About
When the phone rings in the Feline Forensics department, that can only mean one thing... it's time to get your toe beans dirty. In this soft-boiled detective puzzler, assume the role of a crime-crushing noir tabby who's all out of catnip, and utilize your wisest whisker to uncover the truth of this meowseum mystery.
Famously known as the museum's most valuable exhibit, the gemstone's true worth is beyond kitten comprehension.... and now its missing! Rely on deductive reasoning skills to prove that there's no such thing as a purrfect crime.
Mismatched alibis and mistrusting motivations provide little explanation as to how this intricate heist devolved into a grizzly murder. No one is above a carnivorous suspicion, so converse with, and cross-examine them all.
A failed investigation could mean that terrible criminals walk free, and a once-thriving museum will finally bite the dust. The uniquely hand-drawn style of its many displays would be forced to auction.
This is both a feature, and a warning... actually, no pun is off-limits. Its honestly an excessive use of groan-worthy humor. Chuckle (or cringe) while enjoying the smooth jazz soundtrack composed of saxophones, plunger trumpets, and speakeasy pianos.
Assemble a conspiracy board to track all your leads (without red string, it would be too distracting)
Examine an array of crucial evidence (and swat off the table, probably)
Keep a binder to track every witness testimony (and make those suspects squeal)
Fill-in-the-blanks of your investigator's journal to crack the case (and dispense feline justice!)
Adjust text speed, turn on puzzle assistance, or use dyslexic-friendly fonts as needed
Silly interpretations of famous artwork (parody law please protect us)
And, of course, play as a cat detective (wearing a full suit and tie)

100% the game you can figure out most of the suspects at the first chapter and the game has 5 (u miss 1 cuz its for accusing)(its 6 chapters) I found the most annoying part and time consuming part to be just writing what u learned in your journal as you just describe what already happened but its set words that you need to figure out, annoying! (most of it came out that I already knew who it was(mostly)) its still a fun game and there's a autofill option but I also know I wouldn't of enjoyed it as much if I didn't do the journal and the mystery was decent, looking for more ! maybe a zoo theft?? wonder whats in the zoo with all the animals about! the game also has a unique artstyle with nearly everything as black and white except 1 part of the character or art
While I did enjoy the mystery in the game, I found the word puzzles painful and resorted to guides just to keep the story moving.
Delightful cozy game with a lot of love and attention put into the small details - the artwork descriptions are somehow, almost *all* funny, and there's like 70 of them. The fill-in-the-blanks style was a little rocky for me, some of the semantics made me go UGH I GUESS and I would have been fully out of luck without the little pictures, but I got there eventually (with a little help). Overall, delightful, would play a frankly obscene number of games with my boy :3 Wish I could have arrested the actual villain but unfortunately life isn't fair :(
An adorable and fun game, where you are the cat-detective, on the case of a museum heist gone wrong. The controls are simple, and the game feels akin to games like "The Roottrees are Dead" or "The Case of the Golden Idol," as you interact with the environment to find clues in the form of keywords, which you use to fill out your notebook, and solve your case. While the experience was short, I thought it did a good job of getting in-and-out. The map layout is relatively simple, while being big enough to have lots of places to investigate, and I found the gameplay itself, moving from room to room, to be rather intuitive. The artwork, while mostly stylized in a black and white that recalls a "Noir" influence, features pops of color that stand out as silly and visually pleasing additions, to keep the game from feeling monotonous. All in all, a great game that I was glad to pick up and play! Definitely worth the time for amateur sleuths!
This game has soul, a charming art style, and a compelling mystery. The characters are very easy to love. I'd be really excited to see more in the future from this developer. Overall, I recommend this game. I would like to point out an annoyance I had with this game, though. I was really excited to see another mystery game with a "fill-in-the-blanks" style system, similar to the Golden Idol, which is one of my favorites of all time. However, the execution could use a lot more polish. There are quite a few words with too similar meanings, and not enough information given in the sentences to know which word exactly that the game wants you to use. It leads to a lot of trial and error, and still feeling like you're no closer to the answer. There were a few times I was very disappointed to find that I was basically saying the exact same thing as what was expected but in different wording.
Like asking that I specify the statue was on the nat. history balcony (not the nat. history exhibit), but not accepting balcony for where the painting is, only accepting courtyard. Or accepting "painting stashed in the air duct," but not "counterfeit painting in the air duct."
This was very annoying, it felt like I was wasting my time, and made it a lot less fun. I don't necessarily have a problem with the wording being so specific, but there needs to be more context to help the player understand what exact word or what type of word is expected. The Idol helps with this by color-coding different types of words. They could easily add symbols to correspond to each type of word so that you know if it's expecting a Person, Location, Action or Object word. That type of polish added would have made this game a 100% to me, but there were times that I was getting so frustrated that I felt if the story wasn't so interesting I wouldn't have kept playing.
This game reminded me a lot of the Duck Detective games, but unfortunately missing the charming voice acting from those games. There were a couple of puzzles that we solved before the game "considered them solved", so we had to progress until the arbitrary triggers were fired and we were allowed to solve the puzzles, which felt too game-y and frustrating. Additionally, one of the fill in the blank sections towards the end felt needlessly annoying: We already had every needed word and knew were they went, we just needed to arbitrary sort them, which led to some frustration. Regardless, there are lots of good points: The humor landed for me, the overarching mystery keeps you on your toes, and the music was surprisingly great. If you enjoy unraveling a mystery, and particularly if you enjoy the Duck Detective games, then I recommend this. I enjoyed playing through this game, and it ran great on Linux!
Great detective game, pretty cool mechanics and characters.
This game is incredibly well-written, offering some wildly witty dialogue and intriguing relationships to explore from character to character. This game is also very well produced, boasting multiple different arts for each character (overworld and dialogue), excellent music that sets the ambience perfectly, and probably some of the most fun art puns you've heard in a WHILE! If you're a fan of games like the Loathing series (West of, Shadows over, etc) you'll ADORE Feline Forensics and the Meowseum Mystery! Can't wait for the next entries in the series <3
Very fun world and game. Thoroughly enjoyed!
duck detective if it was actually good in all seriousness, it has a few rough edges here and there (walk speed's a little slow, pretty significant amount of backtracking, not having categories for the longer fill-in-the-blank segments makes some of them more frustrating than they should be) but I was very charmed overall. a genuine love for the arts and noir-style mysteries and figuring out what would drive someone to get into crime shines through, and I had a great time seeing the mystery through
