This is the best game ever made. I literally put in over 45 hours in like 3-4 days. I've considered emailing the developers to thank them personally. I've suggested it to so many people and they love it, too! I am not able to keep fish currently and this game feels so rewarding and personable. I've made different accounts and dedicated one just to betta. I have found that more than once or twice, I've thought "This game would really be great if X was added" only to find out that it was! Its so much fun unlocking new fish and new tanks and gravel. (I can't wait to see what breeding/genetics might entail.) This game is easy to play over and over again, and easy to sink hours into it if wanted, and its also perfect for just popping on for like short periods of time, too. The fish are always happy to see you! My wife has made an account and now she is excited about fish keeping, too. Thank you for that! Some things I'd like to note; The game is beautiful and the controls and camera controls are excellent, however, the controls are a little hard to navigate at first. After taking the time to learn how to use the camera settings to my liking I am so glad they went with this design. You can zoom in and look at whichever angle you need, seeing individual glittering specks of sand and detailed gravel. I often place the camera fish (after playing you will understand camera fish) inside of caves and watch my fish. There isn't like a guide or tutorial kind of leading you through. I appreciated it, some may not. If you find yourself confused or lacking direction, just play around and look at things because it becomes very self explanatory. I am glad I can make a new account for whichever reason and jump right in. The developers emphasize that this game is made to be played the way you enjoy it! The settings available are good, thank you for the setting that keeps fish stable! I saw that there will be an option to slow time and that will be nice, however, please keep the setting that keeps fish needs stable! I am aware that slowing time will help the perimeters degrade less quickly, but I very much like the peace of mind knowing one tank is stable while looking at another. The tanks still need slight maintenance with that setting on which I find reasonable and it balances out the gameplay and upkeep with multiple tanks. On that note, I saw that the tank perimeters simulating is almost ready to ne implemented a please over a setting that keeps those stable as well! I have been passionate about fish my whole life and owned many tanks, however perimeters are always a struggle for me as I have a learning disability. It has been so wonderful to enjoy fish without worrying about poisoning or suffocating them on accident :,) I am worried if the settings were removed, I would not play the game as much. PS I've always preferred saltwater but this game has truly ignited a love for freshwater. The fish are wonderfully designed and have many color variations. Even the same fish with the same colors exhibit some different patterning. It really makes the fish feel special and I'm absolutely obsessed with their different behaviors. Betta flare and the goldfish dig! The betta of all shapes and colors and the ranchu goldfish are my favorite. I have probably at least 1 of every color betta and ranchu. I want ranchu goldfish to be my whole life but your game taught my wife they were unethically bred into existence so I might just have to play this game forever instead because I'm sure she will not let me have any lol This is truly a great game for fish people as the realism and effort put into every detail is thoughtfully planned out and realistic, and stunning visually. Building tanks is so much fun. Its also a great game for everyone else. I have found it to feel truly magical and inviting. I think I'm going to go look at my goldfish right now.
I really want to like this game, but theres a few objective game design features I just hate. 1. No currency - Time based points. Its really weird, you get a point every time a day passes, which is like 5 minutes, basically afk money. No gameplay associated with it, literally just idle for a few hours and you can unlock everything. I really dont like that. There should be a currency system in game. Money earnt for completing tasks, buying small fish, raising them, and selling them, etc... anything. 2. No stores, just random RNG fish tanks you take things from. It doesnt make sense and if you're looking for something specific you're sht out of luck. Should be a store with easy beginner plants and fish, as you level up and progress you unlock new ones.
I can no longer recommend this game; everything added just makes things harder to manage and it's like the game is constantly trying to "gotcha" with every choice you make. If gravel hurts the fish, then why have it as an option?! Fish hardly look like their real life counterparts, It also doesn't respect the players time at all, with having to wait for random cycles with each shop to find the thing you are looking for.
I think my biggest issue with the game is how you get items and fish. I don't like how it's not in a store to select from and how you just get random stuff in tanks that you choose from that update every now and again. I also don't like that you can't resize objects, or that when you do go shopping the items are honestly just randomly thrown in tanks with no rhyme or reason to it. I do like how there's no economy or money earning stuff though. That's nice I just didn't find it as fun as I thought it would be because of the shopping system.
Why you should or should not play Fish Game
https://youtu.be/7wpf7mHDXa8?si=EYBC8Sw_MohxRvzI What is Fish Game? Fish Game is the perfect game for people who have always wanted to decorate a fish tank with no maintenance of the real deal. Its basically underwater landscaping and you can add all different types of fish on top of that. Quick Pros ✔ Addictive gameplay loop ✔ Satisfying progression system ✔ Relaxing gameplay ✔ High replayability ✔ Lots of content to explore Quick Cons ✘ Content locked behind paywalls Initial Thoughts: -"I LOVE goldfish, I hope they have some-" -"Oh my god I love customizing games like this- I basically have free range to do what I want with everything. This is great." -"OH MY GOD EVERYTHING IS DYING WHAT DID I DO." Beginner Player Friendly? I would say this game is very beginner player friendly. We love simple controls and a basic menu that helps you understand where you need to go for what you need. It has a tutorial at the start of the game that assists with learning everything you may need to know with this game. Yes, this game is family friendly. Game Play: The game play is basically customizing your own tank, theres not really any quests however you can progress by making more tanks and getting little tokens that allow you to unlock more and more as you progress. This game is you decorating until you unlock everything, and then you decorate some more. Graphics: The graphics are pretty realistic, and as someone who LOVES fish I can say that if you also love fish, you will love these graphics. Even the plants seem to be realistic in the way they grow and the way that fish interact with each other, you can tell they put alot of effort into this game. Community: The community is very supportive and consistently growing, dont be scared to head over to their discord or even post your own fish projects to the steam community. How long can you play? This game can be playing for hours on end without stoping, its honestly addictive and once you start its hard to stop. My Opinion: In my opinion, if you love decorating games that have nearly full range on how you can decorate and what you can put down I would recommend playing this game. Also if you love fish I absolutely recommend this game. Its just all and all a great fish game. Overall Review ★ 9/10 - For fish people everywhere, or people who dont want to have fish irl, this game is one of the best tank designers out there. ✘ Active Online Multiplayer (meaning people will interact with you) ✔ Family Friendly (meaning friendly to all ages) ✔ Solo Playability (meaning you can play by yourself if preferred) ✘ Cross Compatibility (meaning you can play with friends through other consoles.) ✔ In-App Purchases (meaning you can buy things after buying the game i.e DLC's) ✘ Controller Compatible (meaning you can play this game with a controller) Enjoyed this review? This is a really fun game for people who want to be a fish keeper, but some warnings are needed. You get 1 point at the end of each day, each day lasts about 15~20 minutes so it will take hours to get everything in the game, it took me two days to get even half. There are LOTS of shops and fish but it will take forever to find the fish you want. This is a game in progress, there isn't really much gameplay, you just stare at a tank after you finish decorating, then again, this is a realistic game about fish and fish don't do much. Other than that, this game is set to be realistic and it is realistic, the fish illnesses, how the fish moves, how it behaves, the tank health, the water, everything is quite realistic and i enjoyed the game.
The time goes by way to fast. Every couple of minutes turns into hours or days in game time. I wish they had a real world time option. Also, maybe its just me, but my system crashed three times while playing. I had to refund this, unfortunately.
Ooooh where to begin. So, Devs are amazing, Active in Discord, Communicative on direction, Down to earth and ambitious. Gameplay, 100% Hands down the most under discussed fish tank game in history. Now with the Chemistry update out, this game single handedly opens the door to entry level fish keepers to understanding the importance of balancing your environments. Nothing else available really achieves this. Destin from Smarter EveryDay recommended this too me and I'm honestly thankful for him doing so. Message to the devs. Great work, Thank you for everything you do, and may the future for Fish Game be Bright!
I don't know why it's so difficult to explain the game in the tutorial. I get an empty tank and then I have to visit one of five or six stores where I can just find fish and some plants that I apparently have to steal to put in my own tank. The only two plants I found were not placeable on sand and there was no explanation of how to change to earth or anything. The game starts explaining me how to feed my fish when I don't even have a fish yet.
so I played a few hours of this a long time ago and I kind of agree with one of the other reviews here...if its casual fish keeping you want, it's here. Me personally, I want more of a challenge, something to strive for. We definitely need actual shops and not random fish tanks, and some type of currency system for raising/breeding fish and then selling them. Or even selling the tanks and getting money for it. Also there should be some type of level system so the further we get into the game the more rarer/harder fish we unlock. Don't get me wrong I still recommend this game for the creativity aspect but I really would love some type of mode where we work for our fish instead of being idle and earning them. Also let us breed fish into new custom breeds, that would be fun. Other than that, 7/10. Good game for casual play. I haven't played the chemistry update yet but even then i'd love the other features.
