About
With the power of a god, who will you become?
In Fata Deum you build settlements and compete with other gods for influence. The more followers you have, the more power you wield.
You can lift mortals into the air, toss them around for fun, or guide them with care and help them thrive. Whether you're a warm-hearted deity, a cold-hearted tyrant, or something in between, your playstyle shapes the world. The environment reacts to your actions, becoming bright and beautiful or dark and corrupted.
Mortals will respond to your presence. They’ll pray, plead, and ask for help—or punishment. Grant their wishes, smite them for disobedience, or... just kick them in the butt. Your actions shape not only the world, but your followers' very behaviour.
That’s all too nice? Sacrifice them to summon a mortal or kill them and use their corpses to resurrect some zombies! Steal their energy to get more mana or sacrifice the weak to boost one of your strong warriors. You have many options!
During the day, use your influence on the mortals. Will you bless and inspire them onto good work, or strike fear into their hearts with terrifying visions? But be wary, the townsfolk have their own free will.
At night, you can manipulate settlements. Instruct the mortals to build you mighty temples for worship, farms and lumber mills so that they may prosper, or even to ruin other villages.
Perhaps you’d like to be a tyrant, ruling over a kingdom of debauchery and blood. Raise an army and sacrifice your mortals to summon terrifying demons. Your choice.
Or maybe you do believe in fun, festivities and spreading the love, but have no qualms weakening your enemies by spreading fear - or just hitting them with a Thunderstrike.
As your influence grows, the living world will shape around it, getting ever more vast. Each god manifests their kingdom differently.
Will yours be a kingdom of crops and light, or twisted trees and glowering darkness? You’ll battle gods of Violence, Deceit, Fertility and Pleasure.
Master different challenges set by the goddesses of fate themselves and write your own story as a young deity who grows up to fame and honor.

Before I start, I played on the current BETA branch for April 2026 Frankly in a far better state than when I had left it back when it came out in 2025. You have sprawling cities, more interactions with nature and those interactions being diversified. Your pawns (though somewhat lacking in animation) react to you with fear and/or awe based on how you treat the world. Adversaries are unique in their tactics. I haven't felt "forced" to play in a certain meta way to achieve victory. There are a lot of budding systems here which are being refined, but you can enjoy the game for what it is in its current state. The Discord is active, so it may be worth chatting up the dev there for some of you with concerns. ___ Explaining what I mean by refined, - Prayers are currently in a confusing spot in the game right now. - Cities have production chains, but it's not clear what these chains do to the player. You also can't automate/loop resource desires between settlements, hauling them via fist is currently the most immediate and effective thing. Neither is upgrading your settlement into a city a possibility, but seeing just how huge cities can get I see why. - Currently outposts don't have a lot of customization, other than them reflecting how you align in a binary system through building style. If I'm not wrong, City models are not updated yet to reflect this. - Things like demons or zombies do not feel like they function any different than villagers, but they are neat to look at. There isn't a "good-side" equivalent to demons. No righteous angels to defend your territories, no beautiful walls to build against the chaos. - Prophets aren't consistent in your desired behavior you picked for them, though they are very new at the current juncture. - There is a slight glitch with meteors not disappearing, could be because I am on Linux though. My biggest gripe is maybe how combat is handled. Currently you just have a "looting" action, a power struggle between that settlement's army and yours happens. It's not really the destructive force of sending your army that you'd hope it'd be, neither does it seem that your army really ever reaches the size as seen in the promotional video. I would personally hope setting my settlement's profile to aggressive would at least cause it to send out a roaming army once in a while, eager to prove their glory and the like. ___ Don't be dissuaded by my hangups though, the game has been a genuinely fun to explore!
Ok so lets start with: I have never played black and white so I don't give the slightest ♥♥♥♥ about it and what it does or was, What I do care about, is what this game does, which is essentially what its says on the tin, this is to me, the start of a very good god game sandbox with a lot of things going on inside it and a lot of stuff and "mortals" to fiddle and screw around with, now I skipped the tutorial so I wont say anything about that, but I will say it does take some time to play and mess with things to start understanding what's going on but to be honest I actually had fun doing this and didn't even notice the time going by XD, in 4 hours I have empowered the town and its people that I have taken a liking to, guiding them, taking over another small town and erecting the beginning of a large settlement in the mountains and of course bombed and burned the other town that tried looting my town and, well lets be honest, I just didn't fgn like them XD, but that's kinda the point here, you do what gods do, play with the mortals, but there is a lot of stuff going on here, they can build by themselves or you can suggest they build something specific, over time as you gain followers either willingly or by force, you gain powers, powers on which you decide what you want to focus on, want to be evil, then focus on the evil powers etc, the point here is, I don't even know how to describe this game XD, other than interesting and fun, tho it is early access, there is a lot meat to enjoy here and I do encourage people to give this a try, tho you most definitely want a long session where you can sit and just play with it, I also believe two hours is enough for you to know whether or not you like this game. TLDR: good god sandbox game, give it a try.
My first 30 min impression: pros: Genre Developers enthusiasm cons: Game UI Tutorials Controls I won't return the game nor giving negative review just to support devs for being working on a god game. But the game in this state is not playable for me.
It's not perfect, not exactly BnW(2) but I'm still having fun, which is what matters. I look forward to more updates and wish the developers the best.
Horrific controls. How the hell do i let go of something once i grab it? Why is hold left to open menu the same as grab object?? Why is there no short key to let go of object.
It's still in development, but how can I not recommend a god game? The developers are doing a great job trying to revive the genre. It's good fun.
The tutorials always lock up and wont let you finish them. I love it when a game says do this and this then wont actually let you.
So far it is living up to the genre and giving a feel that the classics had without being the classics. Has taken me a while to finally purchase this one but Mr. Peter is having a rough time with MoA and it is in its early stages so until that is developed and this one stays further in development, it will be Fata Deum to be played. The game is scratching most itches i've had for a god game and powers seem interesting. The implementation of the first person possession has been done well and a welcomed feature in the genre. The cake topper here would be a creature to raise and make into your diabolical demi god. Dont quite understand the hate this game has gotten, of course it isnt B&W but it is a great entry into the genre! I am in a free run vs 1 god but i've gotten to a point where i think i have too many people and it is causing performance issues.
