I love racing for 30mins-1hour just for my game to crash halfway through my race. I love the feeling of all my effort and progress being stripped away from me. It's so enjoyable to have to close the game and reopen it to all my race progress gone. I just enjoy this so much. (Would recommend and i'm addicted so I will end up just doing the race over again)
Actually played closer to 80 hours between Steam and Xbox... Despite what others say about it, I personally think it's the most 'well matured' title in the series. Never cared for arcade style Horizon games. Played every entry in Forza. Nothing else gives you quite the same experience. Do I prefer the career format from some of the other games? Sure. Having a blend of several would be great. Bring back Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond from the 4th entry! Are there more cars in 7? Yup. Are there more tracks in 7? Yup. Was there a bunch of stuff people complained about at launch? Yup. Why do I still recommend this title then?? Simple; there isn't anything else like it. BeamNG Drive just not the same. Assetto Corsa games not bad but really not fond of the format. Tried Project Motor Racing recently; actually really enjoyed it but just not as 'matured' as Forza. You want some of the best graphics on PC? FM2023. Want reflections that aren't broken from the ground up? FM2023. Want an interactive upgrade system with progression tied to each car? FM2023. Want ray-traced reflections, shadows, AO & GI? FM2023. There are more tracks in FM7 but all the tracks have been rescanned in higher fidelity for FM2023. There are more cars in FM7 but a lot of them were pretty rubbish or repeats. FM2023 rescanned all the cars in higher fidelity. Complaints at launch were related to systems that have been patched out since launch. They were related to high poly tracks with old low poly vehicles. The vehicles have now all been scanned. Is the game perfect? No. Is it the best racing sim available on PC if all the features above matter to you? Absolutely. Am I just blowing the game 'case I'm a 'Microsoft' or 'Forza' fanboy? Absolutely not. Can't stand Microsoft these days. Can't stand the way this game was handled. As I said already, would actually prefer a blend of formats from the other titles in the series combined. But that's not what is available. That's what I'd want in an ideal world. Cons include hard coded race regulations. Want to have simulation tyres, damage and steering but keep the rewind feature on? Not happening. Bonuses are reduced. Career format is a bit weird. You can't reset your career without setting up a new Microsoft account. Graphics are awesome but you'll need a computer built to fight God and 24 GB of VRAM if you want to avoid 'Out of Memory' warnings for graphics settings. You can't enable frame-gen or Reflex without some modding. Then there's having to be online to play single player and having to wait a moment after EVERY LITTLE CHANGE so it can be server logged. Loading times for tracks get a bit silly sometimes and this will run your CPU HOT whilst loading anything. Damage model is limited to scratches and scuffs for licensing reasons (super lame). Also worth mentioning progression is linked to how much you drive each vehicle and how well. Finally, there's the price for the complete experience. Looking at around £100 for the 'full experience' (i.e. all the tracks & cars available). Pros I haven't mentioned? Finally get to have power back in HP as opposed to KW. Finally get to see displacement changes as opposed to just getting a reading on how the engine's power in KW changes. Races have practice sessions which count towards vehicle progression so it's incentivised. I actually like the penalty system. The driving physics are the best in the series. People say the colour is washed out but having actually lived in South Africa for a large portion of my life and driving Kayalami for the first time, I was taken back to my childhood by the lighting and colours. What I'm putting down is it's actually accurate AF. Get it in 24 hours whilst the summer sale is still on and you can have it + all bar one DLC for £45. The last is £1.99.
AI is the most pathetic thing i have ever came across, brake check you at every corner, barge into as if you are not their.....maybe they are preparing you for online as this is worse...i would rather race with a lobby full of rammers than this. creating a livery is so bad....it feels so backwards to use....kudos to the people who kept at it and got a livery done. penalty system is beyond broken....every incident goes to a virtual magic 8 ball and that decides the penalty....it really has to be seen to believe how random it is. its really sad how far microsoft have fallen
