I backed this game on Kickstarter. One of my rewards was to design a character for it. Keep this is mind as I explain. The game is good. The developer is not. He acts friendly, but he censors comments, ignores people he wrongs, and his actions contradict his claims. His community is toxic. They have persecution complexes about any criticism for this game, despite the dev claiming he welcomes critique. You can praise it all you want, but the second you think a bit could be improved, they'll accuse you of tearing the dev's creation down or only ever complaining about the game. It's a case of the most active members being those self-entitled judgmental types who can't stand anyone who doesn't behave the way they insist others have to around them. The problem is that the dev doesn't do anything to discourage this. He enables it. He's been made aware of this bullying culture, but refuses to do anything about it. He hired two mods, but didn't give them rules to enforce or any direction on what to do, nor did he hire them on credentials, just nepotism, then set and it forget it. The mods proceeded to engage in misconduct and authority abuse while the dev acted tone-deaf by talking about updates to his new game and answering any questions EXCEPT about the bullying enabling going on. I told the dev that he could fix all this. I told the dev about all the problems. I told the dev how all this made me feel. I asked the dev why he was ignoring it all. He ignored me. He deleted my comments. He told me to "move on" when his fans attacked me. He seems to believe communication can ONLY be a one-way street: You do what he says or accept what he does, and you don't ask questions or try to work things out. It's extremely unhealthy conflict avoidance and poor communication, and the dev seems to believe that it's the only way he can do things, and hurting others is 100% okay. I regret sinking so much of my passion, time, money, and creativity into a developer who doesn't care at all about his supporters and refuses to simply communicate or resolve issues amicably. EDIT: Years later, the dev made his newest game using machine-learning-algorithm-procedurally-generated art theft programs to make the code, writing, and many of the character portraits for Dungeon Dreams 2. He continues to refuse communication and sees nothing wrong with using computer programs to steal from other writers, coders, and artists while lying on his Kickstarters. The community also continues to become more and more abusive towards anyone with legitimate concerns, to the point they and the dev will chase away even long-standing members over the most minor of critique or concerns and engage in attacks on the people with the concerns just so they can avoid addressing them.

You play as Faylinn, and she's on a quest. That's just good advertising. This game has crazy attention to detail to choices you make, in combat and out, with a wealth of both combat and field skills to make things interesting. Character art and writing is top notch especially. And hey, I spent over 200 to back this game, and I think it was worth every penny.
Honestly, I don't like giving bad reviews but the game just isn't worth the money in my opinion. The scenes are just texts and one pic. The game play very grinding and kinda hard if you play the normal way. Very unforgiving you lose battles or aren't quick enough for traps you can lose items. The story line isn't half bad but that doesn't keep me intrigued enough to keep grinding.
I have to say that I regret getting this game. I played (grinded) it a lot to finish it, let me say that the gameplay is really nice, some characters are amazing. But, the story forces you to play or watch scenes of every character, no matter if you like them or not. Every time I read... Meanwhile, I already was rolling my eyes, since the author believed that watching random or all characters sex scenes was something everyone would love. I for one would really like to only see scenes or play with my protagonist. If I wanted to see some random character scene I'd go after them, and most of them you can't even have scenes, just watch them with others for whatever reason. In general is a game I finished once, and will never do it again, like I said, it was fine, but the amount, and it's not small of them of scenes I'm forced to watch made me even uncomfortable tbh. So, yeah, I can't say I recommend this unless you're into this kind of fetish.
I played "Faylinn's Quest" with the NSFW patch, and for the most part, I liked the game. I would’ve preferred not having unavoidable heterosexual scenes plop up, but I had fun, found the story somewhat interesting, and the fights enjoyable, if repetitive. There's a lot of grinding. (7/10)
Note: Be aware this game is still in Early Access, so some of this review may be invalidated by later changes. Story/Plot: Faylinn's Quest is about a half-demon woman named Faylinn (it would be odd if it was someone else ;) ) who is burdened by a traumatic past. Eventually must confront her past, while trying to figure out what the future holds for her. For a small indie game, there is actually lot of going on here such as branching story lines, multiple romance options, decisions that actually count. Visuals: The graphics of the game remind me of a late era NES/early SNES whether it is the combat screens, or the anime art for the characters. I admit I would have liked more CGs, but overall what is here is good. My biggest complaint is that I am not a fan of the artist used, but that is a minor quibble. Gameplay: This plays like an early JRPG of the NES era. Combat his handled by a screen where you can choose to attack, use a special skill/magic, use an item, or defend. Outside of combat you can explore towns, and what not. However, this is where I think is the game's biggest weakness. The first is you will have to engage in a lot of random encounters, etc. to earn experience and raise stats or job points. This can take a very long time unless you cheat or use a save editor. The other thing is that sometimes you have to use a keyboard, or else a mouse to access things; however this isn't done o a consistent basis. Finally, sometimes what you may need to do is really explained, though it is easy enough to muddle through to find out what you need to do. Sound/Music: The music is fine for a game like this, though I did end up turning it down to listen to other stuff in the background. The sound effects are likewise serviceable for a game like this. The game does have voices, but they only seem to show up during some intimate/sex scenes. I would prefer to either go full voice (but that's expensive, and probably not feasible) or don't use voices at all. Difficulty: The difficulty isn't to bad, but you will be engaged in a lot of grinding for experience and job points. The other thing that may make this a tough game to beat is sometimes you don't know what your next stop might be. Extras/Achievements: The game has no Steam trophies at the time of this review, though it does boast of some trophies within the game itself. Recommendation: Could I recommend the game? My answer would be yes. For what it offers, I felt the price was more than fair (though this can be legitimately argued). The other reason is that the dev was quite good about fixing bugs when it was revealed to them so this raised my good will. However, it is still in Early Access, so that could put some people off and is perfectly understandable.
pretty solid indie game. been playing it a few hours and while it did get slow down for a minute, once i finish grinding for a bit i can get back to progessing. which is pretty normal for rpgs anyways. still, it feels like there's very little to any character early on aside from the initial interaction. it's just grinding away until i can complete the sidequest they gave me and until i finish it there's no reason to talk to them anymore. although i do still like every character so far. only 3 hours in though. story is shaping up to be interesting and im excited to see where it goes.
If you never played "Dungeon Dreams" You might be lost a bit. There is heavy reference to that game. Even in Early Access this very addictive. Aside from the many many bugs, it is hard to walk away from at times. If you like to sink yourself into games, this can be hard because every now and then one of them breaks the fourth wall. I got a laugh when roaming , I found a chest and someone said whats an unopened chest doing out here? I forget the answer word for word, but it was like "What do you expect from an RPG?" It adds to the game but does seem funny how they all break the fourth wall from time to time but at the same time, aren't all in on the joke. I got a lot of laughs out of this, I am sure you will get many also. My major issue with their games is, they don't make them controller compatible. Not a big issue but their games feel like they would be better if they did or at least this and DD. I got this when it was on sale , thought hell with it I liked Dungeon Dreams. For the price tag its worth it. Edited part. I'm editing this after having played it a few times in different ways. I had run into a game breaking glitch and had contact with the game creator, I give credit to the creators for their efforts in fixing the issue, also they were very fast about solving the issue. They fixed fixed/edited the file, so my problem was solved. I assume they will put out a patch for that problem in no time.
The game felt worth the price to me. There's still some updates that are needed to feel complete but it's good enough for what it is.
the story is very good and the game is entertaining the system is not too complex too i like it a lot
