The game boy aesthetic is not really my thing, but it is pulled off very well. It has some definite interface issues, like not being able to rearrange your items, or there being no way to exit the game from the main menu. Doesn't drag the experience down much, just minor annoyances. Early on there's not much to the character customization, and there's no particular reason to specialize characters or build one way or another. But once you get enough weapon upgrade choices around midgame it starts becoming more interesting to build characters in different ways. And finally I think the story was one of the better written ones among the indie RPGs that I've played. It moves quickly over its ~8 hour runtime and there were some developments I didn't expect.
Great short game. Really interesting and fun combat and leveling system. I really enjoyed building the characters in different ways. The only real downside is that you're only really building your characters to either shoot or throw items, and that's not a huge amount of variety, but it's what I expect for a short little game like this. The game isn't very long at all, coming in around 6-8 hours. There's no need to grind unless you're going for achievements. It doesn't overstay its welcome and ends when it needs to. The story is solid. Big recommend from me.
Short RPG but very fun. If you liked the Final Fantasy Legend Saga from 1 to 3, you will certainly love this. RPG's don't have always to last 80 hours. This was a short but very pleasant experience. Go for it
Works great on the deck! Really itches that retro itch! Feels like a Sunday afternoon in 1995!
Really liking the game so far. Combat and crafting systems are smooth. Graphics and music are great and fit the GB style well.
This game is dope as hell! Its like if fallout was a retro turn based RPG! Love the fast paced battles and the soundtrack is as fresh as it gets.
Short, sweet, full of spirit and with a crazy cool chiptune soundtrack to boot! There's also a lot of creativity in the battle system with the ammo and wargear systems. For once, I actually WANT to use my items in an RPG.
Phenomenal JRPG with great pacing for those of us who lead busy adult lives. Also that battle UI is a freaking masterpiece of pixel art!
Fantastic game! This game is an old school throwback style Jrpg, it is fun, mostly lighthearted in feel, BUT very dark and post apocalyptic in tone. Very easy to pick up and learn for newcomers and veterans alike. Honestly this game is worth the full price value its marked at. I bought it for myself on a discount I think, but enjoyed it enough that I bought it for a friend at full price too and if I had any other friends I knew would play a quality JRPG theyd be getting a copy too! Quick paced gameplay, it does have a 6hr speed run trophy, and for some people that may be a deal breaker, I however dont have an issue with it. It took be about 9.5 hours to beat the game on my first run, and now that i know where everything is i think a 6hr or less speedrun is very doable should i feel inclined to give it a go. All in all great game and I will definitely keep my eye out for more from this dev. No spoilers, but the story is realistic in certain ways that really made me happy, in a morose sort of way.
