The expansion or update they add True Healers like a cleric or shaman and a Few True Casters maybe a pet class is when this game will sky rocket and get more attention, give the community what they love. How well you do content is what matters.
First of all, the game is pretty much dead, I saw one other player, and he was afk the entire time. The game lags like crazy, I never got a choice to select region, so I guess everyone is dumped onto the same server, wherever that is. And then it seems to sync everything, including graphics and the world, so when the server lags, everything stops, and then it tries to catch up, and then it lags again.. Creating a very nice rubberband experience. Enemy corpses occassionally bug out, sinking into the ground and not allowing you to loot, that'd be fun on killing a boss. The graphics are extremely washed out, and offers no gamma, brightness or contrast control, with the exception of nighttime brightness.. And the performance is horrendous. On my specs it manages just barely 60 fps on almost lowest settings, when it rains everything turns into a white shiny plasticy look, completely taking you out of the world. And for all this, the developer also threw in a sub fee, calling it optional but it seems to offer quite a lot of effects, one or two that might even be considered p2w, never got far enough to actually try out everything on there, but reduced event vendor prices seems like something I wouldn't enjoy, depending on what this vendor sells. The general feel of the game is old, clunky, messy and poorly made. Will probably check it out again someday, if it gets people playing it and some major performance and gameplay updates.
I picked this up on the Steam summer sale for just $5. So far it feels pretty polished and well worth the price of admission. There are not very many people online but I was able to make progress and the community was helpful with all my dumb questions.
I love games like these, but i cannot currently recommend the game in its current player state. It's mainly designed as a party based game is and very difficult to do any of the higher difficulty content due to the very low player population. As it stands right now, they have not put out any big content updates, just mostly patches, hotfixes, and a few miscellaneous features, but nothing major as of note. I do not see the game surviving much longer, but who knows, I hope i'm wrong. I Would love to see this game strive.
As of writing this, 21st of April 2026, I've completed all end game raiding bosses, and I also feel like I have experienced most of what the game has to offer where I can do a review of the game. There is still content I haven’t done, like leveling some profession, completing some quests, or maybe even a dungeon I have not done or a section of a dungeon. I wanna say straight away that this game is a bargain for the money that u pay for it. It took me around 1.4k hours on this account (I have also played on other account a bit) to reach a point where we managed to kill all the bosses, let that sink in :D.Game does not suffer from the RMT problems bigger MMOs suffer from. Also, devs seem to have absolutely zero tolerance for any P2W elements that MMOs are plagued by, which is something I love to see. The game is, for the most part, gonna reward u as much as u can put time into it. First, I’d like to start reviewing leveling. I really liked the leveling during early levels. It felt like there was a variety of things I can do. Around level 30ish is where I feel like it gets more limited—not as many quests, dungeons, or EVs to do. Also, I didn’t have that many players to play with after 30, so that might also affect my subjective judgement. I would also like to point out that I’m an EU-based player, and the majority of the playerbase is NA, so I would play during off-hours for NA (although I also played quite a bit during NA hours). I really wanted to point this out because I feel like if u are an EU player, u really need to go an extra mile with this game, but if u like oldschool MMOs, I feel like it’s worth it. That all being said, though, the game does offer an alternative to more traditional group leveling, which seems to be the "vision" of the devs. One thing I really loved about leveling was raiding bosses during leveling and the gear u would get from them. It felt so good to get new weapons and see my character being able to kill stuff so much better than I was before. Also, I really liked the fact that u have to learn all the areas because there is no minimap, and ur character is also not shown on the map other than when u reach Ember Ring. I also loved the fact that quests were something that u had to do research for, figure out urself, or ask other players what to do. It really gave this game such an oldschool feel to it, which is caused, of course, by the low population, so there are actually positives for the game being low pop :D. So with leveling, there are positives and negatives. As someone who is used to oldschool MMOs, I really don’t care about leveling. It’s something I find rather boring in any MMO, tbh—just a grind that u have to complete. And this game’s leveling, like I said, had some positives and some negatives. I feel like I’m not the "target audience" of the EQ-esque approach of leveling, where I felt like other ppl actually care about getting certain gear during leveling. I really am not able to see the appeal—I’m gonna replace those gear regardless in a few days to weeks. Also, the length of the leveling seems to be too long of a grind for the majority of ppl who try the game. For me, it took 21 days 21 hours in-game /played time. I did not feel like it was that bad, but I can see why ppl can’t make it to max level. I would also like to add that, for whatever reason, I’m unable to really appreciate any MMO till I reach max lvl and start to understand how the game works in its entirety. Maybe it’s my inability to see the bigger picture till I can see everything—like forming that central coherency from individual parts—and that’s why leveling to max feels like a jump in the dark. Overall, though, I would say leveling was a positive yet boring experience at times. Devs have also revamped Highland Hills zone, which was during my leveling period the most boring part by far, so my experience leveling might not reflect the state of the game anymore. Next, I’d like to tackle professions. They, imo, are nothing special—just your run-of-the-mill professions. They work but are a bit on the boring end. Endgame—this is where the game shines for me. Grizzled Peaks as a zone is awesome. There are lots of level 50 monsters which are challenging and rewarding to kill, like stalkers, and the highlight of the zone has to be 3 raiding bosses. Mechanic-wise, they are nothing special, but for whatever reason, after killing them so many times, I’m still not bored of them. I found them kinda fun still. The other endgame zone, Ibaxus, is where it gets really fun. Ibaxus is split into two sections: lower and central. Lower has 3 boss encounters and 1 miniboss—the fights here have mechanics and are fun to do. Central also has 3 boss encounters and 2 minibosses—these are even better than the lower ones. Mechanics are something that could be compared to an mmo like vanilla aka classic wow. Where Ibaxus really shines is the creativity that u can do with the gear u get from there. U can reach such high numbers in stats that the playstyle is vastly different than the rest of the zones in the game. Also, I love the fact once again that the game is low population, which means we have to actually come up with some tactics ourselves on how to approach bosses and kill them. That has been so much fun, and theorycrafting how to itemize my character. I’d like to thank the devs for the work they have put into the game and continue putting in. I really like the weather system they have implemented, and also GM events are a great addition to the game, which are also done during EU hours! :D. Also, huge thanks to the raiding community and especially Allies guild for being awesome. TLDR; great oldschool MMO if u are willing to grind. Ibaxus is awesome, u can really let ur creativity shine.
Throwback to old MMOs where you have to (god forbid) think for yourself and do some self discovery. Would love to see more players but soloing can be fun just farming xp or mats at your own pace.
Interesting old school take on a MMORPG, no real casters (magic users) mostly a melee/ranged/healer types which I like. Slow paced, slow combat that gives you a nice relaxed yet tense game play with high situational awareness which is rare! Overall I've been playing on and off as they update the game with the "Marshal" class lvl 7 so far, you can solo which I have been doing and I like the class XD. Overall, I hope to see how this game develops and look forward to playing it long term!
I have been having a blast on this game, first day I found a guild that was very helpful and they have been helping me out with quests and running these massive dungeons!!! The community in this game is amazing and not toxic. Really can’t wait to see what else this game as to offer. For 20 bucks what do you have to loose if you enjoy playing tab target MMOs.
Edited review after feedback received. This game is a grind fest. The community is small and some of the community keeps to themselves. The population of multiboxers is significant. Finding groups is difficult for the mentioned reasons and also the small population. It is a shame because the design of the game encourages grouping where the dungeons are great for groups. There are solo loops in the dungeons called 'ember veins'. You can solo all the way to level cap, but xp is faster in groups. I think that the game's population is shaped by the gameplay. One of the problems I think is that if the general population is 90/10 good to evil, the population here is a bit different, and I wouldn't be mentioning it if it was cheery. Evil triumphs over good sometimes and more often here. The boxers won't group with loners because they would rather not share rolls on loot. People are friends with each other depending on whether you have rolled against them on loot or not. There is so much to say about raiding design and how it won't scale to a larger population. Whether this is a cause of the limited population or not is hard to say. But there is 1 lockout for the entire server on about a weekly basis for the raid bosses. So even if a new group of 20 people wanted to play this game to end-game, they couldn't do any raiding unless they were wrapped into the group already raiding. Fortunately or not, the end-game raid has only been almost full rarely in the time I've been around, and not lately. Can you imagine the problems it would create if there were 35 raiders looking for 30 spots in raid? It would be a social nightmare. I think they should implement level matching grouping for dungeons. So if I am level 50 I could turn my level down to 35 and run the forgotten depths dungeon with other people. Or we could all turn our level down to 8 and run the lowest dungeon, and still be rewarded with reasonable XP. With a population as small as it is, it is really hard to find groups. It's just people switching around alts to play. It works if you have an alt every 10 levels, but I am gearing this review to a new player without alts. On the plus side, the abilities and gameplay style is what you would expect of a game of this type. I'm an old WoW hardcore raider who raided for a competitive spot and enjoy the mechanics. Of course it's a bit less polished or simpler than WoW, and there is a bit less variety. But the developers do still spend time on the game, and they even accept requests for improvements. For instance, they developed improved weapon switching. But there are some things like buff icons rearranging themselves so quickly it's impossible to read them in real-time. You need to make a clip and scrub through it to find the buff. The crafting system is quite complicated if you're into that. There are codes of conduct and you'll find people who don't uphold standards. Not everyone is friendly. People will lie to your face. People will judge you by your philosophical ponderings and not your actions. People will group based on whether you may need loot, would slow them down, if they have a normal group that you're not a part of. So I'd say I'm about 50/50 for recommendation of this game. I changed to recommended because selfishly I'd like more players. I had 2 helpfuls before that. If you're a good person, come play; if you're evil, don't. That's wishful thinking. The minority of the community sours it for me. You will need more than 2 hours to try it out, but $20 may be worth it. You may play for 6 months to a year with a subscription.
