The early levels are not that difficult but the later levels are pretty hard.
Review assumptions: I believe this is a solo developer who has made a little game for fun. If you're looking for a triple A or game made by a full team, you should potentially look elsewhere. Fantasy war is a cute little game based on a single game mechanic that adds layers after each map. It's a very linear experience, with the early levels becoming a very straight forward tutorial. You drag your units between buildings, and the buildings automatically collect the game's resource for you. Essentially you're trying to balance your units / resource between the different buildings as a central mechanic. The Good: - The game has no immediate bugs, and each map is easy to understand - There is a surprising number of levels with each adding slightly new elements or challenges - It's a game you could easily play in a coffee or lunch break while thinking of something else. If you're a gamer that needs this type of game, this suits that purpose. - It has some rogue-ish elements where you can upgrade your faction Could Improve: - The developer has a great streamlined idea and executes it, but it could use a little more graphical polish and effects - Sometimes it's a little difficult to drag your units into the enemies buildings, and perhaps the game should look for the nearest building rather than cancelling your movement - Hard to balance but the initial levels lean a little too close to tutorial with some of them simply needing you to play through them. I'm a player that dislikes tutorials in general though. The game feels a little like a prototype but its well made, straight to the point, and fun enough for a cheap indie. I would encourage the developer to keep working at their craft to add more confident polish to their games in the future.
