I got my copy from the developer. One copy will be purchased for a friend to support the game. For context, the game has about 15 hours of quests and exploration, but the quality of platforming design varies greatly between some areas, so it's a bit difficult to articulate all of the small issues and nuances, the areas later in the game are significantly more frustrating. It was a very mixed experience for me, I really enjoyed the world and the exploration, but the gameplay sections can get somewhat annoying due to a variety of platforming issues, such as momentum and character frame delays that could be more optimized. It's actually a very easy game in theory, you can just buy as much healing as you want (assuming you can afford it) and the character is super tanky, but some areas have very spammy hitboxes and interactions, and you would be surprised how much time this game can waste, even though it's not actually difficult. (That said, I think a lot of that is literally just delay values on the frames, even a little boost to the animation speed and distance could make a huge difference, if they choose to do so. I almost wonder if there should be a "no knockback" mode, this game has a serious "medusa head" problem) As far as the town exploration, I don't have any big problems with that except for the metro cost which should be reduced, and that is like half of the game, you will be doing a lot of backtracking in towns, talking to characters, buying things, and just enjoying the visual spectacle of the game. I also really love the design of the character, I know we saw Lyn before in the arcade teaser from some years ago, but I still think it's a very cool looking character (I hope she gets more trendy), I love her frame by frame animations, especially all the smiles, and she looks like Popeye when pushing blocks which is my favorite animation. There are many little ways you can spend time in game, such as playing mini-games, reading various social posts, and looking for various small secrets. For better or worse this game has more features than most games, there are layers and layers of things to collect. It's kind of a metroidvania but it also does not feel like one a lot of the time. You could technically get double-jump early in the game, but it's gated behind a very tricky area of the game, so ideally you want to get extra HP before you do it, but to get extra HP it would be easier to get the double-jump for other areas, so it's like a lose-lose situation. It's hard to explain, but the way the game allows you to find power-ups is not super intuitive, like buying a swimming suit in the store. Most of the abilities are not actually required to beat the game, usually they are like optional ways to make the area easier, like boots to walk on lava, but you could also just jump on the platforms. The game will allow you to do multiple quest lines at the same time, but you might be stuck in the middle of one because you need a power-up from the other. I like the full range of the biomes and just the visual design of the world, the game has water levels where you can swim, space stages with low gravity, as well as the usual hot & cold environments. Apparently this game was in development for a very long time, and at least in raw content, you can definitely see that, you could probably make 4 smaller games from what they made. So if nothing else, you getting at least 15 hours out of collection, even if there are some frustrating moments.
Pros:
(+) The exploration/collectathon half of the game is pretty good, so many things to find, the locations are vibrant and very enjoyable to explore. I love the animation of the character, and just the design of the world and rooms are so nicely detailed, there is a lot more work here that I think you can see in the trailer. (+) A lot of gameplay variety, not always for the better, but I at least appreciate the attempt to add so many kinks to the gameplay. Several games within a game, not too complicated individually, but still, I don't see that kind of game design too often anymore. (+) Huge game, 15(ish) hours conservatively.
Feedback:
Platforming/Momentum/Frame timing: - The default roller should have maybe 10% more distance and 10% more height on the jump. It's very tight guys, you barely making it over objects or on top of platforms. The character feels a little heavy when she jumps. Maybe 5% more speed as well, she is super slow by default. I know you can buy other rollers, but it takes a bit to actually afford them. - I noticed that when you jump horizontally from the hooks, she does not get a full jump height, instead you have to jump directly up to go over something, which is very awkward. - The umbrella hover activates too slow, by the time it pops you lose the height which you want to keep. - On a personal note, consider adding mid-air jump, say you can use 1 jump while falling, also I would have liked a jump tech where you can cancel dash with jump to get longer jump. Random Things and QOL: - Um, where is the title screen music??? - Add a sound effect for both DASH and AIR DASH - Reduce the metro cost, half it. - Sound mixing in some areas is too low, I get you doing like a background music, but it was still too low, check all the stores, it's too low. Level Design: - Maybe adjust moon temple respawns. - For the ice caves, in place where there is a block on top, place maybe a sign to tell the player the block is like 5 screen away on top. - Add a shortcut out of the tombs, maybe I missed it? I know you can use feathers. Overall Thoughts: 7/10 The game has a lot to offer in terms of variety, collection and exploration, but its platforming half can be frustrating due to touchy hitboxes and slower frames, even though the game is technically not difficult, just annoying sometimes. I loved the look of the world and the characters, I thought the game was very ambitious even if it didn't always benefit the pacing. I still enjoyed exploring the world. I think you can work on the jumping timing a bit more, she is very heavy, and there is a lot of mid-air junk interactions. Some of the bigger platforming areas can get somewhat confusing, not sure if there is a great way to fix it. So yea, it's hard to recommend the game for the gameplay, if you just want something big and pretty to look at, and try to collect everything, I think it's a good collectathon, it's just not a great platformer. Cool presentation - nice blend of Adventure Island-style gameplay and Saturday Morning cartoon vibes - but it would be nice to have V-Sync as an option, as there is some screen tearing. Still, it's got a great connected world and some cool arcade-style extra mini-games and the demo is something you may want to try out if screen-tearing bugs you.
Fantastic game! Really enjoyed it, hoping to see a co-op mode added soon!
Lyn wakes up from a strange dream and realizes that her mother was kidnapped by some tyrant who wants her to become the new president by winning five talent shows. A huge and unusual responsibility is thrown at you right at the start, but the way to accomplish it is through a mix of platforming and fighting while exploring a colorful world, increasing your status through social apps, and making friends. Sadly, some elements don’t land well and ruin much of the game’s appeal. The controls are standard for a side scrolling platformer, and there’s not much to worry about. There’s a jump, attack, block, and item attack. Your basic attack is fine, and you can punch enemies into the air by pressing up along with the attack, or bounce on them by pressing down with the attack when you’re on top of them. Block can be stationary, or you can dash through an enemy, but this has an annoying cooldown and works only on enemies, not other threats. Finally, the item attack button throws the current item. These items are found by smashing breakable objects that are scattered throughout the stages. They can be bombs, shurikens, or something else, and they come in limited supply. You can only equip one at a time, but nothing goes to waste because your inventory holds everything, so you can smash and collect everything. The bad news is that the default button placement doesn’t conform to established standards and makes gameplay a chore. The worst news is that the buttons can’t be customized, not even for a gamepad. If we stick with the gamepad scheme, commands are placed one button away from where you’d expect them. So, instead of having the attack tied to the left button of the face cluster, Button X, it’s tied to the bottom button, Button A, which is usually reserved for jumping. In this game, jumping is tied to the right button, Button B, while Button X throws items. To make things even more complicated, the block button is on the top, Button Y, which makes it impossible to press efficiently during battles when the attack button is on the opposite side. Starting from your town, you can travel to several battle maps. There are several cities around where you can talk to many people and add each one to your friend list, but some will only accept you when you share the same interests. These interests can be learned by examining things in the cities, such as billboards, or by talking to more unique characters. Followers will sometimes send donations to your house in the form of free items, such as keys, healing items, and so on. One unique but ultimately disappointing feature in the cities is the arcade machines, where you can play games that pay homage to classics. Unfortunately, they are incredibly brutal in terms of difficulty and borderline unplayable. The worst is the beat ’em up game, which is nothing but cheap shots, damage stuns, and instant kills. Each basic enemy feels like a final boss because it dodges or blocks your attacks while hitting you right through your button mashing. The broken gameplay is somewhat negated by the fact that you have unlimited continues and lives. Fortunately, you don’t have to suffer through them. Anyway, unlike most games, in which you progress through small or large screens and uncover the map as you explore, each location here is one huge map. Sadly, they’re incredibly boring and look like a handful of assets were thrown into a randomizer without any interesting features. Each map is either a maze of paths or a huge collection of platforms, environmental threats such as spikes, and repetitive enemies. And as much as the game calls itself one, this is not a metroidvania because, except for having an interconnected world, it misses all the other ingredients. You can check out the map layout, but it doesn’t show anything except exits. This is a problem because you don’t see people, interesting spots, collectibles, or chests with loot. What’s more, valuable chests require keys hidden across a stage, which forces you to explore the entire map or get lucky with a drop from an enemy. Normal chests and destructible objects reset when switching maps, so if you find one nearby, preferably with money, you can grind. And grind is ridiculous because everything costs money, and there are loads of shops offering all kinds of expensive stuff, not to mention the contests you have to win, which also cost money. Shops offer different clothes and skates, each with a unique perk such as auto heal, more defense, better jumping, faster movement speed, or something else. But again, you can equip only one item per type, so you’ll probably spend a lot of time switching between them according to your current needs. Then you can go to a gym to add a combo to your attack, lower the cooldown for your dodge move, or boost your main weapon, the umbrella, with various elemental attacks that also let you destroy certain things. This, however, doesn’t require just coins but also a rare material that needs to be found in chests. Fast travel costs money, but it only works between neighboring cities, and you also have to pay each time you want to travel to locations you can’t walk to. Payment also goes for inns, where you can rest to heal, while saving is fortunately free. Resting moves the time of day forward to afternoon or evening, but this isn’t that vital except for certain stores and locations that are open or closed at certain times of day. Alternatively, you can just wait, but it takes a long time. The worst hassle, however, is the mobile phone shop, where you have to recharge your phone. The problem is that your phone has several quality of life apps that won’t work without a charge. Important ones include the world map and mini map in the right corner, as well as the quest list that shows you which location you need to go to on the main world map. The rest are not that vital. There’s the titular Fantasy Network, where you have topics learned in the world and used to gain new friends, a camera that lets you take photos at marked spots, a light to illuminate dark spots, and a few other apps. So, all of the above is something you can do while traveling the world to win the five competitions. Most have a building in cities where you pay to go against an opponent, and each competition has several opponents. Of course, you need to pay for each attempt. Competitions are mini games similar to the arcade machines, but with less hassle. You have a dancing competition where you have to hit buttons that show up at the bottom, a cooking competition where you run around different cooking stations and make sure the food is perfectly cooked without getting burned, a decent racing game with turbos and rockets, and so on. After taking care of the normal opponents, you earn the right to challenge a boss in each competition.
This game is very rich in content, with minigames, contests, regular & boss fights. Don't get fooled by the graphics style which looks a bit like taken from some childlish game - it's quite complex and deep. There are funny moments in the game for me but I'm not sure if these were intendended to be funny, I think it's rather my absurd sense of humor. I was expecting the social media aspect to be deeper but so far it turns out to be more like an excuse for some mechanics that aren't common in games of this genre (platofrmer, metroidvania).
I could not play this game for very long because the controls were so BAD! A to attack and B to jump?! What is that? Its not natural controls for this gamer sorry. Plus, no way to change the controls. It was more frustrating than the 1st Crash Bandicoot! The graphics are cute and colorful the mini games are fun and its a cute adventure game but, I wasn't too impressed with it; and the controls cheesed me off so bad I didn't want to play anymore. The user experience feels a little rough at first, but once you get used to the controls, the game becomes quite engaging and enjoyable. So far, I’ve found a lot of variety, with plenty of different areas to explore and some fun little minigames. I still need to play more to fully explore everything it has to offer, but for now, I definitely recommend giving it a try!

That's a quirky take on metroidvania genre, too early for a full deep-dive review, but the first impression is a solid thumbs-up
