About
Fire Lookout: Abandoned Post is a first-person narrative-driven mystery game.
As a newly hired fire lookout stationed deep in Summit Ridge National Park, you spend your days exploring the atmospheric landscape and connecting with colleagues. As you settle in, you can't shake the feeling that something is off.
As you begin to act on that feeling, you start to uncover the truth, but at what cost?
This game is primarily a first-person, slow-burning narrative experience with orientation-based exploration through a semi-open world map, and conversation-based progression through alternative decisions. Throughout the story you will be given clues as to what happened. Players are encouraged to explore, pay attention to details, and try to solve the mystery of what really happened in Summit Ridge National Park.
Atmospheric environment with a large, interactable world
Decision-based progression through radio conversations
Open-world exploration and orientation
Character voice acting
Fire Lookout: Abandoned Post is all about telling an immersive and interesting story. Mystery solving, the answer will not always be handed to you, it is up to the player to solve the mystery. If your style of games includes lore-rich, deep narrative experiences with simple mechanical additions, we believe this is the game for you.

This is a terrifying game. Imagine being dropped off in the middle of the woods at night with no map, no compass, and no sense of direction with invisible walls everywhere and no way of knowing where to go and how to get there. Unfortunately, that's false advertising. If the name of the game was "get lost in the woods simulator" then this would be a 10/10.
Playthrough here: https://youtu.be/bEJLwueOnFM Overall I can't recommend the game in it's current state one thing the developer has said he's going to fix is the amount of time it takes to travel, because it takes a lot there's an insane amount of world travelling in the game. The paths were especially hard to see at night and if you go off path YOU'RE DOOMED. There needs to be more visual scares and a bit more backstory given to what is going on the sound effects are solid and the whole game is voice acted which is nice. The ending I won't spoil, but it wasn't for me. It's the devs first game, so if you'd like to support that would be nice, but I can't say it's a good game as is.
Before you buy! I have completed two playthroughs and am currently on my third. If you're not the type of player who enjoys mystery solving story driven games then this game might not be for you. The beauty and the challenge of this game is that it does not solve the mystery for you but instead leaves you with clues. This is why I find it very enjoyable as you're able to replay the game multiple times with different perspectives in search of the next piece of the puzzle. Additionally I do not believe the pacing of the game is that bad. My playthroughs have been roughly 2.5 hours long and the bugs I have experienced have not been game breaking. So if this description piques your interest I would recommend it. However if you're a casual player looking for a straightforward story and some scares I would still recommend it just do not go in expecting a fully resolved ending.
The game wasn't bad. I did have a bug in the beginning where it was just a black screen instead of a cutscene and a similar issue when the character woke up from their first sleep. It corrected after pausing and unpausing. I think overall the story is fine. The biggest complaint you will probably see if the amount of traveling. It makes the pace very slow so it won't be for everyone. I still had a good time and got a few scares.
after 5 minutes the screen goes black but you can still hear the cutscene happening, then you walk in the dark for 15 minutes to the tower , bug out on the radio , go to sleep , wake up, walk to a shed for another 10 minutes to get supplies then it asks you to walk all the way back to the tower, then you ask for a refund
I am an easy-going video-gamer. Like quite literally I detest anything that is too challenging and prefer story-rich games (think "This Bed We Made" or "Firewatch"). I cannot play games like "007 First Light" or "Detroit: Become Human," because action games like those are just too challenging for me. I am always searching for more story-based games, so I thought I'd give this a go. I can say with confidence this is very low-grade, not story-rich at all. It is like a Firewatch fan made, indie based game that is mostly just you walking from place to place, so very boring. Also, when you do interact with other characters, there is not often an option to select certain dialogue so it's always one outcome. Personally, I do not think this game is worth more than $3 and I am disappointed the creators would sell it for more than $5. Though I do not reserve the right to a refund, the right thing to do would be to refund me as I feel the trailer is pure clickbait. I would not purchase this game unless it is offered for under $5 and you have serious time to kill.
I enjoyed the game. Most of the problems I ran into were minor, but the discord was very helpful if I was stuck. I really enjoyed the soundtrack and atmosphere. Also, the devs seems to take feedback very well. I recommend the game!
Its OK I guess, should be a free game not paid tho......more like an indie fun project vs a game you'd actually pay money for.
Its fun but really buggy in some parts and the map is just to big and the paths are hard to follow at night and if you walk off them its very hard to get back onto a path but if they spend some more time on the game it could be really fun
good game, devs are cool they helped me out on the discord with a few issues i had. not a "horror" game if thats what your looking for keep moving on, its a get what you paid for type game, its good but not firewatch good, but i wont hold that to them they were doing there own thing and they did good at that, ending was mid first playthru but im sure by the 2nd or 3rd itll be a lot etter, they did really well fixing stuff and helping ppl. 6/10
