The game on it's own is very good. Learning the different vehicle's behaviors and planet's terrain and gravity is fun. The vehicle tuning is highly detailed with many adjustable elements for fine-tuning. The ability to fly the stage with a drone and plan your route with markers works well. Overall a great driving game. However, if you are a community focused player then this game is lacking several critical features. Just about the only community feature in the game is that you can see other players times on the daily tracks. There is no server browser, so you have to join the discord and get somebodies lobby code. There is no ability to watch other people's runs, so there's no ability to learn from people who are faster than you. There's no ability to watch your runs back beyond the 1 time after a race, they are not saved anywhere. The list goes on. Definitely worth my purchase, and I am enjoying my time, but without community features this game will be a solo endeavor.
I crashed into a rock and died. 10/10
A really fun racing game with good surface physics and traction. Its fun planning the route through the stage and managing tire wear/damage as you go through stages until you get to a service stage. RCS thrusters add a new way to get yourself out of a bad launch off hills or steps or gove yourself an advantage, but is a little wonky control wise with the top class car with an Xbox1 controller. The moon stages were intially really frustrating until I just took it far slower and more deliberate vs "MASH GAS AND GO" Only major complaint I have is with the camera. It's supposed to be a drone following you, but its clear from a game design standpoint its basically a fixed camera out on a pole behind your car. This is fine 95% of the time, but when you get big air or your car pitches a lot you completely lose the horizon and it becomes a "Which way is up" fight to RCS yourself back to somewhat level. Moreso if you're spinning or still rotating past 90 degrees up or down and the camera will freak out and you have to restart or just deal with it. I get its a design decision but it'd be nice if it wasn't that wonky at high angles. Overall a great time- even though its not the top class EX04 is probably my favorite (just would be nice if it had yaw thrusters instead of making me go to the insanity that is EX06 for off the jump L/R correction). Hope they add a livery system at some point, even if its just simple parts coloring on your rover and a team logo.
Ridiculously fun rally sim that's genuinely unique. A lot of love clearly went into the game with small details almost everywhere you look, and a lot of fun little mechanics adding to an already great game, like the Helldivers 2-styled commands for system checks and performing mid-stage repairs/tyre changes. The amount of official singleplayer content in the game is good for probably 10-15 hours depending on how good you are/how difficult you make the settings. There's 4 different vehicle classes you unlock as you progress through the "Series" mode, with rallies being held across 5 different planets. The earlier rallies have only a few stages per planet, while the later rallies have around 10 stages per planet. Each stage in the official series mode is handcrafted and unique to that particular rally, as best as I can tell. There's a time trial mode as well to set your fastest time on either official stages from the Series mode, or your own custom stages that you can build with the Stage Editor. For multiplayer, there is daily stages that are ranked with an online leaderboard and custom online rallies, created by other players. My only gripe with the stage editor is I wish there was an official public gallery, as sharing custom stages is done through share codes, and there is no official way to browse other players' stages in-game, which is a bit of a shame. On the official discord there's a spreadsheet with a whole lot of custom stages built by players though! I also hope we get a few more planets/maps in the future, but I do understand that it's a very small team working on the game, so I get it. Overall, it's fantastic, go play it.
Really enjoying this game, liking it more as it goes on - the third and second license is my favorite for different reasons. Switching to manual + thrust control is quite a fun experience. Always wanted a homeworld: deserts of kharak racing game, this ticks that box.
A fantastic rally game. Highly recommended for people who like games like the Dirt Rally series or Richard Burns Rally.
Great little racing game. Much different from WRC and Dirt Rally in that the levels are more open and dont take place on Earth! It's been pretty fun and unique.
Its pretty good. There some issues, but overall its pretty good, with a 360 Gamepad (GuliKit NS39) i had pretty good success playing. The controls are really good and the physics and damage model are good. Unless sometimes, sometimes physics just fail. But that is understandable. They had to throw out Unity's physics model, buy third party, get annoyed. Write thier own physics model for like 80% of the way from the base code as far i understand. So yeah, it can be a brutal game in the way they simulate the rover. But if you think you can just go fast, no you can't if you floor it and try to be fast you slide around like a Sports Car on Grass. Wheels spin too fast to get grip when you just floor i t. Gotta be gentle, then its fun! Especially if you see the moon.... GENTLE wins the race.
