They made a game that requires multiple players working together to stand a chance but forgot to make it multiplayer. This is less of a standalone game and more a concept demo for Guns of Icarus Online. I wouldn't have given it a negative review if it weren't for the fact that they are still charging money for this.

I bought this game expecting a sort of singleplayer Guns Of Icarus. Instead I got a boringly repetetive game, that tries to keep you busy by having to manage different tasks under pressure. And fails miserably at that. You can savely ignore two thirds of those tasks, which takes the pressure out of it completely. It becomes a mindnumbingly boring game of repeating the exact same routine over and over and over... The "campaign" consists of several flights over featureless terrain. It lets you chose between several paths at the begining of each flight, which is pointless, as it really doesnt matter which one you take. As such the incentive to replay it, after you finished the whole game in less than an hour, is none whatsoever.
Somewhat challenging on the first few go arounds, but after a few, got quite a bit better at defending the ship, which ment i had less repairs to do. I'd recommend taking the longest possible path till the last flight. Means you can equip the Icarus with better guns, and armor to survive the last flight for longer. Downside would be that if you do get a second person joining in, it's a bummer the game doesn't really allow for a campaign run, only the individual flight paths.
I played this game for a few hours many many years ago with my younger brother. Probably on a school night. I've never really wanted to replay it, and I don't remember it being super good. But something about it was memorable. And perhaps cozy.
Don't mind all the negative reviews, they're from misinformed gamers who only played Guns Of Icarus Online first and can't appreciate that this is a completely different gaming experience. It's like complaining that Pokemon Pinball is nothing like Pokemon Red & Blue. Guns Of Icarus Online is a cooperative arena shooter where you and a crew face off against other crews in gladiatorial sky battles. Guns Of Icarus, or Flight Of The Icarus as it's now been renamed, is a roguelike arcade shooter. Nothing alike except that both pilot a steam airship. There is no winning the game, there is no beating anything, it's you set adrift against an infinite hostile sky. All you can do is rage against the storm and take as many pirates with you in a blaze of glory. Relive the epic tale of Icarus in a steampunk setting! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=142263241
Looks like an unfinished demo or proof of concept being sold as a complete game. Loses its appeal after 5 or 10 minutes of gameplay.
Reine Zeitverschwendung.
