I love Japan (in-game)
I have mixed thoughts on FH6, on one hand this was probably my most anticipated game of the year, I've been wanting to play this one before it released and was pretty sad when I couldn't do to certain life events so I've been really excited to play it. As a game, I think it's fantastic. The map is probably the best map I've seen in a racing game just beautiful, the optimization is fantastic like always, sadly it is the first forza I have to run on the lowest settings but it runs without lag (and I'm playing on 4K). The radio soundtrack is one of my favourites, usually I stick to one station but this is the first time I really enjoyed songs in basically all of them, the driving is as great as it's been and the first couple of hours were magical, I was so excited to play and in my head I was thinking that this was the forza horizon I've been waiting for. Sadly, once you get past the magic you realize that it's literally the same game with the same issues that have been there since 3/4, just with a fantastic map slapped onto it. The AI is just horrendous, if you get past a certain difficulty it's basically impossible to win unless you ram full speed into the AI. They take tight corners at impossible speeds, the AI was always bad but I think since the map of 6 has tighter corners on average it is a lot more noticeable even at lower levels. They have a similar system to the accolades of 5, however it's been stripped of any challenge. It's just a completion list, which isn't a huge issue but it is another part of personality that has been stripped. It's incredibly bland for what it could have been, genuinely the map and the vibe is just perfect but the story and dialogue which is still unzippable is so inoffensive and lame it's honestly crazy. The progression is an improvement but it is still pretty short, and once you get the last wristband it's basically done. And the worst part is that with this great of a map, with all these amazing roads there's really not enough races and there's too many rally and offroad races, even the speed traps and drift zones I just don't get why there is so many offroad ones, in a racing game in japan you have like 50% of drift zones be on dirt. And worst of all, the feature that they're betting on to drive players to come back which is the weekly horizon playlist has been unchanged, it's the concept that they're betting on and sadly for me after 4 and 5 I just really don't care about doing it. So my final thoughts, if I had to recommend it as a game I highly recommend it. It's the best arcade racing game out there right now, the map is sick and especially for a newcomer I think it'd be a lot greater. As a forza horizon game, it's disappointing how complacent the developers are with it, I guess it's because there's really no competition. They're focused on making a product for everyone so much that it feels like a product for no one. If this was my first forza, I'd be in awe but so far it looks like for playground games they're trying to make it into a call of duty type of game where they make releases with barely any changes.
