Final Theory is a 4X-lite turn-based strategy game where you command fleets of battleships engaged in a galactic civil war. It presents an exciting experience for both veteran players and those new to the genre. It features innovative combat mechanics but also hearkens back to some of the classics.

this game is unbeatable, when your ships move to a area that has no planet or station in it,you lose control of the fleet. your fall behind right away and your opponent fleets are vastly superior to your fleet instantly
Starts cool and becomes better and better, until you realize its getting more complex. But not in a good way, more in a slow pacing way, so i tried the quick battle with all 13 ships, and it was a stop sign of tactics and movement, its not tactical or fun anymore so thats how the ENDGAME woudl look like? I love some good tactical strategy hex games. But this isnt one. Its to much microing all the steps while the, lets say, WOW effect of mastering it isnt paying it back. Aswell its a 4X in a very easy way. Nothing you can really do what impacts and 1 fleet movement allready slows you down and takes away all the tactical aspects. Graphical wise, if you dont pay EXTRA all ships yours and enemys look the same. Even the Name of your empire is not importent enough...if the name isnt, the ships arent....and there is no story to be told, why iam playing? for the gameplay mechanics which do become overly complicated? And thats why i have to thumb the game down, cause i would love some space hex game but this isnt a game ill like.
very well made with a wonderful strategy ting to it
Das "lighteste" light 4X Game aller Zeiten! Strategie? Nimm das schwerste Schiff und Level es hoch. Taktik? Bilde eine Reihe, lass sie kommen und schieße sie zusammen. Kolonien und Basen Entwicklung? Wer will das schon?!? Gibt es nicht. Story?
This game is in serious need of QoL update, but seeing as there hasn't been any updates in a long time, I doubt that there will be further support for this game, which is surprising since it's their only game and it doesn't look like they are working on a new project (could be wrong, maybe they do have something in the pipeline). The fact that you can't see the ships stats and compare them to other factions is mind boggling to me, and I'm disappointed that we can't truly make a custom game, the only custom game we can do is a quick fleet vs fleet, it would be nice if we were able to make the win conditions, choose the AI difficulty, etc. It's annoying that the player can't choose how to make a fleet formation when combat is initiated This game is fun, I'm a sucker for TBS games but it's a very simple and shallow game, great deal for when it's on sale
Final Theory is good, it's a 4X Light. No planetary management which is good for a space game. The core game modes will get old over time but the difficulty ramps nicely offering a new experience each time. I have thus far beat the game on Novice (to learn) and Capable. I suspect I will try Expert mode next. I don't like the one fleet per day thing, but the game is balanced other than the fleet types. Which can be a challenge based on playstyle and I the Federal Navy just sucks overall. But other than that, its a solid game. I tried Polaris Sector but it's so strange on the research priorities and the game appears it will take me years of real time to complete (maybe that's a good thing) it is all things this game isn't. This is relatively fast and easy even if the game modes take over a hundred turns to reliably wipe the map.
Game just is not any fun. Very repetitive, no depth, sort of a chore to play.
Unintuitive UI and controls. I've played many games in this genre--and love nearly all of them--but this was a bust. If you are ok spending an extended period of time to learn how to play and control things for a game that seems a bit lackluster from the jump, this may be your thing. Otherwise, avoid.
Unfortunately, no controller support on the Steam Deck. The right touchpad as a PC mouse -- at best.
This is my first 4X game (or 4X-Lite, to be specific) and I love it! Super addictive, a great balance of action and strategy. Nice visuals. Great soundtrack! Definitely recommend.
