Welp, short card puzzle game with an interesting story to lead it, cool backgrounds and even though i am not a fan of dungeon crawlers, that makes it be just enough of that to not frustrate me
This game has no business being as engaging as it is. The combination of vibes here is immaculate, as this game combines old school PC game aesthetics and an early internet age mystery tale that lands squarely between urban legend and creepypasta. This results in a creepy, gripping, and somehow even cozy journey through a bizarre forgotten bargain bin PC game. The gameplay is a pretty odd take on solitaire but at this point I just need to repeat the name of the game to tell you that. The only real downside would be that its a bit short. Those looking for a bit more game for that $15-20 price point should look elsewhere, but I personally feel that the breezy runtime results in a compact quality adventure that truly doesn't waste a minute of your time. Highly recommend.

short but sweet for the campaign but i can tell im going to be playing this at least til 100% AND then some. support great projects like these!! some might think the price is a bit much but i think we put too much pressure on devs to make long projects to "get our money's worth", but with games like these, they really feel like a treat! definitely excited for this dev's next projects and will be checking out the other games! well done!!!!
The 90s FMV aesthetic is easily the best part. It does a good job copying that cheesy interactive movie look, and the whole presentation commits to it. The actual solitaire is just okay. It's simple, leaves very little room for experimentation, and the upgrade system is basically a straight line. The style is doing most of the heavy lifting, but even that isn't enough to make the game particularly memorable. At the current price, I can't recommend it. If you see it in a deep sale and the 90s FMV gimmick really appeals to you, maybe give it a shot. Otherwise, there's not much here beyond the aesthetic.

Forbidden Solitaire is a blast!! I grew up loving all the weird solitaire versions you'd find on flash game sites, and this definitely scratched the itch of "Solitaire but way more interesting mechanics". The story is very fun, and I love how hard it leans into the 90s jank of it all (FMV included) while not bogging the gameplay down. A really great little game that, much like Inscryption, I'm sure I'll pick back up every once in awhile. Also not directly about the game, but: [spoiler]I was so stoked to see the "making of" after beating it! I love getting to know more about how games come together, and it was so interesting to learn this was a collab between two fairly different studios. Very cool model for shipping something unique for both teams![/spoiler]
The horror element is perfectly creepy, but not so much that it's too much for those who are a bit more sensitive to jump scares and horror in general (Like myself!) But where this game truly shines is the actual Solitaire gameplay! It is so addicting, I find myself returning just to play it!
The violence is a lot of fun, and so is the game.
