Damnit Splatt!
Unfortunately I landed on a "good game but not for me" with Everspace 2. It would be a "mixed" review if that was an option. Rating it negatively feels unfair though. I've tried to get into it several times over the years and finally gave it a real shot now. But I just don't like it very much even though I really really really wanted to. After all, these are the Galaxy on Fire people. My absolute most favorite mobile game of all times and the only reason I even have a favorite mobile game. I still think of and miss that game all these years later. Absolute masterpiece. But unfortunately, I didn't find much of that incredible charme here. Maybe it's me but the cutscenes with the animated stills and the story in general did nothing for me at all. It just felt way too generic and lacks that GoF warmth. In cutscene visuals as well as story and characters. I simply didn't care about any of it whatsoever. Without the captivating story and characters, the fetch quests quickly became repetitive. All the systems felt pretty convoluted (perks, ship, crafting). The game is also ridiculously difficult if you play on anything not "very easy". I guess the idea here is to make you grind a lot more than I did for better gear. I was also able to exchange my ship for a different one pretty much at one of the first stations which immediately removed that "I want to grind to get a better ship" urge. Even though there's many much more expensive ships you can't just get from the start, I think being able to get ANY so early is just a bad design choice. I additionally found myself lost several times with yet another "find this find that" mission where it simply wasn't very obvious where I had to look for something. What I really liked were the graphics (game looks fantastic) as well as the general handling / controls. Runs fantastic on the deck. If Everspace 3 ever comes out, I would still buy and try it again. I would try any game from the folks who made GoF. And maybe the next one comes closer to that magic. It's off but not THAT far off, after all. The gameplay and polish of this and the charme, story and design of GoF and I will buy any and all supporter packs on offer.
I'm not even that far into the game and already missions are impossible to beat, even at very easy level. I'm all for a bit of challenge in games, but this is ridiculous.
game super fire
Extraordinary
Very good space arcade game with fun combat and replay ability.
Un super jeu space opéra
