this is a good lesbian story,i like femboy🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️,and i need Chinese translate😭😭😭 this is definitely a lesbian story, although Marcille is portrayed as a male, but Marcille is really a complete translesbian,Marcille really is so feminine that there is absolutely no trace of masculinity in Maceille,i love this story so much that i spend many days reading it using Google translate(i cant read English text easily) finally,i have finished reading this VN and saw the postscript, i really appreciate that the author ebi-hime defined the main character Marcelle as an Enby, rather than emphasizing that they is a male (this type of VN from japan usually emphasizes that the protagonist's nature is still fundamentally different from that of women and is still a male) , and i learned that this VN is based on a French novel written a hundred years ago that contains lesbian elements (even though i have never read it before, and i doubt if there is a chinese translation of this ancient novel) , all of the above makes me feel that this visual novel has a literary value that is inconsistent with its sales.
i think mirabel is a closet pedophile

Embraced By Autumn is a romance visual novel created by ebi-hime that leans into atmosphere, character work, and gentle storytelling rather than spectacle or mechanical complexity. Set in 1896 at a French boarding school for girls, the story puts you in the role of Marcel, a young man forced to disguise himself as a woman after a scandal disrupts his family. The setup could easily have been treated as a gimmick, but here it becomes the foundation for a thoughtful story about identity, belonging, and the fragile connections formed between people when secrets are involved. From the very beginning, the narrative establishes a quiet tension between Marcel’s need to conceal his true self and his growing bonds with those around him. The narrative focus rests firmly on the people Marcel meets at the school. Four distinct heroines form the backbone of the story: the cool and distant Luce, the hot-tempered Claudine, the refined and serious Céline, and the clumsy but endearing Mirabel. Each of these routes provides its own emotional journey, with conversations, subtle gestures, and gradual revelations shaping the relationship. Rather than leaning on big plot twists or melodrama, the writing invests in small moments—walking in the gardens, awkward encounters in dormitories, quiet exchanges of trust—that build toward meaningful conclusions. Because the routes are fleshed out and self-contained, each feels like a complete story, and replaying to explore the different perspectives is both natural and rewarding. Structurally, the game keeps things simple. It is a classic visual novel with branching dialogue choices that guide you toward different heroines and endings. There are no stats to manage or complicated gameplay layers to juggle; instead, all of the weight lies in your decisions and the conversations they open or close. This makes the experience accessible while still offering depth through replayability. The slower pace is deliberate, giving you space to absorb the characters’ personalities and watch their arcs develop naturally. Players who come expecting dramatic twists or intense conflict might find the story subdued, but those who appreciate character-driven storytelling will find a lot to enjoy. The presentation helps sell the atmosphere. The art style is delicate, with detailed character portraits and background illustrations that evoke late 19th-century France—quiet courtyards, candlelit interiors, and misty lanes. The visuals avoid flashiness, instead aiming for a consistent tone that complements the writing. Music is equally important, with soft, classical-inspired tracks that add emotional weight to scenes without overwhelming them. Subtle sound effects, like rustling fabric or distant bells, reinforce the sense of place. Together, these elements create a mood that is immersive and a little nostalgic, fitting the time period and themes of the story. Reception has been generally positive, with players praising the romance, the setting, and the sincerity of the writing. Some criticisms do surface, usually around the pacing or the protagonist’s passivity—Marcel is not a forceful lead, and that can make him feel reactive rather than proactive. Others might wish for more dramatic tension or variety in the later chapters of certain routes. Still, these issues rarely overshadow the game’s strengths, which lie in how gently it develops its relationships and how well it maintains its tone. For those who already enjoy ebi-hime’s style, this novel fits comfortably within their body of work. Embraced By Autumn is not designed to be groundbreaking or flashy, but it succeeds on its own terms. It tells a story that is romantic and reflective, balancing the intrigue of a disguised protagonist with the warmth of everyday human connection. The historical setting adds flavor without drowning the narrative in period detail, and the branching routes provide plenty of reason to revisit the story from different angles. For fans of slower, more atmospheric visual novels that emphasize emotion and character above all else, it is a rewarding read. Those who demand faster pacing or heavier gameplay mechanics may find it too quiet, but for the right audience it is a graceful, heartfelt experience. Rating: 9/10
I have a special soft spot for Ebi-Hime VNs, and indeed, Embraced By Autumn had to rank with one of the best which I have read. It's a beautiful story of an effeminate schoolboy badly treated in a male environment and being transferred to study as a girl in an all girls' country school. Here, he encounters four girls with whom he creates special relationships. So far, I have only pursued his path with Mirabel; his experiences with Luce, Claudine and Celine are to follow. The story with Mirabel was no less than superb, and I am certain that the remaining three stories will be similarly absorbing.
Embraced by Autumn is a Ebi-Hime visual novel i would definitely recommend for those who like cozy heartwarming stories ,four well developed love interests, and not to much suffering by Ebi-Hime standards if you read some of their previous works. Though don't go in expecting a choice heavy visual novel it is mainly kinetic besides choosing what route you wish to go on. But if that isn't a deal breaker for you then this visual novel may be worth picking up for you.
Gameplay Experience
Finished all 4 routes in around 6.0 hours on a Steam Deck in this route order: Celine, Luce, Mirabel and Claudine.
Notes and Thoughts
As my first Ebi-Hime kinetic visual novel, I was surprisingly invested in the well-being of the girls so much so that I felt guilty for choosing any route which may deny others the friendship they need. My favorite is Celine being so well mannered and the least is Claudine for being annoying despite her wit and charm. As for concerns, I do wish there are more side characters with defined personalities and interpersonal interactions after selecting a route. The isolated routes makes sense with the setup but having more interplay is what I look for specially in a school setting. If possible, I would also really have appreciated a platonic route or choice as I care for them as friends and not as potential partners. Of course these concerns are understandable given the budget and scale but would have elevated this game. As my first route is Celine and knowing what happens in the others, I have a problem with her ending and how it resolves. I am okay with sad or ambiguous endings as they force introspection and was well aware of this issue way before any route. My problem is this is quite unfair that she gets to raise that but not with the other routes. I feel this is better explored possibly on an expanded story (or DLC) for that issue to truly sit with the reader after getting to know the characters. Having epilogues would be nice but perhaps beyond the scope. Since this is my first by this developer, I am unsure about the quality of this game relative to its contemporaries, so I am vaguely recommending this as a nice short read. Side Note: I am a bit neutral on a possible Noemie route where I barely have sympathy for her attitude before or after the game. Although, I am not averse to perhaps seeing more of her but it better be well worth the time as she has been quite atagonistic to the other characters.
The premise could be a bit uncomfortable, but it worked out respectfully which I'm happy about. I liked how Marcel(le)'s story went and their confusion and difficulties. There is a single choice about 33% through, that leads to four distinct routes. Make sure to save at that choice so you can experience all four routes. Otherwise it's a linear story, with no other choices or endings. There are some heavy topics, especially during Luce and Mirabel's routes. Each route also gives you a different view of each character, so it's well worth doing all of the four routes to understand everyone's motivations and backgrounds. Music is decent, and the artwork I really liked. There's a gallery of scenes that fully fills out when you do all four paths. It played perfectly on the SteamDeck (since I finally got it back from RMA) using the default keyboard and mouse profile that is used for most VN's.
