Крутая игра!
A engaging and compelling narrative driven game, let down by poor pacing and threadbare exploration. The core of Firewatch is an engaging character study excellently performed by Rich Sommer (Henry) and Cissy Jones (Delilah). Their performance is the driving force of the narrative and really helps sell the developing relationship of the two leads. The two only communicate via radio and thus it is up to the player to control how much Henry reports to the disembodied Delilah. It's a testament to the strength of the performance that I looked forward to every snippet of conversation and every piece of witty banter. Unfortunately their performance is let down by gameplay that, in many ways, is substandard. Firewatch belongs to genre that is (often dismissively) referred to as 'walking simulators'. While I personally have no problem with a game taking a more narrative focus, moving away from more challenge and skill based engagement, the strength of such games is often determined by the interweaving of environment and narrative. In this regard I found Firewatch lacklustre. The national park that Henry finds himself is surprisingly lifeless, often serving as little more than padding between narrative encounters. While there are some lite navigational challenges, Firewatch rarely rewards exploration. Straying from the beaten path often only serves to pad playtime. Despite this, Firewatch remains a pretty comfortable recommend. The strength of the core performances are so strong, and the game short enough, that the lack of engaging gameplay or exploration should not be enough to deter anyone looking for a narratively rich experience. (Plus you get to name a turtle 'Turt Reynolds' which is worth half a star on its own)
great game
What a beautiful game, I really took my time and I hope you do too, although there's this hollow ache in my chest now that I'm done it was worth every penny, they could have done more, but that's the point, its beautiful, and would 100% recommend it.
