Ferrum's Secrets: Where Is Grandpa? is a hidden object adventure that blends mystery, puzzle-solving, and steampunk aesthetics into a surprisingly expansive journey. Developed and published by EJRGames, the game follows a young heroine determined to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of her grandfather, a respected inventor who vanishes under suspicious circumstances. What begins as a personal search gradually develops into a larger investigation involving strange events, missing citizens, and secrets buried deep within the industrial city of Ferrum. The game's greatest strength lies in its atmosphere. Ferrum is portrayed as a fog-covered steampunk metropolis filled with mechanical inventions, laboratories, factories, and intricate machinery. The setting immediately establishes a sense of intrigue, and the developers make good use of the city's visual identity throughout the adventure. Although the graphics show their age and do not compete with larger-budget productions, the artistic direction succeeds in creating a believable world that encourages exploration. Every location feels like part of a larger connected environment rather than a collection of isolated puzzle screens, helping players become invested in the mystery. As expected from the genre, hidden object scenes form a significant part of the gameplay, but Ferrum's Secrets does more than simply ask players to locate items on cluttered screens. Exploration plays a major role as players gather useful objects, solve inventory-based challenges, unlock new areas, and interact with various mechanical devices. The adventure spans dozens of locations and introduces a large number of collectible items that must be used creatively to progress. This combination of hidden object gameplay and traditional point-and-click adventure mechanics helps maintain engagement throughout the story. The puzzle design offers a welcome variety of challenges. In addition to hidden object sequences, players encounter numerous mini-games involving logic, observation, and machinery. Most of these puzzles are approachable enough for casual audiences while still providing moments that require careful thought. The steampunk theme is often reflected in the puzzle mechanics, which strengthens the connection between gameplay and world-building. While some challenges are relatively simple, the variety prevents the experience from becoming repetitive. Storytelling is another area where the game performs reasonably well. The search for the protagonist's grandfather serves as a compelling starting point, but the narrative expands to reveal conspiracies and mysteries affecting the entire city. Players uncover clues through exploration, notes, and environmental details, gradually piecing together the truth behind the disappearances. The story is not particularly groundbreaking, yet it remains entertaining thanks to its steady pacing and consistent sense of mystery. The inclusion of the protagonist's kitten companion adds a small touch of warmth and personality to an otherwise suspenseful adventure. One of the more impressive aspects of the game is the sheer amount of content packed into its modest production. Players travel through a diverse collection of environments, including laboratories, workshops, archives, underground passages, and other atmospheric locations. This constant change of scenery helps the adventure maintain momentum and gives the impression of a larger world waiting to be uncovered. Multiple difficulty settings further enhance accessibility, allowing newcomers and experienced hidden object fans to tailor the challenge to their preferences. The game is not without flaws. Character animations can feel stiff, and some elements of the presentation lack the refinement seen in higher-profile hidden object titles. Certain sections involve a fair amount of backtracking, and a few puzzles may feel overly straightforward. However, these shortcomings rarely overshadow the strengths of the experience. The game's ambition, world-building, and variety of activities help compensate for its technical limitations. Ferrum's Secrets: Where Is Grandpa? succeeds as a charming mystery adventure that offers more depth than many hidden object games. Its blend of exploration, puzzle-solving, and steampunk storytelling creates an enjoyable experience for players who appreciate casual adventures with a strong sense of atmosphere. While it may not revolutionize the genre, it delivers a satisfying journey filled with secrets to uncover and mysteries to solve. Fans of hidden object adventures and narrative-driven puzzle games will likely find it a worthwhile addition to their collection. Rating: 6/10

This game emphasizes the adventure, story and puzzles with some HOPS sprinkled in. You talk to characters, find objects and have an inventory. You have a journal and can find collectibles. The hint system is very helpful. The translation needs a lot of work, but is not too hard to figure out. The art work reminds me of 80-90's. Navigation is smooth. Click on everything to find objects or puzzles. The puzzles relate to the story or task. Different difficulty levels. You move around a lot and won't feel claustrophobic.
Bad dialog. The controls are clunky. Game is unplayable for me because it keeps freezing my whole system. Finally had to hard shutdown after one freeze because nothing on my pc would react. The only thing I enjoyed was the kittens.
