About
FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative first-person shooter set within a mysterious federal agency under assault by otherworldly forces. As a years-long siege on the agency’s headquarters reaches a breakpoint, only Firebreak— the Bureau’s most versatile unit—has the gear and the guts to plunge into the building’s strangest crises, restore order, contain the chaos, and fight to reclaim control.

Dive into the Federal Bureau of Control’s (FBC) unpredictable and extradimensional headquarters during its darkest—and strangest—hours. As one of the FBC’s fearless first responders, you and your team are on call to confront everything from reality-warping anomalies to otherworldly monsters... no matter the odds. Will you contain the chaos or finally lose control?

Join forces with friends or strangers to tackle each crisis as a well-oiled crew. Survival in this three-player cooperative FPS hinges on quick thinking and seamless teamwork as you scramble to tame raging paranatural crises across a variety of unexpected locations. Improve your odds by utilizing the tools and skills that make you unique or improvising with whatever’s on hand to support your crew.

Before deploying, select your weapon and customize your Firebreaker’s Crisis Kit with specialized tools, grenades, support items, and paranatural augments... then modify them to suit your strategy and change the way you play. Experiment with different loadouts to perfect your playstyle and synergize with your team, giving you the edge to succeed in every crisis, no matter the difficulty.

Return to the strange and unexpected world of Control or venture in for the first time in this standalone, multiplayer experience. Discover the iconic and unfathomable headquarters of the FBC — the Oldest House — from an entirely new perspective as a team of volunteer first responders who'll stop at nothing to save what's left of the Bureau.

Online co-op PvE in The Oldest House may not have been on most bingo cards but despite a rough launch and brief post-launch support Remedy Entertainment has left the game in a surprisingly good state thanks to the price reduction to $20 and addition of the Friend's Pass. What you've got here are three classes to pick, 6 unique levels to play, and hordes of hiss to shoot. Any player can perform any of the game's required fix actions but each class has their own specialties that can make you considerably better at one of these. In a nutshell, Fix Kit lets you quickly repair damaged devices by smacking them with your wrench (engineer TF2 style), Jump Kit lets you... Jump... and jumpstart unpowered devices, and the Splash Kit puts out fires as well as healing yourself and fellow Firebreakers. In addition to unique equipment slots each class also gets their own parautility giving you a wacky yet powerful prolonged attack similar to an ultimate ability... beware the gnome! Each level consists of a different area and objective type that feel different enough to set them apart from one another but familiar to the point that hopping between them has a fairly low learner's curve. Sometimes you'll also see one available with an optional corruption modifier which provides a typically negative effect which can be removed. Launching a rocket despite technically being inside an enclosed facility, destroying hostile Sticky Notes, and calming down an angry sentient furnace creates a fun blend of intrigue and fun. My recommendation is to play through a few levels on solo to learn the basics and then give co-op a shot. Aside from the 6 levels there's also Endless Shift which is a largely simple yet straightforward roguelite endless mode of purely gunning down Hiss. Fairly fun but was unfortunately prone to a lot of game crashes on my device. As for difficulty it's mostly aimed towards hordes density and frequency with the game becoming easier with more players and even harder with less. You'll find a range of the cakewalk that is Easy mode to the relentless wow-I-need-a-second-to-breathe experience that is Extreme (at least initially). The enemies are largely unique in terms of visual design but from a gameplay perspective are mostly familiar and simple to understand + shoot. You'll get a limited number of revives depending on your difficulty selection but due to the incredibly long revive timer and ability to automatically gain additional revives makes failing levels practically impossible if you're not playing solo. When it comes to online quickplay the playerbase is easily carried by the game's crossplay support, with all of the Xbox Game Pass and Playstation Plus Extra subscribers you're able to connect with other folks near-instantly although there is something a bit fishy to mention. At the end of most lobbies most people choose to leave and others even choose to kick you seemingly for no reason or fault of your own. From my best guess due to the game's "Start Job Solo" option enabling your lobby as public by default many users expect to be playing privately in singleplayer but get "blindsided" when seeing a person join their lobby. Due to that, it's ultimately best to host games yourself if you're interested in playing with two other players. This was my first time buying a game on Steam with pre-established mixed review scores and I'm happy to say that it was still totally worth the purchase. Watching a few videos covering the game, I was surprised to find that most criticisms were thankfully addressed after a few months-worth of patches. With a proper tutorial via gameplay + videos, better progression, ability to heal from all water sources, voice chat support, and more, Firebreak has undoubtedly improved as a result. I wouldn't necessarily give Firebreak a strong recommendation (considering it's contemporaries in this genre boasting considerably more depth and content) but there's certainly some good fun to be had here, especially within the backdrop of Control (2019)'s universe.

PLEEESSS MORE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MORE
I have this on PS5 - I purchased a second copy on PC (Don't game PC anymore that much except the rare occasion of traveling). So just a full support buy. Love the game, love the universe and the tie ins to the other games. In a world overdone with live service games - this one deserves it and I hate to see it didn't pop off. Any ways - Full Support, I love this game on my PS5. I hope there is new content in the future and I wish them the best in expanding this universe.
Great world building and solid mechanics that doesn't just throw you into the deep-end making your struggle to solve puzzles the reason why gametime is so long. Is there a lot of content or super in-depth progression? Not too much. Is it a fun game to play with friends and bring a fun perspective of life in the FBC? Absolutely yes!
I think this game is great where it is, but that is also coming from a die-hard fan of Control. If you haven't played or are not a fan of Control or Alan Wake, it may not strike your fancy. That doesn't mean that you have to play the other games to enjoy it, it may just mean that a lot of stuff may go over your head as you play.
go play L4D2 or helldivers, or Darktide, or just do your taxes.
friend pass makes this game an automatic 10/10 - fun but the lack of weapon variety and static skills makes the experience a little bit less enjoyable. There are also very few mission types which makes the game somewhat repetitive. Very fun with friends but probably nab it on sale if you can
