There are so many pets that are not used in the adventure mode. Yet they do nothing when added to your personal tanks. It seems this game has a lot of potential for more complex gameplay. Way too many pets were added and yet left out of the adventure mode of the game. As if they were abandoned to launch the game in a simple version. Right now, you basically do the same thing for all adventure levels. Sure, the fish look a little different, and better than that the pets function differently, and yeahhh the bosses are all mildly different, but everything costs the same. The game doesn't scale in difficulty as you advance. The fish are always priced the same, you always need 5k then 10k then 15k to advance. There are no bosses on the 15k level; just the same you've done before... except it takes longer. I do like the originality of the hazards you fight. Salt, algae, bacteria; that's really neat biological wise. I feel like this game has all the bits and pieces for more complex levels. Other than a more challenging boss on the 15k levels--not just more of the same mob, but something more challenging. It's fun, worth the price on sale, but I hope the maker goes back and finishes the game. It really feels like this game should be in Early Access. There is also no way to hide the UI for your custom tanks if you'd like to use it as a screensaver. There are also "secret fish" that you can not find without having to google it. No hints in game. To me, you should be able to 100% complete a game by playing it, not by following instructions on the internet. Especially when these secret fish require very specific setups including having performance-saving features disabled.
English: The tutorial and the interface are NOT understandable. The artwork looks LITTLE worked on. The player doesn't have any kind of information or life bar for each fish to know how much life they have left. I was looking forward to trying it, but I couldn't enjoy it because of the technical and artistic difficulties. After a while I will check the game again for improvements and change this review. I can't recommend this game, sorry.
TL;DR if you were interested enough to scroll this far on the page, then this game is for you. Plus its only 5 bucks and 40 Mb, so just get it already. Such a nice little treat to come back to and mess with for a bit at the end of a work day. Fishlets plays similar to the classic Insaniquarium, though more grounded. If that last part means nothing to you then heres the gist: Adventure mode, this is where youll play through levels or "tanks" and where youll spend some time unlocking the various fish to be had in the other mode. This section is adequate, though not quite as gamey as insaniquarium was, youll have the same choice of a small medium and large fish which basically act the same but drop different amounts of money. The money you earn in the level gets you more fish, better food, some unique "pets" and ultimately the ticket to move on to the next tank. Completing one section of levels unlocks some fish for the idle mode. My Tanks, now this is where this game shines above and beyond what insaniquarium did. You have the choice of decorating and placing various fresh or saltwater fish in up to 8 tanks. The choices here are very nice with lots of plants and corals, critters, fish of many sizes. Each fish (as long as its requirements are met) will generate money for the my tank mode passively. This will be a treat for any idle game enjoyers. Ultimately, this is a very nice addition to the aquarium game scene and i cant wait to see where this game can go with active development.
it's a super cute game! the adventure mode was fun at first, but after a while it feels tedious since each level is pretty much the same thing. i disliked how some of the invasive species worked, because if RNG wills it, your entire tank will die in less than a minute no matter how fast you click on them. i mainly saw this issue with planaria and one of the saltwater pests, not sure what those were called. tank mode is also fun and relaxing, though i wish you were allowed to place corals on the sand rather than being restricted to the rocks. even so, i was obsessed with this for quite a while, and i recommend it to anyone looking for something easy and relaxing to focus on.
Im obsessed with this game! i was trying to decide between different cozy fish games and i def made the right choice. the designs are so cute :)
Scratches that 'gotta collect them all' itch with an idle game and tons of cute fishies! I love finding the rare and unique fish, and the secret ones were a huge surprise! The community is also super friendly and helpful, so glad I joined the discord. Adventure mode is also a decent challenge, but not too hard, cuz you know, it's an idle game. I also got really into tank decoration and making it pretty. Themed tanks are fun to curate for sure, working on a freshwater melenistic design, and really enjoying it!
Very cute and chill game <3
Great clicker/Idle game! The aquarium theme fits well. Adventure mode is a neat way to unlock stuff for the idle portion of the game.
I'm gonna give it a thumbs down for now cause there are some huge caveats to this game especially compared to Insaniquarium. I really want to like this game tho. I'd like to state i've only played an hour or so and it quickly became tedious. Due to this, my review will be based on the first tank. (4? levels) I will revisit this again and update my review when I've gone through more of it. First of all, gameplay is in general way slower than Insaniquarium. You need to feed less, Shells (which are coins) drop less, Critters (Larry the snail) moves way way way way slower. One of the strong things to Insaniquarium was that the aquarium, quickly became insane. Thisone however does not become insane in the slightest. You can buy a substantial amount of critters (These are what you'd get at the end of beating a stage in Insaniquarium) but there is no logic to them. While Larry would move around the bottom of the tank, trying to get the most expensive item in the tank at that point, these critters just are there moving around at random. This means that even tho you might have spend your shells on 5 critters, those critters can randomly walk the same path and stick together. In practice this means you might only have two critters catching stuff instead of five. It doesn't feel like there is any logic to them as there was in insaniquarium. The fish are on a rather exact timer and you can deffo feel it. When you buy new fish in bulk, you better be able to feed those fish in bulk at the same time as well. Tho these are things that were the case with the original insaniquarium as well, those were different less complex days and I would have loved to see more variation between individual fish of the same species. There are some balance issues to me especially with the tiniest fish. They drop shells worth "15" and over the course of time, upgrade to fish dropping the same amount as lvl 2 fish, namely shells worth "50". I think the dev went with this because that is how the original game did it, however the speed of the original game was way, way higher and critters were way way more intelligent. These amounts would work for a game that has the same overal gamespeed as Insaniquarium, but that isn't this game. There is never a single reason to buy expensive fish because you have grinded too many cheap fish early on. The game actively forbids you to build and INSANE Aquarium. it does this by limiting your use of food. There is this whole mechanic that you have to clean your tank. Food that drops to the bottom becomes stale and starts to filthy up your tank. Worse is that if a fish eats stale food from the bottom, they instantly die. If you want to have lots of fish you'll be unable to manage this perfectly and instantly lose quite some due to "food poisoning". If you even start to spiral out of control more, you'll have to chose between letting your fish die by lack of food or having your entire tank wiped due to its cleanliness falling to 0 (and this can go very véry quickly.) Instead of aliens, there are now bacteria. I'd say they aren't announced great. The music doesn't pause iirc, there is no alarm sound, there is a red warning text at the bottom of the screen but if you happen to play on a rather big screen and you're trying to feed the fish at the top, you're screwed. Next to that, the bacteria are not that obvious. They kind of mask with the tank due to the decoration. So far there isn't a real click battle you have to perform but just click on the bacteria to get them out. I guess it's now more a skill on eyesight instead of a skill on how fast you can click. I rather test dexterity than play spot the differences. To buy your fish, you have to fold out a pane. The whole mechanic of buying fish is kind of required to play through adventure mode so I don't see why it shouldn't be open. This is why I always leave the pane open. However, every time after you've successfully removed the bacteria from your tank, the pane closes. Especially when you have a lot of fish to take care of, when every click counts, this is incredibly annoying. It's clear that a lot of love has gone in this game tho. I do believe this is a one guy making this game and I respect that. This might be a game close to the insaniquarium experience but to me it falls short a lot on certain key aspects of the original game. I hope there will come rebalances in future updates and that maybe other tanks are more fun. It didn't feel like fun anymore after an hour, while insaniquarium is a game i'd play for hours straight.
insaniquarium vibes but without the insanity
