About
Uncover the dark origins of the Stone Plague, the terrible curse that infests the valley and its inhabitants. Carve your path through ancient ruined temples, swamps inhabited by unspeakable horrors, and churches that gave birth to twisted cults, all shrouded in a mysterious aura that barely conceals its "divine" and "angelic" origins.
Forgotten Blood belongs to the dark fantasy narrative genre with "Angelpunk" influences and explores theological and philosophical themes that delve deeply into the relationship between humanity and the divine.

While I am giving a positive score to this game because I'm really enjoying it, I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. IMO it delivered exactly what was promised. An indie "Kings Field like" If you love Kings Field (I do) then you will enjoy the game. It is rough and needs work so hopefully the dev is still making improvements but I am glad I bought it and had a great time so far with it. I did encounter a soft lock in an area where I needed to light a candle and it wouldn't work. Had to return to crystal which is an option in the ESC menus, not in game, so a bit strange to find. All that said I will go back to playing it soon and I do not regret the purchase at all.
I'm giving a thumbs up because if you can look past the jank, I think there are some strong redeeming elements to this game; that said, I am sorry to say that I can't recommend this game in it's current state to the average user. There are a lot of inspired elements, from art, story, and environments. Unfortunately, those are let down by simply bad gameplay, UI, sound design, etc. This game needed substantially more playtesting and polish and feels like it's in an alpha state; combat in particular feels sluggish, inaccurate, and unforgiving. It's sadly just not fun, and I say this as a King's Field enjoyer. The opening dungeon offers a taste of reasonably good level design that is just totally lost after advancing beyond it into an expansive and confusing environment. The sound effects are bad and repetitive. Everything feels like it was just made a bit too big without having established a sufficient level of polish; the story seems like it might be compelling but the text fragments scattered throughout the game were not particularly interesting and had quite a lot of typos. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews and it's clear a lot of love and spirit went into this game. It's unfortunately just not at the level of polish that you'd expect for a title such as this. I'd encourage the developer to keep working on this and looking to similar games to see why they feel better.
Incredibly terrible inventory management and or interactivity. It does not function as intended or the intention is for it to not function? I went to use a life crystal of which I had seven and it gave me one charge but deleted the other 6. Playthrough completely scrapped. Not only does the inventory not function properly 90% of the time but trying to pick up items from vases and enemies is like pulling teeth. You had better hope you're standing in the right spot or the glowing loot might as well not exist. The reach of weapons does not match animations and attacking only works when it wants to. Sometimes I can swing back to back, other times it takes 3 business days to attack more than once and this is at full stamina as well. Every action is laggy beyond measure and nothing registers as it should. The navigation is ridiculous and unnecessarily long winded. There really is no purpose in taking away the stairs when you cant pass through the torchwall from the other side even if you jank your way across the eye shaped opening. You also can't open the locked door without the silver key. It serves no purpose except to force you to backtrack through the entire level from bottom to top just to arrive back at the torch exposed door. If you enjoy these types of games I can see potential here, but I'd wait for more than a few updates to release first.
I've played the game extensively and finished the story a few times (yes, it has multiple endings). The game definitely has some problems, such as the stamina consumption and the inventory management, which is clunky and far more complicated than it needs to be. Still, the core idea is interesting. The feeling of getting lost, the claustrophobic environments, and the lack of clear direction are deliberate design decisions (which some people may like and others may not, but that's ultimately a matter of personal preference). Considering it's the work of a single developer, I think it's a nice achievement. It may not be for everyone, but it can be a rewarding experience for those who can look past the clunky controls.
Very rough and unpolished. It needs a lot more time in the oven before I'd give it another look. Barely any clarity in direction and combat is hardly anything to look at. All of it seems very amateurish with very little thought put into it for QoL or intuitiveness. I'm all for supporting indie devs but I can't in good faith recommend this without serious revisions.
I really like the game's atmosphere, but the hitboxes are just terrible. Also, stacking items in the inventory is awful—you have to drag them perfectly on top of each other, otherwise it doesn't register. Same goes for the hitboxes of lootable items and interactables, they're horrible too. I hope they fix these ASAP, because I actually really dig the game's art style
I believe this is one of the games that best captures the atmosphere, vibes, and overall tone of the classic King's Field games, while blending them with some elements from modern FromSoftware titles. I found myself immediately immersed in a unique atmosphere, with a lore that became more and more engaging the deeper I explored it. Exploring Gravenstone gave me a sense of mystery and wonder that I hadn't felt in a long time, and nearly every secret uncovered and every new location discovered brought a genuine feeling of satisfaction and reward. The combat system is simple but satisfying, and it's perfectly suited to a game that isn't trying to be brutally difficult, but rather to keep you constantly immersed in its world. I had the opportunity to play it early as a beta tester, thoroughly exploring the map and uncovering the lore to earn every achievement and experience every ending. Even after doing all of that, I still want to jump back in and start another playthrough and I can guarantee that 0.2 hours of playtime is not nearly enough to even understand what the game is about. This is definitely the perfect game for anyone who loves King's Field-likes and Soulslikes in general, especially for its atmosphere and lore. The fact that it was created by a single developer makes it even more impressive.
stay clear of this game. it looks interesting and reminds me of kingsfield, but the whole gameplay is so extremly poor. nothing is explained (and i realy mean noting) so you do not know what most of your items do. inventory managment is tideous for no real reason: you have to open your inventory to pick a item up and you have to manualy drag it from loot to a free space or a stack with the same items (sometimes the items dont stack fo no reason at all) and youll have to do this for every fking item you find. and by god you do not look at the item in the right angle to pick it up. sometimes items just straight up disapear out of the inventory screen and are lost forever. then selecting an item in the inventory is mapped to 2 buttons: pick up and put back. like wtf why have it on 2 SEPERATE buttons. turn speed is also abysal on controler while on keyboard you can zoom around. combat is extremly dull (even duller than in games which are 30years old). enemys hardly react to your swings and its basically a "who has more hp/stamina whacking" eachtime. the world seems interesting, but areas seem to be very small and paths usually arent realy clear. no idea if lvl ups are a thing since i droped this game after the first biome and only reached 2 bonefires of which one wasnt activated. all in all 2/10 do not buy
Love RPG? Make sure to Follow my Curator Page
The story and unique setting are what captivated me about Forgotten Blood. It's a very atmospheric game with its own charm. The gameplay is very similar to King's Field (with all its simplicity). The combat is average, and the levels and puzzles are challenging, which I like. The downsides include the extremely clunky inventory and item pickup system. But overall, I like the game. ✔️7/10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO_18r8adLQ
And don't forget to Subscribe to my Youtube

Join my Steam Group
disclaimer: played only for a short while, couldnt finish it cons: game really turned me off from the get go, I only played it a short while but LOTS of glitches, from switches not working, to enemy and player attack animations whiffing for no reason, to enemy AI just standing still and doing nothing dogwater inventory management, like truly abysmal the map design is comically bad. The main path is ambiguous which is fine, but I found myself at times glitching my way up walls to find routes and weighing wether or not I was playing the game the right way or if Id break sequence accidentally, which really took me out of the atmosphere all this just quickly made me feel like this was an undercooked product that was shipped to "full release" (if you can call it that) just to make some money or buzz to recoup the time put into it, maybe they intend to work on it more? Maybe not? but it's not worth any amount of money currently to me. pros: cool atmosphere
