About
In the year 32767, the world suffered a massive cyber attack which destroyed the entire Internet. Since then, you and an online friend are trying to understand the sparse pieces of documentation about the NEEES, an ancient game console released in 1983. With your programming skills, you'll have to build an emulator that runs those old games, helping preserve video game history.

Are you able to program a little, and interested in programming an emulator ? If not, then you probably aren't going to be interested in this game. if you are, then you should enjoy this game. It streamlines the experience considerably, even if the javascript environment added a little friction for a non-javascript person such as myself. Having some chill music, good guidance to follow along, and tests to validate behaviour as more layers of functionality are slowly piled together makes the experience of developing an emulator MUCH smoother than the typical bare-bones experience. A few details will be a little opaque, perhaps but even then, I learned a fair bit. In any case, it's FREE, and it's GOOD. Give it a quick try if you have spare time to program and wonder what NES emulation is about. Oh yeah, and the dev is very quick to fix bugs and issues, too ! Aside : it took me less than 43 hours to complete. I tend to leave the game on while doing other stuff. It'll still take between 15 and 30 hours for most devs though, I expect.

actual gem 💡💾
Just got to the credits, great work! EmuDevz is fantastic! Gamification is a great way to teach/learn. I have never actually understood a lot about emulation until working through EmuDevz. I've tried many times, but never got this far with it. I admit I used ChatGPT a couple of times when I was stuck, but any issues were mainly logic errors or syntax errors on my part. The "chat" in-game is just enough advice, templates, pseudocode, etc to give a structure for most of the implementation, and still feel challenging. Again, great work!
it legitly got me into coding again, game of the year for education

If you don't already know what you're doing, don't even bother. The "tutorial" is convoluted and incredibly frustrating.
Dommage ...
