Very fun roguelite, games are quick and builds become quite varied as you unlock more ability drops. My only point of criticism is that the enemies become a bit repetitive, but otherwise I keep going back to this game nearly every night!
Unfortunately, this still needs a little time in the oven. I'm going to "recommend" it cus it's pretty cheap but I am disappointed. It's more potential than substance. For example, at first the evolution of the enemies felt random and interesting and varied, but after an hour, I think I saw everything that the enemies have to offer. The evolutions are similar, perhaps you unlock far more but right now the start of the game is very slow and there only seem to be two or three general styles of play to work towards from the starting options. It's also a bit hard to see what's going on sometimes, I've died to enemies I didn't notice at least twice. The music is also rough, I had to turn it off... I felt like I was on a children's show about evolution, not becoming a fascinating and deadly beast. Overall, I would say, on sale? It's worth checking out. You might enjoy it more. I'll probably play a bit more but I don't love it. If the start was quicker, if the whole game had like a 2x speed mode honestly, could help but... grinding up the same couple styles of play over a slow start just to get bitten by a tiny thing you didn't notice and have to start over isn't great. Art is cute and what enemies are there are interesting, some of the evolutions produce very fun looking creatures, like I said... lots of potential. It could be a great experience with a little more variety and less grinding for basic starting stuff.
I like that hardly anything are crab but everything are crab. 10/10
Potentially more addicting than Balatro, amazing game! On the downside it feels like no matter what you sometimes just wont ever get the right upgrade and the fact there seems to be no upside to not splice except for getting the trait want. also I hope the Shellofant gets its spines slowly ripped out one by one.
I saw Game Grumps played the demo to this and thought, I could do better. Turns out, it is as difficult as it looks. But the gameplay is so fun! Trying to see what combinations of evolutions or mutations you can get combined with how fast you can level up makes this so re-playable. Not to mention the challenges and achievements. If you like roguelites, this is a gem.
Too much RNG
This is probably my favorite creature game at the moment. It fills that hole Spore left, when it never got remastered or rebooted.
