I played this game for about an hour and came to the following conclusion - This game is kind of fun for about 30 minutes. I found a decent amount of bugs during this first hour (including once where I could fish on land) and completed *almost* all the available quests, but I will touch on the quests later. I also found a few instances of typos or grammatically incorrect sentences.
Gameplay notes

WASD should be used or at least toggleable as the movement keys
There is no collision between characters
No feedback when you catch a fish (there should at least be an audio que). For a major part of the game, fishing is not very interactive - you press a key and then walk away
When moving through the world, it is often hard to tell if your boat is even moving because the whole screen is one color, or the scenery is all the same
Mark fishy guy and the archepelago on the map
The character needs movement animation
The game needs more audio (catching fish, boat noises)
There should be a dialogue for trying to enter a boat you do not own
The storefront UI is OK (boats menu is a little cluttered) but trying to buy fuel is very tedious. You should be able to Buy X instead of clicking multiple times
Adding onto the last comment, there should be a Sell X when selling fish and a confirm dialogue
Traversing the map is boring - you can't fish while you move (or do anything else for that matter) and considering how large the world is a major part of the game is travelling - which is one of the most boring things in the game
ESC key should close menus
Player movement on land is a bit clunky and easy to get stuck
I only caught the same 5 fish, even after fishing in different quadrants of the map. This could be a feature of Early Access though

Quests
I thought I should make Quests it's own section, as it's meant to be a large part of the game. The problem is, upon being dropped into the world there is very little in terms of quests that can actually be done. For starters, there is 4(?) quests I could fine. One of them involved bringing some white powder to a friend across the map (I'll leave it at that...), another involved giving a random dude ONE MILLION DOLLARS which is crazy money, another involved buying a mansion for something like $900K, and the last one I didn't even know I had started when I found a guy who gave me $70K. The two that I did complete gave me I think around $70K or $80K, which means that I had approx $150K from quests. I fished for probably around half an hour, and at the end of my session ended up with about $250K. Considering now there's no more quests I can do for money, and the low amount of cash you get from selling fish, I don't think I will try and buy the mansion or give random guy a million bucks, or buy the luxury boats (I got up to the Miami speedboat). I can't even afford the Santa hat.
Things I liked
The music in the game was pretty nice, although the lack of sound effects made it pretty repetitive after a while. The art of the boats is nice, they look good, even if the art for the overall world is poor. The fishing rod looks good too. I also liked the pixelated UI design, it fits well, although the menus can be slightly crowded. Once there is some feedback given to the player that they have actually caught a fish, then I think fishing might not be as boring. In it's current state, I would say that the game requires a lot of time investment to get anywhere, and is really not that fun to play once the quests have been completed. Travelling through the world is boring, fishing is boring, and that makes up basically all the gameplay. To the devs, I have a whole document of raw, unformatted feedback I can send through to you including screenshots of bugs and how to reproduce them and screenshots of typos/grammatically incorrect sentences and the correct implementation. As of the day I am writing this review, the game was only released yesterday, considering that I didn't find anything too gamebreaking, the game seems relatively stable
For $0.59 (on sale when purchased) you could do worse. The first release of this game is very rough and some tweaks need to be made to the gameplay. This review is for the initial version 1 release. The main gameplay loop is you fish and eat the fish you catch as needed to avoid hunger death, then you return to the harbor and sell the fish. There are different types of fish you can catch however they don't matter because there is no inventory and the only thing that changes is the weight the fish provides. The way the economy works is when you catch a fish its weight value is added to your total and the maximum weight you can carry is tied to the ship you own. When you sell the fish at the harbor you get a set price * the total weight of fish you caught. This means catching rare fish isn't as important in the current build. There are a few side quests you can do like a Scarface inspired drug delivery to a guy in the lower portion of the game world for a free 70k. There are random money bags you can find around the world that act as secrets and can boost your money quickly. Due to these factors being available right at the start of a new game the economy is fairly broken and one never needs to fish for early boat upgrades. Also there is some type of research quest, but since the quests are always running in the background I don't even know what I did as the quest auto completed and gave me free money. I assume the research quest is tied to catching new fish for your fish log which contains the different types. The main thing you spend cash on besides new boats is cosmetic character items. I have discovered there is a mansion that generates free money for you once you buy it which seems inspired by the asset system in GTA Vice City. There is also a man named Capitalist Santa you need to give 1,000,000 to for some kind of unlock. That is the extent of the game currently, I am not sure if an ending exists or if it just lasts indefinitely. If it remains open ended with no win condition then I can see the game losing all replayability once you have unlocked the ship you want and have done all of the quests. Oh you also spend money on fuel for your boat, but it is cheap and there is no cap so you only need to buy massive amounts of fuel once and forget about it. The boats you purchase each have different carry weights and speed values. The game has some typos and bugs that exist as mentioned in the first review by Peanut Butter. I found a very bad bug in the programming that allows you to phase through a wall at a certain point in the map and break the boundaries of the game. In fact I held up and my blip on the map was able to eventually escape the window (in the program the y value for the character position was probably some crazy negative value like past -1000 or something by the time I stopped). Overall I am recommending this game because despite the bugs it is fun for the price paid and will probably see updates addressing some of the current issues, after all it is still early days for this game (literally came out two days before this review). Also I think supporting independent one man game devs is important. If the game dev wants to add me on steam feel free and I can replicate the escape the bounds bug in order for it to be fixed.
This is simply the greatest game of all time. Such rich gameplay coupled with such beautiful environmental story telling, with characters as deep and human as real world individuals. I truly cannot overstate just how much I love this game. Such a beautiful dance of fishing and classic... Truly spectacular
Received this as a wedding gift from a good friend, ending up causing my divorce 3 hours later. Incredible game, visually stunning and gameplay so immersive it caused me to leave my partner of 10 years. Quests are incredible, I seriously feel like I am fishing in the waters of heaven itself. VR version please.

Not even going to lie, I really like this game, despite it being really light on content (even though it came out not that long ago) I love the art style & the gameplay - I can't wait to see where this goes in the future!
Fisherman Classic is a 2D very retro pixel 8-bit top down survival game where you fish for a living, eat fish, sell fish, buy boats... well, it's got more depth and interest than a 2D retro pixel platformer, but the depth of this game is nothing compared to far better retro casual games like Stardew Valley. The characters in this game aren't even animated! The technical execution is also extremely poor, even compared to other pixel games like Stardew Valley. The game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. That's right, only 3. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason. Fisherman Classic is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. Note: Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not count towards your Game Collector counts, achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
