About
You came to the forest for something simple.
To breathe. To walk. To fish, hunt, gather mushrooms — and disappear from the noise for a while.
Then something found you first. You wake up alone in the middle of the woods, disoriented.
Somewhere in the distance, you spot an old fire lookout tower. It’s the only landmark you have.
Maybe the only chance you have left.
Forest Doesn’t Care throws you into a dense, living wilderness inspired by real terrain:
deep forests, swamps, hills, abandoned places, hidden paths, and long stretches of silence that feel almost too real.
What begins as a desperate search for help slowly turns into something much stranger.
Reach remote towers.
Search abandoned places.
Follow traces left by people who came before you.
Meet the few who still live here — and decide whether they are helping you, using you, or lying to you.
This is not a base-building sandbox.
You won’t be cutting down forests or constructing massive structures. Survival here is practical, limited, and grounded in reality. You are not here to conquer the forest.
You are here to survive it.
Whether you want a quiet life in the woods or a brutal fight to survive, the game offers multiple ways to play:
Peaceful — explore, fish, gather, and enjoy the forest at your own pace
Survival — balance freedom, danger, and the need to stay alive
Hardcore — harsher conditions, higher risk, less forgiveness
One Life — no second chances
What starts as a search for help can turn into a calm life in the wilderness…
or your worst mistake.
This is not a traditional horror game.
There are no cheap haunted house tricks here.
But the deeper you go, the more the forest begins to feel wrong.
Strange symbols.
Unfinished messages.
Improvised rituals.
People who speak like they know more than they should.
And signs that something in this place has been waiting much longer than you’ve been alive.
Explore the forest solo or with friends in multiplayer.
Travel together, survive together, argue over supplies, get lost, or sit by the fire —
before everything goes wrong again.
The forest doesn’t care how many of you there are.
Experience the forest the way it was meant to be seen.
Forest Doesn’t Care pushes dense, lifelike environments to the limit — with tens of thousands of trees, dynamic lighting, and rich atmospheric detail.
With NVIDIA DLSS, you can boost performance using AI-powered upscaling without sacrificing visual quality.
For players seeking the absolute best image, DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing) delivers maximum clarity and detail — perfect for capturing every branch, shadow, and movement in the forest.
And with NVIDIA Reflex, gameplay becomes more responsive, reducing system latency and ensuring every movement feels precise and immediate.
Choose your balance between performance and visual fidelity — and step into a forest that feels truly alive.
Forest Doesn't Care was created by a two-person team driven by one goal: to build a forest that doesn't feel like a level, but like a real place. A place where you can fish, hunt, camp, survive, get lost — and gradually realize that something is deeply wrong here. Everything in this project grew far beyond what we originally planned — the world, the systems, the secrets, the danger, and the freedom we wanted to give the player.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has been with us since the early days — back when this was just a quiet mushroom-picking experience.
Somewhere along the way, the project took on a life of its own.
And we decided to follow it as far as it goes.

this game can be amazing right now the graphics atmosphere are awesome having to draw your own map and survive is amazing i give it a 4/5 MOST OF THE BAD REVIEWS ARE BEFORE THE JULY 10TH UPDATE this new update pushed it over the edge what needs to change more crafting options wet and cold cycle more ai improvements and enemy types of course they are a ton now and it's really awesome to see what you can find i love the crafting and the exploration the map needs to be bigger but i'm sure that will come in time this game is a gem if you cannot run it that's to due to pc hardware limitations and not the games fault sure it's buggy but it's also dev by a couple people i perfer this over the forest this is what the forest 2 should have been,
Rubbish game. fatal error after fatal error... managed to create a character... then that was as far as i could get. Just the character creation part was very limited. game should be free
Very interesting game, I had fun.. i only played solo. Looking forward to seeing how game progresses..
game is a complete mess. crashes, stutters, and weird artifacts
This one is quite the hidden gem. Nice immersive and atmospheric experience. Needs a bit more polishing and bugfixing, though.
Huge NO
I really wanted to like this game, but The Forest just doesn’t care about the player. There is no character creation, no proper tutorials, no onboarding of any kind. You’re dropped in and basically told: “Figure it out. Or don’t.” And the problem is, figuring it out isn’t satisfying, it’s just confusing. Most mechanics aren’t intuitive at all, and the game never explains what’s important and what isn’t. Half the time you’re guessing whether something is a feature, a bug, or just bad design. The physics are also… weird. Grass waves like it’s underwater, objects behave inconsistently, and immersion constantly breaks because things don’t react the way you’d expect in a survival game. And yes, it’s often broken. Sometimes I literally couldn’t pick up mushrooms — a basic survival resource — because the game just refused to register it. Stuff like this happens way too often to ignore. The UI doesn’t help either. It’s clunky, awkward to navigate, and feels like it’s actively fighting you when you’re already struggling to understand the systems. The game itself is somewhat atmospheric, but nothing like promised. It plays like an Early Access game, which would be fine, if I hadn’t paid for a finished product. If you enjoy games that explain nothing, break immersion regularly, and make basic actions frustrating, you might have fun. Otherwise, be prepared for a lot of unnecessary friction. Not recommended — unless your idea of survival includes fighting the game itself.
Edit: no updates or even communication in half a year. The thumbs up here is mainly because of the price, performance and hope for what it can become. Aside from Nightingale, this is easily the best looking UE5 game I've played and it runs nicely at 4k/120 on a 5090 with everything maxed out except lighting or shadows which I set one notch below Cinematic. I'm really, REALLY impressed with how everything looks. I'll check back in a few months so see how it's going. Right now it's about what I wanted it to be, basically just wanted something that looked amazing on my 77in OLED and this fit the bill. Hopefully they add an update where you can drink tons of gasoline. Edit: Oh, and the ability to rebind keys. That's kind of a dealbreaker for me in terms of sticking with it for a while.
