i will always and forever play every game these developers make oh my GOD. if you liked Before Your Eyes u better play this and if you don't know what that is u better play them both
The game definitely didn't hit as hard as Before Your Eyes did, but it was still really enjoyable and I played the whole thing in one sitting. I think my experience was overshadowed by how good the first game was.
This was a really intriguing and cute game. The ending had me in a few tears but overall great story! Honestly wished we were able to merge back with the baby so both of them could have been raised with love in a good family.
still cant believe i acc cried for a video game. But thank you, this game is awesome.
After playing Before Your Eyes quite a while ago, I found out those devs were making this game and had thought about getting it when it came out. Instead, I decided to just now get it, especially during the Summer Sale. And I must say, it feels like quite a step up from BYE, not that that game was bad in any way.
Gameplay
The gameplay here builds off of the webcam eye tracking tech that BYE had, where now you're using it in a much more interactive fashion to do telekinesis. It's not the most complex thing as this at the end of the day is still a story-based game, but it was a lot of fun using the telekinetic abilities, whether that's blinking to activate items, or using the mouse to drag items around. It especially got crazy towards the endgame when
you're sneaking out of the AIO facility with Cleo, and when you as the alien go to save the family from Elliott.
And throughout the game you get more telekinetic abilities, but I won't be going into those for spoiler purposes. Needless to say it gets hella interesting.
Story & Characters
This game just like BYE is story-rich. And I must say there is a lot of layers to this story from simply being a telekinetic baby helping out an emotionally struggling family. From a surface level I thought having this tech corporation wanting the baby seemed a bit forced to make the story interesting from family troubles, but it actually feels quite fitting and they use certain gameplay elements
i.e. the closed eyes to see how the family is doing
to help make things feel more cohesive. The family this baby is apart of also is very likable, and the voice performances were really well done here. It was nice seeing their developments throughout the game as they deal with this baby and the events around him.
Performance & Polish
Game ran quite well at high settings on my 1440p monitor. I will say though there is certain sections mid-game
i.e. when you're in the crib moving around the AIO facility
that visuals feel a bit jittery, and I can see my frames drop as well. Other than that it ran quite well, and I think the visuals here are a good step-up from BYE. A somewhat similar plastic-based style here, but characters look a bit more detailed here with pretty polished expressions, with some moments feeling only a bit stiff.
Value
I was able to beat the game in 4 hours, and it may be another to 100% all achievements here. I would say the game is worth the full $20 if you liked Before Your Eyes, or if you're looking for a story game that has innovative gameplay. I got this game on sale, so I would say it would especially be worth it if you got it on sale, but that goes for almost any game.
Verdict: Greatly Recommend
It made me cry but was one of the best experiences I've had from playing a game.
Roleplayed a baby, cried like a baby
What an adorable game. What an adorable story. Simply put: PLAY IT. A short story that I enjoyed every minute of.
Such a great game overall and i highly recomend to anyone that is bored and has some time on their hands to sit and beat this all in one go.
