this is the absolute worst game in gaming history, playing it feels like your getting a vasectomy while sucking monkey nuts whilst a donkey is kicking your balls. 10/10
This game has the best fundamental fight mechanics ive ever seen but its ruined every year by the devs who have never seen a balanced character in their life
Woe to all ye who enter here. Turn back for ye sanity. When I entered, I expected a fun medieval fighting game with a revolutionary combat system that included full guards and neat parry animations. What I got was an abusive relationship where I enjoy playing a dude with a katana and then four burly men decide to swing their axes at me all at once and I'm stunlocked until they pick me up over their shoulder and toss me into a pit like the movie 300. I thought I was safe booting up For Honor today. I put on some music, have a laugh as I get into the first lobby. Four Berserkers. "It's okay!" I think to myself. "Two of them are bots! Surely I'll just wait them out!" Wo' to ye, my innocent self. For lo and behold, a Virtuosa. "It's fine! I can deal with a Virtuosa!" Rep three hundred. But wait, there's more. My tale of sorrow is not yet done. This game haunts all those who once enjoyed playing it. I lie down, try to rest, and I swear I can hear "INCREDIBILIS!" from my closet. "What's that!? Who's there!" I proclaim, getting up from my bed. I open the closet, nothing. Then I hear from down the hall "BANDIR SHIRAFNI!" And I hide under the covers of my safe haven for fear of the short-cannibal-woman-who-eats-you. Then as I drift off, listening to my calming music, I get that strange sensation of falling and jolting awake- but I'm not falling. I hear "MISERUM! AD MORTEM INUMICUS!" 10/10. i'm still bad at the game.
I think if a different studio had made this game, say Valve or Respawn, this could've been a very very good game. Unfortunately for us, Ubislop made this game. It's been 9 years, nearly 10, and the servers are still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 100% chance at least one person will randomly disconnect from the game every dominion match you play, which is the only gamemode most people play cause everything else takes too long. Duels are cool, but takes like 2 minutes to cue for like 5 30 second matches. You'd think with how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the servers are, they'd at least add a reconnect feature, but no they're busy making new busted characters for the whales to buy. The combat, when it works, works. It's fun, it's dynamic, it's cool, and it's something you can always get better at. Even when I lose a fight if its close I feel happy. But as I said earlier the newer paid characters will just always 100% of the time be more busted than the other heroes. Its really annoying playing interesting characters that unfortunately will often lose you the game, and the importance of character choice is 10x more important in 4v4 and teamfights. I hate Ubisoft more than any other studio, mostly because of how they handled this game. On PC and Xbox I'm like Rep 300 and I really would like to give this game a good review. But it doesn't deserve one, and any new players should find something else to get into. If I could go back in time I'd be like that Interstellar bookcase scene screaming at my younger self to never download this game.
in 2026 unless you have a veteran player guiding you, showing you the ropes and doing matches with you...just do not even bother. This game has the same issues that MechWarrior online has, another game I think is awesome in theory. The issue is after a PvP game has been out for 10+ years, the only people left are some of the best at the game. There's not much room for a new player that doesn't know every character and how to deal with them (just like knowing all the mechs in MWO) they're just going to lose every fight and feel frustrated and have no fun. Some matches are such a steamroll it's easy to just feel hopeless. Matchmaking is not great, because there are so few people playing it's the same vets over and over. New players get chased off and the downward spiral continues. Personally I have a veteran friend to guide me, and it's been fun and all but without that I would have already uninstalled. For that reason I have to not recommend this to anyone. Even in the best conditions being a new player in For Honor 2026 is a vertical climb of an experience.
The average for honor player I encounter genuinely thinks they deserve to live and it sickens me.
Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to have your blood pressure so high that a doctor would question your ability to still be alive? Have you ever thought about wanting to hate everyone in the entire world, so strung up on rage that you impersonate a bottle rocket the moment someone asks if you're okay? Would you want to be more emotional than a woman after being told "You're overreacting" to some utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is actually disrespectful as ♥♥♥♥? Then my boy... I have the game for you. Play this game. Play the PvP. It's so unbalanced and niche and toxic and high cortisol that your heart health will be worse than your doctor tells you it would be if you ate 3 pounds of bacon a day everyday. Have you not wanted to hate the world, yourself, and life as a whole? Play bots. Play the story. PvE. Low cortisol. It's fun, until you release the bots at level 1 are too easy. How do you get more difficult bots? Well I'll tell you, sonny... You play the PvP. You'll tell yourself you won't do PvP. You will not, for a long time. But then, something will hit you after 1v4ing level 1 bots for months on end; You want a little more challenge. So you go to PvP. Just a couple games, you tell yourself. You'll do ten or so games to boost your MMR, that way you can fight level 2 bots in bot gamemodes. But you never get there. Because you got your ass whooped by monkeyspunkbarrel420 who used Shaolin and proceeded to send your ass through the wall, through the floor, off a ledge, parried every light attack, kicked you in the ♥♥♥♥ and then forcefed you ♥♥♥♥ like they have a feeder kink and then your MMR never raised. Then you'll realize... The level 1 bots are Kenough. You like whooping ass. You enjoy your executions. You keep playing bots. Your cortisol lowers. But then you think to yourself. You won't get another shaolin player in pvp to do that to you. And you're right, kinda. You'll meet a raider. And they'll teach you the meaning of hate with light attacks that don't even register on screen before they hit. 12/10 I have over 1000 hours on this game on console and I still play on PC. It's a toxic, abusive relationship. But bots are low cortisol, and my heart doesn't have palpations. For the Knights.
Best game I've ever hated. If you buy this game, you are signing up for the most toxic relationship of your life. There is nothing else like it on the market. The 3-directional combat system is unmatched. When you're in the zone, parrying light attacks, deflecting, and winning a 1v3 gank, it’s the biggest dopamine hit in gaming. The drip is incredible, and the executions feel heavy and brutal. But man, the lows are devastating. You will get light-spammed. You will get ran over by a four-stack of whatever broken hero Ubisoft buffed this month. You will watch your teammates stand on the opposite side of the map doing absolutely nothing while you get executed. The learning curve isn't a curve, it’s a brick wall, and the community is sweating through their shirts 24/7. 10/10 game, I hate it so much.
I don't see how anyone could ever possibly hate this game, it's a nice chill pvp sim. Definitely recommend grabbing it while you can
over 100 reps just to hate every second of it. This game is like a nasty ass smell that you kinda like so you keep coming back to it. I'd rather scrape my nuts across a football field covered in broken glass if it meant I never had the displeasure of learning what this game was.
