About
Forward Line is a war strategy game with a focus on combined arms, logistics and military science.
This is a turn based, medium weight, abstract strategy board game with a World War II theme. The object is to capture the cities of the world with your military units. The game is over when one player has more than twice as many cities than his opponent. Each city can create one unit per game turn, so the more cities you conquer the more units you can muster and the greater your chances of victory.
In some ways the game is like chess, in that it is a game of positioning and maneuver; there is no random chance involved in determining whether a unit defeats an enemy unit. However, you must also use the terrain to gain advantage, and must sometimes contend with imperfect knowledge, such as managing the danger of deadly, invisible submarines. There are 10 types of military unit that have unique roles that must be combined to deceive, outrun, outwit and overwhelm your opponent.
Features:
Multiplayer mode over internet or hotseat.
Single player mode against the AI.
In game tutorial for learning the rules.

This is a brilliant game! do not judge this game by its graphics or its low price. I dare say its more fun than Panzer Corps. It plays very much like chess in the sense that controling the spaces and protecting your units in the same way you would in chess ie. like you would with two knights or rooks. I love the little animations. The maps are pre-generated and although they are not huge maps, big enough to have you play long into the night. The Supply line mechanic and air drops are great addition to the gameplay as too the navy gameplay (better done than Order of Battle Navy gameplay imo). So if you love turn based games then i highly recommend playing this game. I hope the dev has plans to expand this game or at least new types of maps (ie. desert and possibly new terrain types and units).
Don't let the rough look fool you: behind it you will find a very elegant game with unique mechanics. With the help of the tutorials I got into the game pretty quick. It is a turn-based strategy game, which reminded me of classics like Diplomacy, Hive and Advance Wars. It has a decent AI which manages to exploit mistakes and is aggressive. This game definitely deserves some attention. Recommended.

A very interesting strategy game with a great focus on logistics. I bought this because I saw one of my favorite modders on the Civ series created his own strategy game! It was definitely not a let-down either, as even learning through the tutorial was fun. Great for its price, and great to support a devoloper branching out!
Fun and strategic, Forward Line features 8 bit graphics that feel nostalgic for those gamers who have been around a long time. The animations are impressive, especially since this game was developed by a single person. Play the tutorials and you’ll be able to challenge the bot. I was given this game to preview for free, and I recommend it particularly for those who love turn-based strategy games.
Looks simple, but the mechanics are deep and engaging. "Easy to learn, difficult to master" as the saying goes. It feels a little like Chess or Hive. There's no randomness, but some hidden information. It's very satisfying when you learn how to get all the units to work together; a well coordinated combined-arms land and/or sea force becomes far more than the sum of its parts. The AI is the weakest part of the game. It's okay - it puts up a decent enough fight for a new player, but it'll quickly lose its challenge with even odds. A recent patch added an optional handicap (like a difficulty setting), it can make the AI pretty challenging even for a good player. I hope to see improvement here, the game could have vastly more single-player replayability with better AI. Still I have to recommend it for fans of deep, non-random strategy games. It took me ~8 hours to get good enough to beat the AI once with the highest handicap (and that was on a very favorable randomly-generated map). It was a captivating 8 hours - well worth the $7. And I can tell I'm far from mastering the game; might try the multiplayer next, or beating the AI on a more difficult map.
Erinnert mich an Empire Deluxe aus den Neunzigern, macht auch genausoviel Spaß. Für den Preis ist sehr Empfehlenswert!
Fantastic gem of a game I would like to see larger maps in the future A must buy..
Little Gem!
This is a very fun game. It can get very intense. Ive been lucky to play this game from the begining, but my review isnt based on that. This game has everything a war should have. Supply lines, that can be broken, inf, armor, air, ships, arti. Its also online, which made this game even better. At first it was just AI, which still was great. Online, with a timer, so the other person cant take for ever, makes this game challanging even more. Thanks Dev, for keeping up the great job!
There is something wrong with my ships today.
