About

Utilise weapons, armour, abilities, alchemy ingredients, traps and anything else you can lay your hands on within an entirely classless character progression system.
Whether you want to be a nimble-footed archer flinging fireballs between arrows or face your foes, toe to toe as an axe-wielding whirlwind of death; the choice is yours.

The Vale of Vahrin is beset by threats from both within and without, the perfect place for a mercenary in search of their next contract.
Rival mercenaries, bandits, monstrous beasts and even hideous creatures infest the Vale of Vahrin, ready and waiting for their bounties to be claimed.
Master intense real-time action combat and adapt to every challenge, ensuring that no enemy, no matter how powerful, can stand in your way.

Aid the survivors in their personal tales of grief, love and even humour, as they fight back against the overwhelming odds facing Vahrin.
Traverse a world steeped in beauty and mystery, from overgrown city streets to magical caverns and murky bogs, each hand-crafted to test your resolve.
Scour every corner; leaving no stone unturned in your quest to discover hidden treasures, unravel lost mysteries, and claim the spoils of Vahrin for your own.

The city of Vahrin found itself overwhelmed by a swarm of the grotesque, insect-like creatures known as khraiax.
In response, many of the Free Cities, united under the banner of the Combined Order, sent their armies to confront this terrible threat.
But victory was not to be theirs, for while the khraiax stood little chance against the might of the combined forces, a far greater danger rose from beneath the city’s streets.
Vahrin’s king lies dead, along with thousands of soldiers who marched to the city’s aid. Now only its most stalwart defenders remain, desperately fighting to reclaim their beloved home.

Vahrin’s Call stands as its own complete tale, yet it forms just one part of a sweeping epic narrative that spans nations and continents.
What begins as smaller, isolated struggles becomes part of a greater saga, where every character’s trial, every kingdom’s war, and every act of courage or betrayal weaves the tapestry of the unfolding story throughout the world.

Finished my playthrough and it was a fun game, got 24h of entertainment out of it so price was ok, especially if you get it on a sale. Exquisite exploration, had a lot of fun tracking the hidden genomys. Story is meh, it takes you through the game. Gameplay was like a little indie chill souls-like, very easy even at the hardest difficulty (although bosses could profit from a bit of polishing and balancing on the hardest difficulty, had no prayer against the last boss). Besides that, very nice "ending credits", more games should do that. Had no performance issues. Like I said, it was enjoiable experience, especially for exploration and completion fans.

Really nice smaller RPG that kinda reminds me of early 2010s era AA games like Divinity 2, Witcher 1 and Kingdoms of Amalur. It also has a lot of Fable vibes going for it, perhaps a bit less immature but it has a whimsical fairy tale setting mixed in with more darker stuff. Combat is janky and very souls inspired but the exploration and level design is incredibly rewarding.
feels like Elder Scrolls Oblivion/Skyrim if done by a much smaller team that forgot or didn't have time to finish or implement a bunch of things. i only recommend this game as it's a decently fun playthrough even if there's virtually no innovation and in fact a lot of mechanics are missing that you'd find in larger predecessor games like Elder Scrolls. my laundry list of issues and nit-picks (read 'innovations'): cannot interrupt certain long attack animations if you realize you mis-timed it and need to dodge or move away. enemy attacks tend to steer toward you even as you are dodging away, causing you to get hit anyway at times. infinite arrows makes archery feel cheap and inconsequential - a proper game treats arrows as actual inventory objects with mechanics to retrieve and reuse unbroken arrows and to craft or buy arrows. fall through deep water as if it isn't there and instantly die. large barn windows you cannot shoot through (collision box covers the windows), yet you can fall through small player sized holes in the floor boards just fine. ladders you cannot climb. tons of 'static' objects including weapons and armor on display that you cannot interact with (pick up, knock over, break, steal, etc.). no 'radiant ai' style AI that reacts dynamically to things you do or behaves with any degree beyond 'kill or be killed' logic. no thievery mechanic. no pickpocket or lockpicking mechanics. climbing or scaling terrain that isn't specifically designed with climbing points is practically impossible. traversing fences is a bit silly/annoying having to run and hit the exact apex of your jump to get on and over many fences and objects - should have some sort of fence traversal animation. should be given a few seconds to panic swim to safety before the weight of your armor drags you down in deep water. no 'breath' meter when underwater. no swim mechanics. female character has goofy long arms, with weirdly shaped loopy look to the back of the arms where the lats should be - swap to a more proper looking model if not wearing armor! character creator seems impossible to make proper attractive characters (at least one thing they match Bethesda games at). water is extremely quiet, even when boosting ambient sound slider - rivers and waterfalls should be very loud - apparently the devs never go outside. no fun water mechanics/physics with parts of streams that get deeper and the water can push you around and the like. no wet/dry/cold/hot mechanics. torches and campfires dont burn or set you on fire.
Will expand this review once I’ve got more hours in but just wanted to say I’m loving my time so far. Only the first area after the hub area but I’m loving the old school feel to the game.
Awesome.
it's a good way to pass the time between doses of chemotherapy
