It's like Insaniquarium, but more laid back and with a more in depth fish tank mode for people who like Idle games for the end game.
A really fun and relaxing game. I found this game after searching for an aquarium themed game to fulfill my need for fishies. After countless of hours of scrolling, I discovered this gem. Its got decoration, beautiful pixel art, my some of my favorite fish (rays, puffer fish, SHRIMPS, etc), and an adventure mode reminiscent of Insaniquarium. I cannot get over how pretty and cool the fish are and how relaxing music the music is.
I adore this game so much! The fish designs are so cute, and I love being able to decorate my tanks however I want, and make fun themed tanks after all the different fish! However, I have come across a bug a bug that completely ruins the game. All of the progress I have made in the game will randomly reset despite the fact that I haven't preset the "reset game data" button. All the fish and decor I unlocked through adventure mode, and the upgrades and all the tanks gone along with the fish inside them. The weird thing is I will have one remaining tank, with fish, but none of them will produce any money. after the first time this glitch happened I hit the "reset game data" button, and all seemed fine again. I made back my progress and built more tanks. Then it happened again. And I dont feel like resetting and doing all that over again just for all my progress to be glitched away. I would have put this in the discord, but I can't get into the discord either. I love this game so so much, and I want to play to play it again and look at all the cute fish. But I can't cause the bug ruins everything and I can't keep loosing all my fishes. I do hope you fix it, this game rocks otherwise, and i look forward to changing this review to a positive one. (this happened out of nowhere, i couldn't tell you what caused it if you're wondering)
Fun little game. I've played for 7 hours and haven't completed Adventure Mode or bought a second tank, so definitely worth the $5 I paid for it. Pros: -Graphics and music are nice. I really like the design of most of the fish and other creatures. -Let's me have fish I wouldn't have in real life -Some of the levels in Adventure Mode are fun Cons- Adventure Mode: -Fish require food too often. I'm not expecting realism because fish only get fed twice a day, but you have to keep your eye on the screen constantly and be ready with the food button -Fish starve too quickly -Fish die too easily to threats. Usually just takes a touch from a threat to kill them -Food becomes rotten as soon as it hits the substrate and it will kill your fish if they eat it -Foliage on some levels hides fish, so I've had them starve because I couldn't see the hungry indicator Cons- Tank Mode: -Everything is so expensive -As someone with aquariums, I thought I'd enjoy mixing fish and having an overloaded tank, but once I got close to 50 fish in the tank, it looked so crowded that it made me a little anxious (you can have up to 100 in a tank). Fish can be sold and that would help with the issue, but I need all the money I can generate right now.
Super cute lil fishies to feed and breed in idle mode and a fun adventure mode too. Still needs some work but well worth the price
amazing five stars
Nice game! Very slow progress at first, but it's not that bad finally!
an absolute joy to play. plenty of customization options that you unlock via adventure mode, and tonssss of little sea critters to choose from <3
A fun Insaniquarium-like, though it leans much more heavily into the virtual tank aspect, though it struggles with its adventure mode. Really, I'm happy to see anything reminiscent of Insaniquarium on the market at all.
THE GOOD

Huge variety of different fish types to collect in idle mode, as well as rare legendary fish that can apparently only be unlocked by breeding, reminiscent of Fish Tycoon. This variety applies to adventure mode as well, where you get completely different fish every biome.
Fish sprites are relatively detailed and very fun.
Fish have unique requirements for tanks (e.g. Saltwater vs Fresh, how many (if any) of their species they should be housed with, etc.)
Music is very nice. If not for nostalgia, I think I would prefer it to Insaniquarium's.
Large variety of tanks, with a new one for each of the adventure mode levels.
Has seven 'worlds' to go through in adventure mode.
Collecting shinies in the idle mode is fun.
Small fish can become shiny if they survive long enough (which they most certainly will), much like in Insaniquarium, and start to drop large amounts of money. Very cool.
No longer carpal tunnel simulator due to weaker aliens.

THE NEUTRAL

If food drops to the bottom of the tank, it has to be collected before fish eat it. If fish eat spoiled food there's a high chance that they'll just die immediately. This is... fine. It diversifies gameplay. But it doesn't scale well. Once you have enough fish, it becomes difficult to feed them all in time, let alone collect the money they drop and clean up after them.
The game overall leans heavily into realism. Instead of aliens invading your tank, you get algae blooms and bacteria.

THE BAD

Pets are gone. You *can* buy seven 'critters' at once, but there is only one type per biome, and they are not particularly significant in terms of their effects.
The alien replacement is similarly lacking. They spawn very infrequently, and are rather easily dispatched. The first biome's algae blooms not only do not directly attack fish but die in a single click.
Fish variety is lacking. There are three types of fish that you can buy, but none of them are particularly distinct from one another - they all eat the same food, and bigger fish are essentially just smaller fish but they drop more scales at once.
Fish do not meaningfully change between biomes.
Due to the above factors, gameplay between biomes is essentially identical, and always follows the same path with no room for experimentation.
This is a nitpick but not being able to manually name your fish is a bit of an annoyance. The random name generator is decent enough, though.
Overall I will recommend this game. It's a relaxing game and I find the virtual tanks engaging, and adventure mode is fun to hop into every now and then. However, I do get bored very quickly of adventure mode due to the fact that I am essentially just doing the same thing over and over again - I don't see myself replaying it once I've unlocked everything I can from it. The loss of pet and fish variety is, IMO, the most painful difference between this game and Insaniquarium. For starters, in Insaniquarium you could experiment with different loadouts of pets - do I take Niko for the early game? Prego to speed up my acquisition of guppies? Amp and Angie to torture my fish with an unending cycle of death and rebirth? Etc - there is none of that here. While in theory having seven pets per tank would be a boon, they're limited in power and to only one type per biome. Critters end up being an afterthought to me most of the time - something I buy when I have enough money that it no longer matters. And secondly, Insaniquarium had gameplay massively shift between biomes with completely different food chains. It was a fundamentally different game in each biome. In the first tank you're mostly focusing on guppies with the occasional carnivore (double Meryl spammers are in heaven), whereas in the second tank you want to get a solid base of guppies, rush them to tier 3 so that you don't accidentally kill your guppies while trying to ghostify them, and then switch focus to starcatchers. (Actually, Meryl is also useful here to boost how many starcatchers you can sustain.) In the fourth tank, on the other hand, the replacement of guppies with breeders means you'll be figuratively swimming in guppies, making Meryl virtually useless as you simply cannot collect all the money they will be dropping, forcing you to try and rush towards ultravores as soon as you can, at which point guppies and breeders become irrelevant and, if anything, distractions to keep Angie from resurrecting the fish you actually want to keep alive. Insaniquarium was not a very long game, and it definitely had less content than Fishlets does, but it did about as much as it could with its very simple 'feed fish, fight aliens!' concept. This is a very solid base for a game, and I am glad to have the opportunity to play it. But I really hope that the devs can polish up adventure mode a bit, bringing it up to the level of the virtual tanks and making it something worth playing just for its own sake. Sadly I do not think this would be an easy task, as it requires (IMO) fundamental overhauls. But the foundation is there. Is it worth 6$? Well, it's six ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dollars. It'll probably drop to less on sale. I've gotten my money's worth. Edit: To add on to this, I think the problem with Fishlets' adventure mode is that it sits in an uncomfortable middle ground between idle game and active game. Having to manually collect every scale dropped by your fish, combined with food spoiling as soon as it hits the ground, means you have to constantly be focusing on the game, lest your fish all die in a valiant attempt to disprove the five second rule. But that's about it. There are no strategies to make the early game go by faster, and there is no optimizing your tank economy or coming up with builds. Every level plays almost exactly the same. If adventure mode was more of an idle mode, that would be fine. Not ideal, but fine. If adventure mode was more engaging, that would be great! But as is, the game demands your attention but does very little to reward you for providing it.
