Extreme-G 2

Regardless of what the original game is/was like, this is a very poor version of it. The controller support is insufficient- certain buttons don't work (like the pause button), controls can't be remapped (and the default layout sucks), and there's no option to adjust analogue stick sensitivity (which matters because it's way too responsive). The game also doesn't run smoothly. It runs so fast that it starts to look like a slideshow when you're moving around the track. There is an option to adjust game speed, but in order to adjust it you have to exit and re-enter the game. Oh, and exiting the game is kinda buggy and leaves a big black square on the desktop. Another issue is that, without an instruction manual, there's nothing to explain the different stats between the drivers. That needed to be added into the game, but it wasn't. Also, the game doesn't go up to 4K if that matters to you. Nightdive Studios need to get their hands on this game and give it a proper update. Until then, don't bother.

Keyboard working in the menu but not in race / controller working in race but not in the menu (and too much sensible)

The game itself is good. The game was good for N64. However, this port dissapoints me. I was expecting more. My laptop has a wide screen, and the game attempts to render in a square resolution. This by itself is not a problem, but certainly the fact that the top part of the screen is missing is a problem. The controls seem way too sensitive as well, even when using a controller. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the game is unplayable, but certainly it isn't an experience I can enjoy. The best option right now is to go back to an emulator and play it that way.

i love extreme g, and i wanted to play this port, but it won't register my controller, so i can't play it :( updating my review to a positive review because steam is a real G! after you buy the game and install it, right click your game and click properties, then click on controller, override to use steam input, then use the controller configurator to map your controls. The trick is to use Extreme G2's option for the keyboard and NOT your xbox controller, take the keyboard mappings Extreme G2 offers and then map them in the steam controller configurator, now you will be able to play XG2 on your xbox controller, be sure to map your start button on your controller to enter on your keyboard, and select to escape. also map your up down arrows to your left joystick too

I used to hate this game because I hated the way the default controls were because 1. When I entered a race with the controls set to xbox, the game ignored all controller inputs and I had to close the game by pressing that stop button and 2. I couldn't get used to the keyboard controls. but when I used steam input translation to map my logitech game controller keys to keyboard keys, I then got the hang of the game easily because of the controller controls. I now regret hating this game. Sorry for hating you XG2 :(
