About

Erenshor is a single player adventure designed to capture the game play and feeling of an MMORPG. You will meet and group with hundreds of Erenshor's SimPlayers - which are your digital companions who persistently exist in the world, who progress independently, and who will always be ready to group and adventure along side you whenever you're ready.
Players will spend dozens or even hundreds of hours working on their characters. By the time they've reached the end game they'll be carrying godly weapons, long-lost spells, and legendary armor into battle - where they'll be nearly untouchable for all but the most fearsome opponents in Erenshor.

Erenshor is a single player love letter to the early MMORPGs that paved the way for the games we play today. Taking inspiration from the classics of the late 90s and early 00s, Erenshor does not offer quick rewards or hand-holding. Players will get lost, stumble upon deadly foes, and learn hard lessons. The keen adventurer will be rewarded.
Combat is deliberate and deadly. You'll need to consider positioning, strategy, and most importantly: what to do if it all goes wrong.
Your reward will be access to a monster's treasures once it's defeated. Some will drop swords, or armor, or jewels... and if you're lucky, it might have one of it's rare drops in its inventory - all for the taking.
If not - it'll respawn in time, and you'll slay it again for another chance.

Erenshor is built from the ground up to be a single player experience. All of the content, each puzzle, and all game play is hand built and balanced for one player, making Erenshor the only "MMO-Like" that is truly meant to be played alone.
You'll start with nothing, stranded on a small island off the mainland of Erenshor. With persistence, you'll gain power and wealth. Success will not come without failure, but with every party wipe and failed battle you'll gain experience and knowledge to come back and try again.

Partner with our signature Simulated Players to experience all of the content the game has to offer.
These players will level up alongside you (whether you're online or not), they'll find new items on their own and they'll find them with your help. They'll ask for loot drops, they'll buy and sell loot, join and leave guilds, and even invite you to raids as they get to know you. They'll remember you and how you treat them.
The SimPlayers all have their own pre-written personalities and motivations, and their own opinions of you and of the other players. You'll find favorites, and together you'll conquer the world of Erenshor one rare drop at a time.
Grow together as a 'server' in order to defeat Erenshor's toughest opponents... and then leave the realm to challenge the Gods themselves!

You'll hunt monsters, complete quests, and find lost artifacts worth more gold than you could ever wish for. Each upgraded item will bring tangible increases in power, and soon the unwavering foes before you will be pushed aside, revealing a challenge even greater.

NPCs all respawn. You can attack any of them, and they all drop loot. Even the good guys.
Factions exist. Wiping out a town may mean you're no longer welcome there... but it may open up doors elsewhere.
Thousands of unique items, from common drops, to legendary treasure.
Simulated Players: You may get an invitation to join a group of simulated players in slaying a dragon or even a God. The treasures are yours for the taking.
Cities, Dungeons, Tombs, Forests, Beaches, Forts, Meadows, Caves, and Mountain Ranges - a huge world to explore with secrets in every corner.
Lore and Story done your way. Investigate the mysteries of Erenshor, or don't. Kill mindlessly for power, or with direction and purpose.
A World Divided: The game world is divided into separate 'zones'. Areas are unique to themselves, and can be traversed at will - whether you're ready for it or not.
Multiple Character Slots and a shared Bank. Subsequent characters have the option of starting with a massive advantage, including XP bonuses.
No micro transactions. Ever.
*Note that SimPlayers do not use LLM or any other emerging AI model. They are run by a mixture of state machines and decision trees. This means no token fees, and no lapse in service after a certain amount of use.

VERY GOOD
Don't like MMO subscriptions, don't like most people, but I LOVE THIS GAME! Scratches the MMO vibes w/o griefers & lunatics. Very well done for a solo developer.
Interesting Approach on a singleplayer MMORPG. The NPC´s have set answers, so dont expect them to be on a High level when you ask for things but you get whispers from NPC´s you played with before and sometimes they recognize you and say Hi when you run past them. The Quests are interesting and you realy start to care about some folks that you start to group up with. Worth a shot

I'm basically 100 hours in and approaching end game. This has absolutely nailed the old school mmo feel with none of the pressure to log in and spend every day playing catch up. This is genuinely one of the best indie games I've ever picked up.
Incredible game with so much content. This type of format is 100% the future!
I didnt play much yet i really like the idea, but controls seemed a bit tiring hope it gets improved in the future.
Solid game, but sadly not for me. I'm happy so many people are enjoying it, and I think I got my money's worth at least. I don't feel this justifies a negative review as I'm simply not the target audience and it's in early access. But I'll share my experience in the hope that it might help others determine if it's something they'd enjoy. I never played Everquest, Ultima online, or the like. The first MMOs I played we're Runescape in early 2000s & WoW classic to WotLK. Today, I mostly play Oldschool Runescape and Guild Wars 2. What lured me in with Erenshor was the simplayer system, exploration, and rpg progression. I went in blind, avoided spoilers, and pushed through the early game slog to see if I'd enjoy the game. I had fun, especially the later parts of the tutorial island when I started to get a handle on the game and the Bellwain / Bellsie mystery puzzle, but 27 hours in I'm finding it hard to stay motivated to play, which is a sign to put the game down. What I liked:

The simplayers chatting in global and the guild chat helped sell the MMO-like experience.
There's a lot of cool tips and info that simplayers give out occasionally in global/guild chat. This worked well as a way to hint at objectives. It's a clever use of simplayer system.
Admin panel customizations allows you to tailor the game to your liking. I tried the recommended settings at first but then opted to enable the minimap later.
You are rewarded for reading NPC dialogue and exploring the game.
The game requires you to figure things out instead of telling you exactly where to go and what to do.
Easy to group up with simplayers since they'll just drop what they're doing and join up when asked. This isn't realistic to a true MMO experiences but I think it's the right concession to make since it's a singleplayer game.
Learning to use the auction house is rewarding since items sell for a much higher value than their vendor prices.
What I disliked:

Simplayers are interesting but I quickly noticed behavior patterns that broke the illusion making the game feel less alive.
Simplayers didn't progress much on their own. Most fell behind my character's level and stayed there. I found out by googling that you should friend simplayers you want to stay near your level. I think it would be nice if this were more automatic and if some of them (besides the Friends guild ones) out-leveled you too by 5 to 10 levels.
The world felt increasingly sparse the further I progressed. The first island was brimming with simplayers, but towards the end of my playthrough it was just me and my party exploring the world.
Combat bore me so much I played Youtube videos on the side. The enemies felt like health sponges. In hindsight, tuning the damage in the admin panel would probably be the right play.
There's too much empty space in the game world, which meant a lot of running around to get to the nuggets of content. This wouldn't be so bad if the world had a lot of visual details to admire but it's mostly large flat surfaces.
Dungeons were mostly long corridors/tunnels littered with 3 or 4 kinds of basic enemies.
UI and game interactions feel awful. Maybe that's the point to make it feel oldschool but it was a detractor for me.
Would be nice to have more ways to get hints so you don't get stuck and have to resort to the wiki or discord.
Lack of direction sometimes on where to go for your level. Maybe similar-leveled simplayers should ask for help with quests or regions? I think there were some instances of that but it was uncommon.
It's hard to tell if you've missed out on some content. As much as I try to leave no stone unturned, I likely missed out on quite a bit.
Stat system seems overly convoluted. I just maximized the stats the class description tells you to and hoped it was making a difference rather than knowing or feeling that it did.
Again, these are just my experiences with the game going in blind and avoiding the wiki and google as much as possible. I hope this game continues to thrive for those who do enjoy it :)
