About
Welcome to Fabular: Once Upon a Spacetime! Before you disembark on this cosmic journey, it’s important to understand one thing. We created a game that embraces difficulty as its cornerstone. It’s hard. In fact, it’s a black hole of hard. You will die. A lot. Pay attention and learn from your mistakes. Do your best to save the universe, space knight!

The Void Lords have stolen the sun. Your brothers have vanished into deep space. The king grows old and fragile, searching for a better future in the endless streams of prophecy. As the last remaining royal, the fate of the kingdom rests on your shoulders – and on your blade.
In Fabular, experience a sci-fi-infused vision of the Middle Ages, as noble knights clash in armored spaceships. The sweeping story is brought to life through a combination of pixel art and hand-drawn illustrations.

Embark on a perilous quest across a procedurally generated universe where friends and resources are both scarce. Plan ahead, be cautious, and make sure you’re prepared before engaging in combat. Every mistake could be your last.

Battle your enemies in top-down, tactical physics-based action combat and overcome thrilling duels at the tip of your sword.

Loot your fallen adversaries for better gear and upgrade your vessel to suit your playstyle in order to survive the next fight. Monitor your resources closely, or risk being stranded in space.

Die and try again. Return to the throne room after each defeat, unlocking new boons to give yourself an edge on your future runs. Meet new faces and seek guidance from old friends, as you’ll expand the court throughout your journey.

Save your kingdom against all odds by carving your path through the galaxy, challenging rival knights in fiercely intense close-combat encounters. Upgrade your arsenal of weapons, shields and equipment. Manage critical resources wisely. Make life-or-death decisions. And if you fall in battle, be prepared to do it all again.

Frustration: Once Upon a Defeat
Egyszerű és szuper sci-fi akció RPG
This is a stunning looking space jousting which would in itself be a great idea but at this point in time it is still lacking. There is at best a few hours of content and only 2 ships that does not give us much replay-ability. Sounds are good but, visually is where this game shines. I would recommend this title if you are a fan of pixel art games, and want to support further development of this game. Even though i have not seen much updates since i bought this. I have enjoyed my play through and i will surely play it again if they come up with new updates.
its a fun little diddy, repetitive, but fun. I know repetition is par for the genre of sorts but once you play through it a handful of times you start speed clicking through the dialogue stuff but the theme doesn't lose much luster for it.

Joyous fun to hack and slash in this twin stick melee focussed brawler
It wasn't for me. I thought this would be a rogue like where you are getting bigger and better guns for your ship, but space combat with mostly melee is oof.
I've tried Fabular and honestly it is a game with great potential. I was kinda surprised to see a gecko guy but that's awesome (I am very fond of geckos, other lizards and turtles and even had one for ~15 years). Gameplay is pretty engaging and with a little time to get used to combat it felt even better. You can only guess how much more game will become during EA->Release phase. On the feedback side I'd suggest making a perfect attack/opponent attack glow/flashing a little more intense (or add an option for intensity of that feature) but that's some minor QoL improvement. Despite having an EA tag I can see devs put a lot of effort in the project and it is well polished unlike many other titles which is awesome. I've had some kind of FTL vibes but with action filled combat and deeply enjoyed playing this one.
