Be somewhat careful on linux. It'll randomly hang. I haven't found a pattern yet. You'll need to restart your pc to kill it. Other than that, it works great lol
Its Horizon in Space. That is not a compliment. The pacing is terrible. Missions and loot are repetitive. I burned out late in the story.

I was looking for a game that could at least remind me a little bit of Space Rangers. I found Everspace 2. Let me say right away: this is not Space Rangers at all. The game is very far from them. There’s no full freedom, no text quests, no economy. Everything here is much simpler and more straight forward. But, the game still hooked me! The graphics are beautiful. Space looks really nice and atmospheric. And flying in it is a blast. The ship controls feel very pleasant. At its core, the game is a relaxing fly-shoot-loot loop. You fly around, kill enemies, collect loot, search for secret caches, craft stuff, and the story feels almost unimportant your brain just rests. Of course, it’s not perfect. Missions sometimes feel repetitive, and comparing it in depth and freedom to Space Rangers doesn’t make sense. But as an arcade space shooter with looting and exploration? It’s solid. In the end, it’s a beautiful, atmospheric, and pleasant space game that you can just jump into and relax
I seldom write reviews but I had to for Everspace 2. I bought a Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flightstick and was excited to pick a space sim to play. Buying this game was a mistake. Setting up the controls was a nightmare, even by flight sim standards. I don't think I've ever dealt with a UI that was THIS clunky. It took several hours to set up all my controls. And then on the next startup, they were lost and I had to do it again. The game, at least early on, has constant popups telling you controls which are of course inaccurate if you use anything other than default. And there's no way to make those popups go away. If you google you'll find numerous examples of people asking on forums how to do it, and it's just not possible. A big chunk of the screen is taken up by instructions until the game decides to get rid of them. After playing for about half an hour with annoying instructions in the middle of my screen I just had enough and quit. I'm requesting a refund because this game is truly atrocious. I've been playing PC games for 30 years and I'm stunned at how bad EverSpace 2 is, and even more stunned at how good the reviews are. Are people being paid for their positive reviews?
Genuinely been loving this game. I normally dont enjoy single player games, but this is one hell of an exception. 10/10
