The positives are absolutely right. Another perfect retro arcade title... and we all know that is not easy to achieve. Bitmap Bureau never miss
what an absolute waste of an IP. I've been playing beat em ups since they existed in arcades including every entry in this IP. As a veteran of this genre of games I can say without a doubt this is a failed attempt. Just go to Retro arcade online and play the OGs for FREE!! Also, last boss is a total and absolute joke he wouldn't even let me get up! killed me six times in a row FK this game.
6/10 PD: Aquí añado mi tributo personal a aquellos salones recreativos https://youtu.be/UkUCulb_zNE
Good Game, altogether. Get it cheap if you like Beat 'em Ups. Small Notes, though: Game is short. Beatable in 25 minutes or so. Offset by sometimes ludicrous difficulty, inability to continue once lives run out, trial and error traps (that tend to be instant death) and a final boss so horrendously badly designed and Overpowered that it would make SNK blush (for reference, he spams a projectile that will easily 2 - 3 hit you, cannot be knocked down, can easily combo-knock you down without issue, has 2 phases and a 3 minute time limit and, to top it off, he teleports all the damn time. He can delete several of your lives within 10 seconds, if he so pleases.). Now, if you don't mind that, this game slaps, big time. I didn't, so i recommend it to those who don't, either. And, even if you do, the game has lower difficulties. Why even mention the high difficulty then, you ask? Well, cause the game seems to be hellbent on wanting you to play it on hard. It is the default difficulty and the game tells you to switch to hard if you beat it on lower difficulty. Now, i beat it on easy (the difficulty before hard) and even then, a lot of the game design is trial and error (the traps, like crates falling from cranes or barrels rolling at you suddenly) or, in the final bosses case, just straight up bad. Again, i recommend it. But that is in spite of the BS, not because of it. Seen some people on here write to just "git gud", as virgins do. Just know, however, that "getting good", in this case, means learning instakill-trap placements and how to dodge 'em, figuring out that stupid final boss and playing the game over and over again in its entirety because, again, this game does not have continues. You run outta lives, tough ♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥ your 20 minutes, run it back. There is a "Casual" difficulty and an Option to pick which stage to start from, however.
Let me say this first....THIS GAME NOT HAVING CONTINUES IS NOT BAD GAME DESIGN, PLEASE JUST GET GOOD. I was at first frustrated with how far I was getting in the game and that I could not progress but then I saw the beauty of learning the game so that I can finish it in one go and just practiced. People say that this game has no originality and that's not true. The kit that each character has is strong and the music is pleasant to fight through, Would love a sequel and I'm glad this was my first 1CC technically. Would recommend!
Amazing drum and bass from the 90s 10/10!
I mentioned to a friend that it was my birthday and, being bro and knowing that I've played a lot of Sifu, Fight'n Rage, SoR4 and River City Girls, he sent me this game with a little bow on the top. I must be a cat because I ended up playing longer with the bow than with the game itself after I felt bad for dropping the content after during the 4th or 5th boss fight. See, when you read Vendetta you usually think of a dude in a Guy Fawkes mask who wanders around, expecting people to expect him. I didn't, and went in blind, directly into a bucket so devoid of mechanics that I clipped a tooth hitting the bottom. What I expected was the usual trimmings of a modern brawler: long or long-ish juggles, wall bounces, dodges, rolls and parries even, maybe, but what I got was a basic run-hit-special and don't do that on the girl with boxing gloves. To try coming over its shorts, Finished Valerie throws a couple of environmental hazards at you in the shape of barrels, containers and swinging hooks that try to end you by way of announcing themselves a whole 3 frames in advance, which is fine if I want to speedrun the original Donkey Kong, but nothing new or enjoyable when I'm playing Venal Fantasia. It doesn't mean the game is all bad though, the animation has clearly been rather polished and the art direction is coherent provided your taint is pink-glazed enough. Or your glasses pink-tainted I never remember which. All in all F for Fendetta is an average game you can get on sales, that's easy on the eyes and repetitive on the carpals. Treat it like tuna water: only have it if you're very thirsty.
For a moment there I legit felt like I was thirteen years old and I was playing Final Fight at the mall.
Super fun beat 'em up that evokes the classics but adds some fun wrinkles in its moveset to keep things fresh. One of the better off-brand retro games I've played.
