An interesting take on the side scrolling beat em up genre. The basic idea is that rather than having to avoid defeat at the hands of your enemies (as far as I'm aware you can't actually lose) your goal is to perform well in combat since the story on display here is being done as a stage play. Continue long combos, deliver amazing special attacks, and save the day in order to raise the audience mood meter and thus increase the speed at which you can fill up the star rating in hopes of getting a 5 star rating for the stage. Also each stage has challenges in need of completion in order to unlock charms that can be equipped for various boosting effects. A jolly good time!

Аудиторія реагує на ваші дії, аплодує, вигукує — і саме вона є вашою смужкою успіху (додатковий рівень, котрому не треба впасти до 0). Головне — не дати глядачам нудьгувати. Чим довше тримаєш комбо — тим бурхливіша реакція залу. З прогресом відкриваються нові здібності, але на практиці найзручніше використовувати 1–2 найефективніші зв’язки. І хоча бойова система не дуже глибока — вона захоплює. Грати приємно в соло або в коопі. Гра вже не нова, текстури трохи розмиті, але стиль витягує. Локації яскраві, кожна сцена — своя міні-вистава з декораціями. Саундтрек підтримує настрій, а сама історія — проста, але несподівано весела. Foul Play — це гра, яку хочеться рекомендувати за атмосферу. Театральний антураж і незвичне обрамлення роблять її унікальною навіть попри дрібні недоліки: розбалансованість, обмежену бойову систему і трохи застарілу графіку. Гарний, недорогий і добрий інді, де ви будете боротися за ворогів з другом для отримання більшого комбо.

It's like Senran Kagura Burst, except there aren't any sexy ninjas in old-timey England. Instead, there's better gameplay.

Can't say anything good about this game. Didn't feel like a real product, but rather like a demo of a demo with no depth at all. Your abilities are very limited and uninteresting, so are your enemies. You can't change your character for local co-op because there are just two of them, even though graphics are quite simple and it wouldn't be too hard to make three or five skins more (or at the very least to let pick color). The game flow, hardly breathtaking by itself, is constantly interrupted by a million of cutscenes (storytelling, you know), which is kinda annoying. I also don't like at all when the game insists that I'd enjoy it in a certain way (in these case, making multiple hit combos just for the sake of it), and then rates how good I was. It's me who should rate if I was entertained enough. And we weren't.

Game crashes once the fighting begins tried all sorts of settings (Compad Mode etc). I have a well working GOOD computer that should not do this. 0/10 Would refund but bought this years ago (luckily on sale, glad I did too). Shame I really wanted to play this with a friend!

I have this on Xbox 360 as well and it's a classic fun beat em up. Never goes on sale, but worth it to have in the arsenal.
