Having just finished Silent Hill f, I wanted to play another surreal game that hearkened back to the older silent hill aesthetic, and Fragile Reflection did fit that bill. The game is mostly technically sound, there was 1 audio glitch I encountered around 3 times where most sounds and dialogue would not play until the game was restarted, but besides that I did not experience anything that was clearly a bug or game breaking. I do think it's important to note you are getting what's on the packaging with this game -- it is not a quadruple A game. Almost every aspect of this game is a bit rough, but that does give it some charm. I enjoyed my short time with this game, and I'd recommend playing this game if you want a Silent Hill-esc experience and would like to support an indie developer with all that entails.
Would you believe me, that I had fun with "Fragile Reflection" equal to the best of the best survival-horror experiences out there? Do it! Because "Fragile Reflection" has ... + wonderul PSX aesthetics on the point - exploring this low-poly world couldn't bring back memories more ... and creating new ones + a descent spooky storyline that guides through the game without overloading it + a fluent gameplay between "finding Key A", "Get to lock B", "Fight enemy C" and "Unlock area D" without the slightest feeling of stretching time unnecessarily A definite bonus for myself is the accessibility of the game: Great to read text, good UI, all in the best viewable state. That's not necessary for everyone. But it is for me. And "Fragile Reflection" offers it, making this a totally enjoyable experience. Double thumbs up!

This is a very solid retro horror game, drawing clear inspiration from the classic Silent Hill games with both narrative and aesthetic while having some more modern gameplay touches. I'll admit, it's a little rough around the edges. There's a lot of texture clipping, the sound cuts out at random times even during dramatic cutscenes, some of the hit detection can be a little awkward during certain fights (Though I found combat just fine overall). But all these technical issues are pretty minor to me, especially compared to how much heart this game has. Cutscenes, full voice acting, a narrative that actually has some interesting aspects to it, it's clear they were trying to make this a full fledge SH homage despite being such a small team. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
A Beautifully Painted Trainwreck: Graphically, the game is lovely. An atmospheric love letter to the mid 90's - early 2000's, it nails that nostalgic PSX/PS2-era gracefully. Even the animations (which are completely broken, especially during cutscenes), get a tentative pass from me. It's an indie game, after all, and I can forgive some jank if the vibe is right. However, my goodwill ended the moment I had to fight mid-to-end enemies. The combat is as stiff as a rigor mortis corpse, and the hitboxes are all over the place (especially while shooting). Sure, the melee weapon works fine against brain-dead enemies early on. But during the mid-to-late game the developers decided to throw combinations of enemies at the player that feel like pure, unadulterated spite, an given how broken the core mechanics are, they really should have spared us the frustration. Then we have the sound design and mix... which is A COMPLETE DISASTER. The soundtrack itself is a stroke of genius, which makes it even more tragic because the audio execution is an absolute joke. What is the point of a brilliant score if the audio completely mutes itself during crucial cutscenes? To top it off, as you approach the end of the game, the sound clips constantly. Launching a game with audio this broken isn't just ''indie jank'' - it's unacceptable. My conclusion: A beta in disguise... This game has great ideas, but the execution is incredibly questionable. I can only recommend this game in its current state to gaming archeologists who want to look at a pretty aesthetic and wonder what it could have been if it had been executed properly. In my opinion, this is a Beta camouflaged as a full release. It should have been launched in Early Access, not sold as a finished product.
