I played this on my YouTube channel... and now I sleep with the lights on.
This game is absolutely pants-wettingly terrifying. And I mean that in the best way possible. The devs clearly woke up and chose psychological violence — they know exactly how to build a tense, oppressive, “why-am-I-doing-this-to-myself” kind of atmosphere. Gone are the days of cowering in the starting room like a scared little goblin. Nope. Now the game actively forces you to leave the only place that used to feel even remotely safe. Thanks, I hate it.
Content Creators: You're Welcome (and I'm Sorry)
If you run a YouTube or Twitch channel and want to scare the living daylights out of yourself on camera for the amusement of others, this is a gold mine. Uncomfortable situations? Check. Jump scares that make you question your life choices? Double check. Moments where you scream and immediately regret everything? Oh yeah.
The Real Nightmare Is How Smart This Game Is
This isn't some lazy “boo” fest — the horror here is meticulously crafted. Lighting, sound design, pacing, and that creeping dread that makes you whisper “nope” to yourself as you turn every corner. It’s pure nightmare fuel, and the devs are clearly thriving off your emotional damage.
Final Verdict: 10/10 Would Traumatize Myself Again
Whether you’re in it for the horror, the content, or just a really solid reason to scream louder than you ever have before, Ergastulum: Dungeon Nightmares III delivers. Play it. Record it. Show your friends. Then blame the game when you can’t sleep for a week.
Unfortunately abandonware. As Steam itself says, the last update was over 5 years ago. The developer seems to have gotten an opportunity elsewhere according to her X page. She's the creator of Dungeon Nightmares 1 and 2. 2 being one of the best and scariest horror games I ever played. This one shows promise but it's not worth playing in the current state. I just find it super lame her sense of ethics didn't at least push her to leave an update here for promises unfulfilled... Makes for distrust and distaste in the future. Turning your back on who and what made you what you are today.
Abandoned and most likely will never get out of Early Access but it's playable
Unfinished and not scary.
Not a bad start for this style of game, but is it really still in Early Access or abandoned at this point? Giving it a thumbs up for now, I'll keep it installed and check it out more.
7/10 Had fun with Ergastulum and quite a few scares. Worth checking out but note this game has not been finished in some time since its release. I would continue the game as more is updated. I'm hoping this game wasn't abandoned.
I love the other Dungeon Nightmares game and this one was not my favourite. Very Buggy and fps wasn't good.
No lo entendi y se me glicheaba mucho pero se ve chido
I waited on this one for a while and finally purchased it recently. I expected to be suddenly thrust into an insane life or death struggle but was pleasantly surprised to see it start off rather tame and quiet. I got the first checkpoint and am a little stuck on the next step, but look forward to further play. I do agree with another review that the mouse look is unusually fast but got used to it after some play and expect to need that quick turn ability later ...
Es un juego muy especial que podría ser un bombazo con algo de promoción y máss trabajo, sin embargo parece caído en el olvido, una verdadera lástima. Recomendado en descuento.
