This is definitely a must-try for people who love turn-based games like Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Everything about this game is amazing from the music to the graphics and storyline. Quite challenging especially in the final boss stage but other than the game in general is not tooooo hard. Just gotta strategise a little XD Quick tip, always complete tasks after every stage it really helps. Good luck and have fun yall !! Hope you had as much fun as I did with this game :3
A Final Fantasy Tactics style of turn based strategy game, minus the role playing part. I find there's a certain level of charm from games with this kind of graphics and gameplay NO LONGER FOUND in "modern" games of today's era. You from the 80s and 90s? BUY THIS GAME! I ask that for the sequel (I'll happily buy it) that the devs include a basic character creation mode where you can make your own character to insert themselves into the story at least as a participant rather than the protagonist a la White Knight Chronicles (PS3 game, look it up). 9 out 10.
Rrrrrargh come on dude, why isn't there an after credits epilogue? I NEEDED to see the gang
talk ♥♥♥♥ about Crim before going on their next adventure to bring her back to life and go back in time to create a timeline where humanity didn't get wrecked
or whatever, but you didn't! I would've been able to wrap up this game with full satisfaction, instead I'm stuck with this halfway ending that left me seething with impatience! You're killing me man! Game is absolutely amazing, and I can't really remember a moment that left me annoyed. I like it that you have an "early game" build that you can run comfortably for about half the game, then a "late game" build where you finalize your build for the gripping finale. Even better, I find that some units don't really need that respec (Claster loves spreading out its stats and Doc just screams "MORE AGILITY! MORE!" like a bloody addict) so it's mostly optional, not mandatory. I kinda dislike level scaling because it means that the only time you ever wanna use the task "Spar" is during early game and when you're about to hit the next Trait point. Also I'm a semi-casual who'd choose to have an easier time dominating my enemies over "fair" battles every single time. But that's a personal opinion and not something I'd judge the game with. The background music is ABSOLUTELY my kind of music. Chill as ♥♥♥♥ most of the time and epic when it needs to be. Don't even need to turn it off the whole time like how I play most of my games. Difficulty is in the perfect sweet spot for me. Just difficult enough to make me dread every coming battle like Graff, but not so much that I say "♥♥♥♥ it easy mode let's go". Also for once the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ background maps aren't doom and gloom all the time. For example, I just cannot muster the energy to play Darkest Dungeon because it's entire godang setting and art is so depressing, yano? About the Ring Drives, I feel like it could use a fifth slot to be honest. Ethereal Edge is a must have for EVERY CHARACTER (except some purely defensive wolves like Shield Bearer I guess) because no one like to miss an attack in a turn-based game, ever. Ring Drives that add attack range is a must-have for melees, and movement range for supports. That's half of your slots gone just like that, and that's before you build for the specific character. I tried making a Muscle Memory Crim but realized that there's no point since most of the DPSers get Ethereal Edge later on, and Muscle Memory is a Rare grade Ring Drive. Build flexibility isn't limited by stats or skills, but by Ring Drive slots here. By the way, what decides if you get Grand Guard or Berserker's Embrace? Didn't feel like replaying the particular stage and rolling the dice if it's RNG. Speaking of which, can we have a bonus stage where all you do is farm Ring Drives or better, just unlock all Ring Drives under crafting? Also, I can barely differentiate the blue and purple border for Rare and Epic. Maybe change the color for Epic to red since there's no Legendary grade equipment in the game? Story is great, but seriously man, can we have an after credits epilogue? That's all I ask man. Having to manage Focus characters is pretty interesting. For some reason enemy Focus units seem way tankier than mine though, I would be interested to know exactly why that's the case. I especially don't want to think about a certain end game boss that I swear has to be one of the most annoying piece of ♥♥♥♥ I ever took down. It singlehandedly made Momentum not just a Ring Drive that's worth picking up, but absolutely core for DPS characters. Like are you kidding me? You don't normally pick something that takes 20 turns to reach its full potential. It's great game balancing, mind you, but I don't think anyone sane would enjoy fighting that particular Focus boss ever. Speaking of, the unlock progression of Ring Drives could stand to be improved. I keep thinking I'm going to unlock Legendary grade Ring Drives midway in but it never happened, so it got really boring in terms of crafting midway in. Oh, one last thing. You clearly had plans to let the white royal wolf I can't remember the name play a major role in the beginning, but she just never showed up again. I was really disappointed to be honest. Could really, really, REALLY have used her Primal Roar for that final battle. Anyway, I absolutely enjoyed my time with this game and cannot wait to see a sequel if one is planned. Good job!
Going to give this a 'no' for now. The game has a lot of potential to be a fun and engaging story but there is a very awkward difficulty jump early on and, at least at that point, there is no way to grind previous battles or fight any kind of random battles to level up your dudes when you're feeling stuck. The 'tasks' don't provide nearly enough of a pittance considering how long each battle takes whether you win or lose and you don't keep any of the experience you gained during battles lost. Fleshed out more with a way to grind levels and this would be a definite yes from me. Edit: As promised, Dev fixed the things I said would get a Yes from me.
I'm recommending this game, but only barely. It's completely linear with minimal different kinds of enemies and you can't replay maps. Mostly though because the second half of the game is insanely hard. I had to save scum almost every single mission from
"The Ambassador"
forward. If you like tactics games and just want a new one to play, forget about achievements and lower the difficulty.
Finished game, unlocked re-visit fights. It is an enjoyable s/trpg. Comments: 1-needs an option to remove wolf teamates 2-wtf is the rando wolf doing in final cutscene??? 3-after the warning to avoid exploring the city, HOPE there is post game in city content/exploration. HYPE ;) 4-Ambassador AT gain on attack seems a little too op, maybe lower so that it can be countered, even with amplify debuff his AT shoots up to full when attacking with anti-AT hits 5-I'd like to be able to choose which perks/passives the wolves have so you don't have to try and find a lucky combination of skills on a wolf to recruit 6-Since my characters and skills were fully skilled and leveled and geared just before end game content, it would be nice to have more new content that puts your team to the test. The final fight was a good set up but also a bummer to have scaled that challenge with nothing left after. Increasing stats for already completed fights is a bit of a buz kill but just my opinion. I totally enjoyed to game and it's def worth a play for genre fans! Overall I enjoyed the game and
Allright, solid 7/10 from me. Which is pretty good, my favorite movie isnt even 10/10. The game is fire emblem-esq, you have a set amount of named characters you move on a grid and have to kill all the baddies. challenge was a good level, characters was fun and plot kept me engaged. Also very importantly it did not overstay its welcome. My play time as of review is how long it took me to win, and by the end it was still enjoyable. Qualifications, I love this genre, I played most fire emblems, FFTA, trial by fire, Symphone of war, ect... More indepth below. First, the gameplay. Typical SRPG with grids, melee and ranged. Characters are archetyped but can still be specialized. The punch lady is always a bruiser, but I can choose to make her more tank or more dmg. Skills are set on a character by character basis, but you choose how to level them. The fun thing with these are ranks 1-3 does 'stronger' and rank 4 does a bonus effect which was exciting to look forward to earning. Stats are gained on levelup, some via the character automatically and some are distributed by the player. Again you can pick health / dmg / speed to fill the role you want. To be honest, I enjoyed it. I was getting burned out with all the 'Super customization!' games which didnt have balance and often wernt that in depth. This was able to be balanced around a good party composition as it was required. Difficulty was good, I only died on two levels, maybe 3. But, a few of them i survived with only 2-3 (out of like 6) units. Those were fun and to-the-wire. Hey the mission says i should skip these... HA nope. then 8 turns later my teleporting samurai is hugging the wall teleporting up cliffs to be the only one to survive the map and escape. The robot bosses... wernt fun. Everything else I enjoyed. Often levels changed up what to do, break the walls, kill everyone (obviously happened a bit), escape, break objects. They changed up enough to feel fresh. The characters were a lot of fun and got laughs from me. After every battle in the party screen they have a talk scrolling on the right side and I always made sure to read it. The plot didnt always have me gripped, but when it wasnt driving me I enjoyed the gameplay and wanted to see what the characters would do enough to press on. By the end the plot had me wanting to know what happened. Final note, one odd thing this game does is have 2 types of characters, endurance which is what you expect, normal mp and hp. Then there is magic focused (everyone else), and every mage has mana shield. aka you must hit them and drain all mana before killing them, and mana shields have innate armor? Anyways, was a tad miffed to have 3 mages, one being a healer, and 2 endurance characters. However one of those endurance could 'partner up' and become 1 unit with someone else. It took a bit to get used to not being able to heal half my party.
I'm a big fan of turn-base games, and this was on my wishlist for a while. Not sure what stopped me from picking it up- I guess the number of reviewers maybe? Perhaps I thought that if a game never become too popular, it couldn't be that good... Well, I'm happy to report that I was wrong- this game is AWESOME. If you're on the fence like I was, pick this up.
Things I liked:

Unique and interesting tactical combat- there's a learning curve, but combat is satisfying and the difficulty scales nicely
Build variety is interesting, particularly in the late stages of the game
Likeable characters, each with their own personality and preferences
Story is interesting- I like the balance between story and combat. The dialogue is never drawn out, and action is never far away. I won't spoil anything, but it encourages a second play through.
Great soundtrack- good intensity during a few of the later battles in particular
Nice variety of enemies (multiple types, plus a lot of variety even within a given type thanks to a varied power + equipment system) and level objectives
A little thing, but I love how the "Steroid" item makes the character slightly bigger. Fun little attention to detail there!

QOL improvements:

Mute the confirmation sound
Remember unit's last assigned task
Ability to rotate the map
I've never been a big fan of level-scaling, would be nice to have it as "optional". On the plus side, I can't think of a game that handles scaling better than this one!
A battle log would be a great addition
Would be great if the ring drives stacked, and had sorting/filter options. Also be nice to see how many you have equipped and available for each ring drive in the crafting menu
Ability to tab through characters onscreen, such as when you are targeting a unit with a ranged buff/attack, or just cycling through them so you can see their position on the map

Bugs

Sometimes "Blood Samurai" doesn't provide a second turn when defeating the first opponent within the new turn. I see the AT amounts pop up, but don't get a second turn. It's inconsistent, and I've been unable to figure out what causes it.
Gabriel's sprite will sometimes be about a cell or two higher than the cell she actually occupies
Edited: formatting. Steam really doesn't like me copying from Notepad!
I don't understand a turned based where your character can be nearly one shotted from the first or second enemy turn??? game does have a difficulty slider but even reducing the damage by half the enemies can two shot you. the game doesn't seem to have a cover system your always out in the open I really tried to like this game but so many things don't make sense and lacking mechanics. and the dog doesn't making a howl sound when you use the howl move why bro.
