Reviews
Movement felt choppy and the auto aim for ranged weapons was more annoying than helpful.
Buen juego, espera una promoción y cómpralo

Guys, I waited way too long to play this game. I had both this and Dead Cells, and I guess I figured I'd just play dead cells because they looked so similar. This game is a blast. Been cruising through it on the steam deck during a work trip. If you are like me, and have this in your library, or are looking during a sale or something, just play it. It's fantastic.
This isn't a roguelike, roguelite, or like Dead Cells at all. This is a loosely and linear metroidvania. I say loosely because while you do get the generic powerups but only backtrack to find secrets in previous maps you missed or unable to access. There are only a few selections of melee weapons and firearms. But in the end, you'll just attack and dodge. There are Skills that you can activate. But it might as well be 1 Skill in your load out because beside going back to the HUB area and reaching a new teleporter for the first time, using the Healing Skill is the most consistent way to heal. The other Skill slot is for whatever you prefer. There is a skill tree but it is mostly just boring passives like more damage and more HP. The combat will be kept very simplistic from beginning to end. There are reused enemies and bosses you already fought in midgame to endgame with a modified existing attack and/or extra attack. You're always moving forward with shortcut doors, naturally fully see the whole map excluding secrets. The bosses are simplistic and not hard. It'll take about 9 hours more or less to 100% the maps and secrets. The game have a rarity gear system and is a soft looter. Over all, 7.5/10. It isn't boring or bad, but the game just feels lacking. The game is too short and linear. It keeps the pacing reasonable and enjoyable enough, by barely having the need to explore and have diverged paths.
Pretty solid platformer. Progression as you unlock skills and find new gear is quite satisfying. Game isn't extremely challenging but it's engaging and delivers. Overall: o/ It's a Yep! for me.
TL; DR: Pros: [olist] [*]Great pixel art [*]Great music [*]Great voice acting [*]Movement feels fluid and combat feels snappy at the start of the game. [/olist] Cons: [olist] [*]Story is greatly disappointing. [*]After the first few areas, combat increasingly begins to feel unfair, with the dodge mechanic being particularly bad in that regard. [*]Loot system is insultingly bad. [*]Very, very little change in gameplay mechanics over the course of the game. [*]Most skills are uninteresting and not enjoyable to use. [*]Areas begin to drag on, with the final major area being particularly bad, feeling as though the developers were deliberately padding the game's last area to meet some arbitrary gameplay minimum. [/olist]

Foregone has promise. It really does. Fantastic pixel art, a great soundtrack, good voice acting, and relatively fluid combat at the beginning are all points in its favor. But the game just positively drags on with very, very little change in the core function of your character, their capabilities, or the overall gameplay. The loot system is both insulting and depressing. There is very, very little variance in the things that drop for you, with the game using a color-tier mechanic to indicate rarity -- but also a (sort of) hidden area-based mechanic to determine item level. There are a total of six melee weapons (short sword, falchion, daggers, spear, gunchucks, and warscythe), and five ranged weapons (pistol, shock pistol, burst rifle, shotgun, and longbow), with the only variation between these types a few skill tie-ins and generic stat bonuses. The game also seems to favor some weapon types over others, with gunchucks and warscythes being the rarest drops in my playthrough. The issue isn't necessarily that more weapon types are needed, it's more that outside of your baseline attacks, there's not really any benefit to one weapon type over another save your playstyle. Skills are ultimately boring. Your dash power is the first you get, providing a charge-through mechanic. Others you'll find are a screen-wide attack, a straight-line beam of energy, a projectile nullifier, a basic shield, a healing power, and a couple of others that I honestly couldn't be bothered to care anything more about. The skills were so pointless as to almost not even have them, with the most infuriating part being the recharge mechanism for all skills -- you have to score melee hits to recharge your powers. The story fancies itself grand in scope, but has about as much depth as a kiddie pool. Other than being told that there's been this big war between these two countries, you ultimately learn very, very little about the game world over the course of gameplay. What little lore there is is provided in the form of journals you occasionally find throughout the world, almost all of which are written from the perspective of some random lab researcher or security personnel speaking about some sort of containment failure regarding certain experiments, along with three projects codenamed "Hera", "Poseidon", and "Demeter". The game does ultimately reveal some things, but by the time the payoff happens, the game has dragged on for so long that the "big reveal" that they've been holding off basically goes over like a wet fart and doesn't hit at all. If the game was about one-third shorter or there was more substantial variation in skills, loot drops, effects, or the like, it would be much better.
