About

Step into the role of Hira, a mysterious child fated to stand against ancient gods. Fallen Tear: The Ascension combines the emotional weight and party-building of classic JRPGs with the freeform exploration of Metroidvanias and just a sprinkle of roguelike challenge. Every death teaches. Every bond matters.
Explore a massive, interconnected world presented through gorgeous hand-drawn traditional animation and full professional voice acting! Venture through lush forests, lost cities, and forgotten ruins, all teeming with hidden pathways and challenges to conquer. Journey across with over 10 of Raoah’s interconnected regions, six main bosses (and three optional bosses!), and experience the story’s opening act during the Early Access Release.
Slash, parry, and dodge incoming attacks from all directions. Customize Hira’s loadout with a wealth of combat skills and abilities while exploring all Raoah has to offer. Learn enemy attack patterns, swap weapons and items, and switch up strategies mid-battle to keep enemies and bosses always second-guessing!
Forge friendships with mages, swordsmen, tricksters, and healers through the Fated Bonds system. Inspired by fan-favorite JRPG party assist and battle systems, recruit allies and harness their abilities in combat and traversal. Journey alongside more than 16 fully-voiced allies, each with their own abilities to experiment with, sidequests to complete, and stories to unravel.
Customize a Castle towering above all of Raoah and take refuge in the Temple of Oras. Fill this hub with friendly faces, both new and old, from across this vast world. Complete minigames to acquire upgrades and forge the Temple of Oras into a reflection of Hira’s adventures and relationships made along the way.
Take Hira’s acquired skills and allies to take on vicious boss battles. Swap tactics on the fly, exploit their weaknesses, and strike at the right moment. With each boss battle conquered, Hira is one step closer to uncovering his murky past.

As a longtime Dark Souls and Elden Ring player, Fallen Tear: The Ascension instantly clicked with me. It delivers that same rewarding feeling of exploring every corner of the world, mastering challenging encounters, and constantly discovering something new. The hand-drawn art is stunning, the soundtrack is incredible, and the combat feels smooth and satisfying. If you're a fan of games that reward exploration and skill, do yourself a favor and give this one a try—you won't regret it.
This is a visually stunning Metroidvania that blends fast-paced combat, rewarding exploration, and a heartfelt story into a memorable adventure. Its hand-drawn art style, smooth gameplay, and RPG-inspired progression make exploring its interconnected world both exciting and satisfying. While a few rough edges remain, the game's creativity, charming characters, and ambitious design make it an easy recommendation for fans of the genre.
The art is absolutely gorgeous, the animations are smooth, and the world is just fun to explore. Every new area has something interesting to discover, and the Metroidvania progression feels rewarding instead of frustrating. Combat is responsive, bosses are enjoyable, and unlocking new abilities kept me excited to see what was behind previously unreachable paths.
I'm still playing, but this is already one of the best early access metroidvanias I've tried. Exploration is fun, combat feels smooth, and the world keeps giving you reasons to keep exploring. It's surprisingly polished for early access, and I'm excited to see how it turns out. Definitely worth checking out if you're a metroidvania fan.
It is a really fun platformer game.. I also find the dodge and parry mechanic really interesting. Can't wait to unlock more skills and abilities as I progress through the game,
Really enjoyable game
If you loved Hollow Knight, you're gonna love this one too. It's got that same feeling of exploring a big connected world and slowly getting stronger, but this game feels warmer and more colorful, with beautiful hand-drawn art and a story that actually pulls you in.
Played for almost 6 hours, and tried to achieve each achievement, I can say that Fallen Tear: The Ascension takes the traditional Metroidvania blueprint and turns it into a beautifully animated trial where fate has already decided you are guilty The game drops you into the shoes of Hira, forcing you to carry a burden you never asked for. Right from the start, the narrative strips away your comfort—Miah and Ravn, ghosts of a peaceful life you can't go back to. Instead, the game forces you into the vast, indifferent world of Raoah—a massive, broken system where the rules are hidden, and the authority figures offer no answers. The real "WOW" factor here—especially for a gamer like me who lives for this type of masterpiece—isn't just the fluid combat or the slick exploration. It’s how the game weaponizes its scale. As you climb from the Godspire Shrine all the way to Hedwynn, fighting cosmic entities just to survive, you realize how beautifully cruel this world is. It breaks you down, strips away your hope, and leaves you in total isolation—only to hand you a blade and dare you to defy the gods. So, if you’re tired of playing by the rules of an indifferent sky, pick up the blade. Let’s see if you can survive the ascension.
First and foremost I am new to the Metroidvania genre and so far this game has already got me interested in playing it. It brings back some nostalgia for me with its art style that really got my dopamine hitting which just keeps me continuing to play some more. If you have played platformer games from you were young, y'know what I'm talking about. Art style aside, the character and mob designs is unique (in my opinion) where does not resemble a lot of other similar fantasy games that is saturating the game market as of late but also gives off this "retro" or "old" style of fantasy design that, as I mentioned before, brings nostalgia to me. Haven't progress much but the story is good so far and it made me kept going to see some more (Love me some good'ol fantasy story). Gameplay and mechanics aren't complicated which is good for lil' old me that's trying a new game genre so I'm happy for that as well. All the traditional compliments aside, this game is quite optimized and smooth for me (though I do have a decent pc to run it) and there's no annoying stutters and delays that usually annoys me games so props to this game for that. The world is vast so I have more things to explore so maybe the "Easy" mechanics and "Traditional" storytelling might get deeper the more I delve deeper. A lot of content already without waiting for months for the story to progress? Heck yeah! A lot of "modern" games usually have that type of thing going on but I'm glad there's more traditional games coming along. In terms of sound, it's very good so far as the background music compliments the game rather than overwhelm it. Lovin' it so far so I give this a thumbs up.
