It is your wedding day. Just as you are about to walk to the altar, demons attack everyone gathered and slaughter them. You refuse to accept this fate, so you tear off your wedding dress to reveal armor and a sword hidden beneath, ready to take revenge. Sadly, you do not get far. Demons quickly surround you and leave you bleeding on the ground. However, luck finds you in an unusual way when a dying demon merges its remaining life force with yours. From that moment on, the two of you travel together and constantly bicker. The story itself is decent, though it contains a lot of mature language, including frequent f-bombs and similar words. There are also many conversations with other characters, presented in a visual novel style. You can move through the dialogue quickly by mashing the button or skip the entire scene, though skipping is not recommended if you want to understand what is happening. With the premise established, the focus shifts to the controls and the commands at your disposal. There is not much to worry about. Besides moving left and right, jumping, and attacking with your sword, there are very few unique mechanics to manage. An important ability you gain a few minutes into the game is the dash, which can also be used in midair. The dash helps you travel farther while jumping and allows you to dodge attacks or pass through enemies. It is particularly useful because you can activate it during an attack and move forward either a short or longer distance depending on how long you hold the button. There is no stamina system, so you can use it freely to reposition yourself and attack enemies from behind. Your demonic companion is not especially helpful in combat. It has a ranged attack that uses mana, which regenerates slowly, but the damage is small and mostly pointless. Its main usefulness appears later when it gains a laser ability that can destroy certain walls. The gameplay is that of an action platformer, so you will spend time jumping across areas while fighting enemies. The jumping feels slightly floaty, though you still retain full control. Your main attack can be chained into combos, and you can also attack while in the air. Defeated enemies drop money or unique loot and grant experience. Eventually you level up, which increases all your stats. Unfortunately, combat lacks much strategy. Most encounters can be solved by simply mashing the attack button until the enemy dies. Attempting more elaborate moves often results in taking additional damage, which can be unavoidable because enemies will complete their attacks regardless of what you do and cannot be interrupted. This becomes especially frustrating during boss fights, since their attacks grow stronger as their health gets lower. Progression resembles a metroidvania structure. You explore straightforward and empty rooms while the map gradually reveals itself and beat bosses that reward new abilities to make further progress, although the overall scale is much smaller than typical games in the genre. The map itself is very basic and consists of squares connected by lines. It shows available exits with nodes on the edges of each square and places a large icon inside the square to mark important features. Most rooms are empty, but sometimes you will encounter a chest or a save room. Saving fully restores your health and respawns all enemies. Enemy loot is not particularly meaningful because the only thing you can do with it is sell it. Items found throughout the world are marked with a sparkle or hidden inside chests, which often contain pieces of equipment. Gear is divided into weapons, armor, and two accessory slots. Unfortunately, the equipment screen is poorly designed because it does not provide a comparison view or colored stat indicators. This makes it difficult to tell which stats improve and which ones decrease. The same issue appears in shops, where you have no clear way of knowing whether a piece of gear is an upgrade or simply a waste of money. The game itself is not very long, but you may need to replay it to earn certain exclusive achievements. These include challenges such as never using a save room, never buying anything from a shop, or completing the entire game in less than one hour and thirty minutes.

A great simple Metroidvania game with an interesting story and a good plottwist. Gameplay and mechanics are easy to understand and to use. I enjoyed the game from the beginning to the end. A few balances and bugs needs to be fixed otherwise the game is pretty good!
I had a fun time playing this game, it has a good and interesting story that I enjoyed to the end, fun dialog with the characters, and interesting locations to explore. I am a fan of the visual novel game, Corrupted Kingdoms, so I am happy to see Qarinah here, and with a petty important role as a merchant in this game as well. I just wish there were more interactions and dialog with her, I want to know more of why she is here and why she is collecting money for (who I assume to be) the protagonist of her home game, and knowing how her powers work, I can see this as canon to CK. the game play and platforming took some getting used too, but it was fun once I did get used to it. over all I did enjoy my time playing this game and do recommend it to anyone interested.
A great game to introduce people to metroidvania games, controls are easy and intuitive and the gameplay loop is very beginner friendly, also my cute baby Qarinah is there and there's a lot of hidden jokes and references spread around so it's definitely going to make you laugh here and there. Made my way to the third(?) area now and so far it's been a very fun game
