I do not understand why this game is running my GPU at 100% the entire time I play, bringing up my temperatures up to 60c on my GPU. Nothing bad is going to happen at those temps, but jeez. This game is less than a gig. Optimization is terrible.
Very cute game, however it clearly has a long way to go before it's fully playable. I was unable to complete the tutorial because multiple times it would ask me to click on something and what I needed to click on wasn't indicated clearly enough. For instance, it asked me to apply a mutagen to a seed, but didn't highlight or otherwise indicate the seed so I didn't know what I was looking for. Later it asked me to click a button to register a new species, but there was no such button anywhere on the menu so I couldn't complete that objective at all. It seems like a neat concept, and I've had this game saved for a while because I wanted to play it, but now that I have played it I can't help but be disappointed.
This game is absolutely riddled with game breaking bugs. If they were fixed, it would make the game a hell of a lot better than it currently is. In the state it's currently in, avoid buying it like the plague.
The only game game I have found that lets me discover and edit specific genes, as well as evolve. 20/10
Devs need to hire someone to make the tutorials more user friendly. They barely explain anything, and the dialogue of the two "scientist" characters doesn't read like a human wrote it. I don't know if it's because they used AI or English isn't their first language, but it doesn't flow naturally at all. I'm just glad I got it for a dollar.
Kept it hoping it would add more but it never really did.
To the dear game developer: Hello, I really like the content of this game, it's a very good science game of genetic engineering. However, during my actual playthrough, I encountered text dyslexia - I think the in-game text needs to be better translated to facilitate the gaming experience. I'm not posting this comment to point the finger at you guys, but I'm wondering if there are any Chinese translators within the production team that are working on this right now? If not, I think I'd like to help you translate the original text into Chinese to make the game a better experience for as many people as possible (I don't need to be paid for this as I'm just a biology enthusiast). I'd like to get your contact information so I can communicate with you more efficiently about the Chinese translation. I really hope the reviews for this game get better in the future, thanks for making such a fun game. Also, I apologize for rating this game poorly, because from what I've seen, the developers seem to be more inclined to respond to poor reviews of the game rather than all of reviews. I'll change it to a favorable review once the Chinese translation issue is resolved :)
I tried out this game on a whim. I usually play city builder, adventure, and puzzle games, with lots of indie horror sprinkled in... That said I just spent 3 hours playing this game without realizing the time was going by. At first I ignored the tutorial but that was a mistake lol once I got the premise of what I am supposed to do I cannot believe how much fun I am having. Time flew by and now I am upset I have to log and go to bed, but it's 4:30AM and I have to get some sleep! I can't wait to get back into it though! I've been a mad scientist! I grew some plants and cross bred them and had a couple of small critters evolving as well. You can change the DNA and create new species and watch them evolve. Suddenly I was level 12 and started building up my bank selling different plant-life that I had grown before I even realized I could change THAT DNA as well! There's a lot to this and I think I could play all night. Totally going to start from scratch tomorrow though as I missed out on a lot of the gameplay by not finishing the tutorial XD Stay tuned for my screenshots. I will take some tomorrow of my cool shrimps! ^lol^
A lovely little game that can be as deep as you'd like it. The genetic systems are deep but not overly intricate, with the long-term gameplay focusing on a mastermind like discovery/investigation game of identifying which genes make which changes across different species. It's a relaxing, aesthetically pleasing almost-idle experience that gives you the ability to enjoy how you'd like: Get super involved with individual plant and animal placement and breeding, customizing the layout and looks of your aquarium, or sit back and let time run on high to see what evolves. Sank more hours into this than i'd have expected, and look forward to similar games given how many devs it's seemed to inspire. Definitely a under-mentioned gem in the sim genre.
Genetics/life/evolution simulators are my cup of tea. I had to spend some time learning how things work (I don't mind + there's a tutorial) but discovering which gene controls which trait can be very rewarding. I think I'm going to have many hours of play time since after 7 h most of the genome is still a mystery to me and I want to keep researching 🌱
