoothly. My only negative here is that the 2D mode is still not playable in my opinion, even as squares its really hard to tell what is being represented in the engine. Players teleport all over the place and it all just feels weird. It still feels like a step back for me in comparison to the classic mode which I ended up using the majority of the time(and had no issue with). I hope this game continues to develop year after year. The developers are doing a great job with it and it shows that they really know their hockey.
Okay, i really love this game and gotta tell someone about it! It's not just a great manager - really deep and complex, more than any manager I played so far, probably on the same level as football manager (I'm not a football guy) - it's really made with passion and HUMOR! Reminds me of the old german Anstoss-Reihe in that regard. Just an example: Playing in second tear league in Germany, I witnessed an amazing story from a player that was on another team in the same league through the messages you get. First, I learned that this guy now loves crossfit and is doing it everday in the offseason and how much he loves it. Couple weeks later, I hear the same player has decreased his weight and increased his fitness - and he really did! It really did affect his stats! Now, like a third of season being done, he just declared he'll start a Crossfit Fitness Studio! And, for some reason i don't understand yet, that made his Greed-Level go down. This game is so full of little random stuff like that and i love it!
FHM12. Getting better and better. Love this game and each version bring improvement. Still the best whether you play today, historical or making expansion. Would say this is the best hockey manager game. Better than HLM26 and EHM. They are all nice to play but I would give a slight edge to FHM12
Nice game.
fub to play
Excellent attention to detail
Отличное продолжение серии! Всем любителям хоккея советую.
I am hooked, this game is a lot of fun. Appreciate the depth of the game. Not as punishing as OOTP. Will for sure buy next year's edition.
Franchise Hockey Manager 12 quietly has one of the best features in sports sims: Export CSV, which dumps your entire save — rosters, stats, ratings, scouting grades, ~2 million rows across ~48 tables — to flat files. I wrapped that export in a local MCP (Model Context Protocol) server and now I run my OHL team with an AI assistant GM. The setup is a Python ingest script watches the export directory and loads each new export into SQLite as a snapshot keyed to the in-game date. The MCP server sits on top of that database and exposes tools to the AI — raw SQL queries against any table, standings, roster pulls, and a development tool that diffs scouting ratings between any two snapshots, so it catches every half-star of prospect movement between exports. Because every answer is grounded in tool calls against my actual save, the assistant doesn't hallucinate players or ratings but it queries them. It builds draft boards before the priority selection, grades my draft class in October when teen potential settles, writes monthly report pages, and runs a custom 100-point roster-scoring rubric (a deterministic function in the server — age pyramid shape, overager quality, import slots, goalie pipeline) so I can measure my rebuild against the blueprint instead of vibing it. The snapshot design is the killer part: the game only shows you current ratings, but the database remembers all of them. It flagged a goalie prospect's potential dropping half a star because my coach wouldn't start him. None of this works without the sim underneath being deep enough to be worth querying and FHM12 is. If you like management sims where the spreadsheet IS the game, this one hands you the whole spreadsheet. The export turns it into a platform.
