F.E.A.R. 3 delivers all the hallmarks that define the F.E.A.R. brand: terrifying paranormal experience, frenetic combat and a dramatic storyline.

I teamed up in F.E.A.R. 3 expecting horror. What I got was co-op therapy with guns. This isn’t the slow, suffocating fear of the first game. It’s louder. Faster. Chaotic. Point Man shoots. Paxton floats, possesses, judges reality. Two playstyles. One unstable family. The horror doesn’t stalk you. It interrupts. Jump scares replace tension. Gunfights replace silence. And sometimes, atmosphere loses the argument. But when it works? It really works. Hallways stretch. Lights flicker. Alma shows up uninvited. Suddenly, F.E.A.R. remembers what it means. • I expected fear → got firefights • I relied on co-op → chaos followed • I focused on story → regretted asking questions Co-op is clever. Shared fear. Shared scoring. Shared panic. But fear is personal. And F.E.A.R. 3 knows that — just doesn’t fully commit. By the end, I wasn’t terrified. I was unsettled. And slightly confused. 7/10 – Not the scariest. Not the bravest. But worth playing if you enjoy chaotic co-op with horror flavor.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This is number 10/272 of my unplayed backlog. Okay yeah, this one is bad. I couldn't make it very far without just being totally done. I saw the writing on the wall of what the game was, having played lots of 360 era shooters like this. All the elements of F.E.A.R. are gone, it is a husk. This one aims to be a first person Gears of War like co-op shooter. I can imagine back then this would've been a fun rental for a friends sleepover where y'all can finish the co-op together, but unless you want to nostalgically relive that with a friend or just really want to see all the F.E.A.R. franchise has to offer regardless of the quality, just avoid this. I also wanna say, this game kind of makes you love the first game even more. The sins of the era are evident, snapping from cover to cover like a grid, regenerating health. The first game didnt' even need a cover system, the player can just peek using two buttons left and right, you can take cover if possible, but you can also freely move around and take the risk when you want. It was fluid, it was dynamic, it was a blast. This game is a great example of how bad the game design can get and lose all the fun for the player.
It's been a long time since I played FEAR 3, but looking back I remember it being a really awkward game. It shares the name and characters of the FEAR series, but otherwise it's pretty bad. It's (mercifully) short. The fact that it's co-op makes it at least not entirely boring if you bring a friend. And that's about it for the bright spots on things. The story is pretty terrible. The level are pretty uninspired and not even remotely scary like FEAR and even FEAR 2 were. And the "competition" between the brothers for Alma's...affection? based on level to level performance outcomes is certainly an interesting take on things. Because it's short, I can't say you shouldn't play FEAR 3 ever. But I wouldn't recommend it unless you just have morbid curiosity.
When FEAR 3 first dropped in 2011, I simply just wasn't interested in it. It didn't look exciting, and the reviews were bad. Skip to 2025, and I took the advice of the fan base to play this game with a friend in co-op. I must say, this game is... criminally underrated! The horror is surprisingly on point! Some of the best horror moments ever in the FEAR franchise. The story, in my opinion, is the boldest and darkest out of the entire FEAR series. I loved it! The music and sound design were epic; prepare your ears for some serious ear candy. The graphics are a mixed bag; at times it looks dated, and at other times it looks absolutely stunning. The game play is an adjustment from FEAR 1 and FEAR 2. However, if you can get past the adjustment phase, you'll find the combat is quite entertaining. Be warned, this game isn't really made for a single player experience. It's made from the ground up for co-op. Trust me on this... you want to play this game in co-op! I promise you won't regret it. Co-op mode, it enhances the story, and most importantly, makes the combat 5x more satisfying. FEAR 3 in co-op, feels like an intense, bloody, action horror movie, and you and a friend are the stars of the show. One of the best post-credit endings I've seen in a video game as well. A worthy FEAR sequel despite the incredible odds the developers had to face, with the higher-ups not letting them cook. You can tell the developers had their heart in the right place. 7/10
The accurate Balkan family experience.
